Clean Windows 7 Install-loading Files To Scrolling Progress Bar To Blank Desktop W/cursor?
May 5, 2010
When I try to do a clean install of Windows 7 I get the loading files white progress bar you normally get during an installation, it then goes directly to the scrolling progress bar that would normally appear before a Windows startup, and then goes to a blank Windows 7 desktop with only a cursor (that I can move).I have a computer with the following specs:[CODE]I have tried to install with every version I can get my hands on, both 32 and 64 bit. None of them are upgrade versions. I've tried installing on a fresh WD Raptor and an Intel G25 SSD. All other drives have been disconnected. I've moved my memory around and tried with one stick. My mainboard has the latest official BIOS, although there is a new beta.
I ran the Windows 7 compatibility test and didn't see anything that would cause this problem.I have searched the internet and have not been able to find a solution sonstalling Windows XP has never been a problem, just Windows 7, always with the same problem. This is one of the few times when I have not been able to look around a find an existing answer to a problem and I am stumped.

My old HDD was fried so I decided to use my External HDD to boot off. Afterreformatting the drive I have installed it into my laptop and have attempted to install Windows 7 64bit and its all going great until after the starting windows screen and then it just turns black with the cursor. What I have tried so far....- I have reset the BIOS to defalt-Cleared the CMOS- Checked the RAM (even left 1 2gig stick in and tried that?)

i have a dell optiplex 780 desktop computer with 160GB hard drive and 4GB ram and its a 64-bit OS , I had a windows 7 installed on it but once my couzin used it and he put on a password on thw windows and then he obviously forgot the password but anyway i couldn't get in to my user so i googled and tried some ways to crack the password but didn't work so i kept restarting my computer to try new passwords and at one point my computer just wont work after the windows logo , Now it just goes blank after the windows starting up logo , so i decided to do a new clean windows 7 (32-bit) but when i choose to boot it from the CD room and it asks me to press any button to boot from Cd or dvd and i do press but after loading the files i get a blank screen and it would just stop, i can hear the cd running and all but no display

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on my PC again, and came to a blank screen after the reboot. I have the PC hooked up to a TV using the S-Video output on my graphics card, and suspect that win 7 is using the DVI port instead. There is no way at the moment that I can use the DVI port because I don't have a monitor that supports it.
is there a way around this so I can use the S-video output for the rest of the installation?

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a new SSD, my old hard drive crashed. My video card is an onboard ATI Radeon HD 4250. Initial setup works fine, but when the computer reboots it comes back up blank. I'm already running two monitors, one VGA and one DVI, and safe mode doesn't work either, I've tried booting from a flash drive and a dvd with exactly the same results.

After few seconds start screen disappears and is repalced by a Black/Blank screen with only mouse pointer. Mouser is working but there is nothing on screen to click on. Keyboard is working fine too. (checked with NumLock and Caps Lock keys)
Nothing happends beyond this point even after rebooting and repeating above process.
Searched internet for above problem symptoms. Looks like Windows 7 decides default monitor on its own. There is no way to decide it yourself duing installation.
My motherboard has two ports. 1 DVI and 1 analog. I have only 1 Analog monitor and do not plan on buying/having another monitor.
DVI to analog convertor is not available in market to test display from DVI port.
Could somebody please help?

I have a 64-bit HP dv6-2155dx, with 4 GB RAM and I am running Windows 7. When I have multiple Internet Explorer tabs open, and I am scrolling over the thumbnail previews of these tabs down in the taskbar area to see what pages are currently open, every few minutes or so my cursor will hang/freeze for a split second and then go skip back to normal movement. It doesn't matter if I am using my touchpad mouse that is on my laptop or a wireless mouse via USB. It's becoming kind of annoying..

The blue screen seem to accour when trying to load a Cubase (music production program) file, randomly. Can work for hours without anything happening. Can someone plz tell me what file it's pointing to? Or if its hardware related. So far I only get blue screens when my firewire sound card is connected and I'm running Cubase. But I don't wanna blame the sound card - it's too expensive for that Before reinstalling windows last BSOD was pointing related to OrangeWare Corp. (usbehci.sys) - I have NO idia what this file is.Could it be my PSU? 2 years old 560w Hiper - Supposed to be high quiality.Should I run my memory using bios XMP profile? Tried it once, but the cpu got hotter so i disabled it.

I can't copy/paste (I now get the scrolling arrows in it's place); even when the cursor is in positioned correctly, I have to press the keys a few dozen times before the letters appear, windows won't update anymore. I restored to before the last windows update, but that didn't help. If it helps. my bot's a Dell & the mouse/keys are wireless (all batteries replaced).

I am running windows 7 professional on a 1tb HDD. I recently got a new 120gb ssd, and it is very fast! However, I am trying to figure out how I would migrate just my critical OS files over to the SSD without doing a clean install of Windows 7. Any working programs or workarounds to do this? (Without Data Loss).

