View 4 Replies View RelatedSo my sister gets hold of a computer in the house and ruins it, and here is the dilemma I am facing: I turn on the computer and right away i come to this message....
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
windowssystem32configSYSTEM
Attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the Original CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.
So I enter the cd rom and press 'r' for repair, I choose C:windows, however before it can begin to repair it asks me for an 'Administration Password' which I have no idea of after many attempts.
I do not want to have to format the pc since I have some very important files on it. Any help is appreciated.
Trying to install XP on a SATA W.D. Raptor I've did it before but now when I put the floppy in for the Drivers I keep getting TXTSETUP.OEM missing I've checked the floppy for its contents and it is there, The drive has XP Pro on it now but been running it for a year and like to clean it up.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI reecently installed Vista on my computer to try it out and after a few weeks wanted to change back to XP Pro as has some things i did not like.
Here's what i did:
1. I booted into BIOS and changed the bootup to cd/dvd.
2. Booted with my Original CP PRO cd (Not bought with my computer bought after).
3. followed the instructions and deleted the partition on C and formatted (Full not Quick) the C: drive with NTFS.
It gets to the stage that the SETUP is copying files and after 43% and says it cannot copy file WOWEB.exe and to press Esc to skip, F3 to QUIT and ENTER to try again.
It does this with a whole lot of files (Over 30) then after skipping thise files it reboots and gets the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!!!.
I have 2 DVD drives and tried both with the same result. I tried a differant Windows XP disk with the same results.
The motherboard has a backup facility which i had backed up previously with XP but not fully and can restore to that point but i want a complete reinstall.
I have formatted and installed windows XP with that disc loads of times without any problems before.
what should i do?
I am reformatting and reinstalling Windows XP Home in my dell inspiron 600m and I got the following error during the installation:

Anyone know how to fix it? What happens if I choose to ignore the warning and install the Windows anyway?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows XP Professional, service pack 1 is installed. A few days ago the PC would not boot up. I had to reinstall Win XP Pro. All my programs had to be reinstalled because Windows did not acknowledge they were there. All 23 of them work fine. Here's where I ran into a problem. I use a Matrox G200 Quad card with TV Tuner. I downloaded and installed the software for the card and that too is fine. When I download the software for the TV part of the card to work, I double click on the unzipped set up file and it starts working, that gets to the part where it says "Preparing to Install" then it just disappears. It worked before the reinstall of windows. How can i figure it out.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHad to reformat my drive and now whenever i use my win xp sp2 install disc...i first format the drive and create the proper partition..the windows disc then starts copying files to the computer but at a point i get an error message saying that windows setup cannot copy the file...and it tells me which file. I redid this several times and each time at a some point in the copying it gives me this error...each time with a different file name
What should i do at this stage?
I've got a message popped up that says I need to install XP service pack 3.
I let it install, but it gets stcuk on the following error:
"Setup cannot copy the file wscsvc.dll"
It gives the path for the file as:
c:windowssystem32
I've checked in the path and the file definitely exists.
The message below the error says:
"Ensure that the location specifield below is correct, or change it and insert 'Windows XP System Files'in the drive you specify"
This message does not make much sense to me.
Is there a particular application running that could be stopping access to this file?
I've tried closing down all applications: but still no joy.
What am I doing wrong?
i am trying to install windows xp pro (sp2) on my new pc but i get this message:
"setup cannot copy the file: sprb0402.dll".
does anyone know what's going on?

My mainboard is an Asrock AOD790GX/128MI am trying to set up a fresh install of windows XP pro SP3 on a single hard drive.I don’t want the RAID feature just the AHCI.I have set OnChip “SATA Operation Mode” option to AHCI and connected my HD to the SATA1 port and my DVD drive to SATA4 port.I have made a floppy disc with the AHCI driver “AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller- x86 platform” for xp from the included mainboard CD. The only driver present although I don’t need RAID I have booted my computer with my windows XP CD in. Then pressed F6 when prompted. I then put my floppy disc in with the driver on and press "S" I then select "AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller-x86 platform" and press enter.

Two computers running windows xp professional and each computer has 3 different NIC cards. 1 wireless, 1 wired through switch and 1 wired directly. I used the network setup wizard to configure file sharing however neither computer can see the other's shared folders. The only firewall running is the default windows firewall. I suspect it has something to do with the different NIC cards and it is trying to find shared folders using the wireless as opposed to through the LAN.

View 5 Replies View Relatedwas getting a blue screen 07A was told by computer techs without looking it was either my hard drive or my operating system. Checked my hard drive several different ways and no problems. So I went to do a Windows XP repair instead of complete reinstall as they are a pain. After a long time it came back that couldn't do this because SPCMDCOM>SYS file was missing and couldn't repair from recovery console without it. My hard drive was replaced by Dell in July of 05 I think. What can I do without going to extremes? Secondly can I install my cd/dvd rom on my other Dell PC with discs I already have? I am very aggravated. I want to try to save at least 1 computer. On the 1st PC about 2 months ago I had my 17 inch flat panel go out it starts but then go black, I am using the 2nd computers screen!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've setup Windows 2003 fax services on a W2K3 server and shared the device. I've tested faxing from Word on my PC and it works fine. However, when other users try to install the fax client, the setup hangs asking for the fx* setup files. I've tried different XPSP2 CDs, copying the files to a local directory, making sure that the users have local admin rights (and even domain admin rights) but to no avail. The files are already in the system32 directory so in theory the setup doesn't even need to copy them. Even if I delete them, it doesn't work. Our corporate SMS team reckons that there isn't any policy which could
cause the problem.
I started an upgrade for xp pro part way through the install I got a message "WatchDriverSigningPolicy.exe" no found I pressed enter then got another message "fake setup call himself instead original "setup.exe" ; setup abort!" now each time I reboot it starts to load xp then gives me the same message then press enter it then reboots.