I am going to be doing a clean install on a Dell desktop. I see on the Windows sticker that it says Windows 7 Pro OA.
Does OA mean some type of OEM installation?
Will that product key work if I install Windows 7 Pro from the iso file I got from the Digital River site?

I've just done a clean install on a blank hard drive of windows 7 ultimate x64. I had this exact version of windows on another hard drive but I did something and now I can't boot into it any more. So I want to transfer all my files and stuff - I can link up and view everything on my old hard drive, it just won't boot - is there any software or any easy way to transfer my program files so that I don't have to reinstall them all? Also, I'm not sure how to transfer all my windows settings - is it just a file somewhere that I copy across? I've had a look at 'windows easy transfer' but it looks like it only works if you can boot into both operating systems - which I can't.

Can you load 2 family computers man & wives in one house and the third one (Fathers) in a second house ??
These Computers are all running Vista.
Thats 3 licences total & 3 family members.
I understand these are all Upgrades 3 The question is do the computers have to all be in the same house?
That seems stupid to me but who knows?
Also a clean install to me is loaded from the computer startup is Win 7 doing a clean install from Windows desktop?

I was all good working on my computer when I decided to restart my computer because "rocketdock" (a dock program) didn't open a folder and gave me the "open with" dialog instead.
Background:- I've installed a lot of updates recently, including SP1. The windows is customized i.e. some files are edited. I used tune up registry cleaner, which caused a problem in Chrome, so I used a command found on the Internet, it made tons of errors (which was mentioned by the one who suggested the command) and the computer CPU was fully loaded, the command was replacing files, or something like that. When I remember the command I'll post.
PS: "Ctrl+Alt+Delete", "Ctrl+Shift+Esc", and "Ctrl+L" don't do anything. PS2: Safe Mode loads into the same screen.

I thought I would start to describe this issue by telling you what I screwed up on and how I made it happen: I accidentally set my backup drive as my primary (set the partition as active in CMD, it has no installation on it). Then when I went to boot my device, it would tell me that Windows was not installed. I put my C: (main, primary) partition as my default again (with CMD on installation disk) and I was able to get Windows to boot. Then I messed with the MBR to try to fix it and now this happens:
Current problem: When I boot Windows, it give me the old Vista-looking boot scroller (Not "starting windows" with the traditional animation). This animation only lasts for about 3 seconds, then it goes to a black screen with the cursor. That is all. Nothing loads, yet no error message. I tried using a few bootrec commands to fix it using the installation CD's CMD but no luck.

I've run into a problem that's preventing Windows 7 from loading normally. The problem starting happening yesterday, when my computer froze up while I was surfing AGV antivirusver since then, I cannot make it past the "Starting Windows" screen. Afterwards, instead of going to the "Loading" screen, my screen goes to blank.Since I could still bring up safe mode, I've tried the following things, with either no success, or Windows can't detect anything wrong:1. Performed a System Restore to a day earlier.2. Startup Repair didn't detect anything wrong.

YOU MUST DO A CLEAN INSTALL. There is no upgrade path. There are user migration tools you can use, but you will need to backup your files and do a clean install. I have seen several threads about this and just want to clarify. The upgrade from Windows Vista is a valid upgrade path, but Windows XP to Windows 7 is not.

I'm considering going from vista to windows 7 (32 bit to 64 bit which I have checked is possible on my laptop). However, I have a couple of programmes on my current laptop which I have lost the disks for (e.g Microsoft Money) or I bought and downloaded from the site e.g recovery software.Given I need to do a clean install, is there anyway of me being able to backup these programmes and then reinstall with windows 7?

I've run into a problem that's preventing Windows 7 from loading normally. I'm still able to bring up windows in safe mode perfectly fine. The problem starting happening yesterday, when my computer froze up while I was surfing GameFAQs, forcing me to perform a hard reset. Ever since then, I cannot make it past the "Starting Windows" screen. Afterwards, instead of going to the "Loading" screen, my screen goes to blank, with a message that it cannot detect an input and my pc just hangs there.Since I could still bring up safe mode, I've tried the following things, with either no success, or Windows can't detect anything wrong:
1. Performed a System Restore to a day earlier.
2. Startup Repair didn't detect anything wrong.
3. WIndows Memory Diagnostic didn't detect anything wrong.
4. Performed an Error Check on my hard drive with the built-in Windows tool with auto-repair on.
5. I rolled back my video card drivers (Nvidia GTX 460) to a previous version.

what I have: Vista 32 bit system - 2 hard drives
what I want: Win 7 64 bit system - 2 hard drives
what I want to do: a clean install of Win 7 64 bit on the primary hard drive
the second hard drive is free to be used as a backup location during the clean install process
question: how do I backup all critical data to the secondary hard drive before doing a clean install on the primary drive? and then how do I reinstall the data from the secondary drive back to the primary hard drive with the new Win 7 64 bit system on it?
