i try to import an audio track in wmm and it says its corrupted

I have had this problem for quite a time now. Everytime I try to download a file it is corrupt.For instance, I tried downloading a movie clip off rapidshare and although its only 3 files and 300MB, it always came as CRC error check failed. I tried downloading it from multiple servers of rapidshare but had no success. I also tried downloading other files yet I am having no success downloading anything.

Had to reformat my drive and now whenever i use my win xp sp2 install disc...i first format the drive and create the proper partition..the windows disc then starts copying files to the computer but at a point i get an error message saying that windows setup cannot copy the file...and it tells me which file. I redid this several times and each time at a some point in the copying it gives me this error...each time with a different file name
What should i do at this stage?
I have two partitions on the same drive and both had Win XP installed. I decided to reformat the second partition, and for no particular reason decided to install Win 2000 there. Now on boot up I get the normal boot.ini menu but if I choose XP I get an error that says Win 2000 has a missing or corrupted file: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEMd……..SYSTEMd not a misprint! I hit reset and choose Win2000 at the boot menu and Win 2000 comes up OK . I tried to repair 2000 and I re-installed it but still get the same error. I tried modifying the boot.ini file but it didn't.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI turned on my computer and windows didn't start up. It didn't even go into post or anything. What came up was that there was a corrupted file. winntsystem32 configsystem. I know this means that that file is missing but I cannot fix it because I don't have my Windows XP CD nor do I have a Startup Disk so I could recover the register. What I have done was, got a BART CD and booted from it and windows loaded but I don't know how to fix or find the corrupted file.

i think it's a compatibility issue but the problem is that i launched the same setup files b4 and they worked,,i have WINXP Pro SP2 and i think i've had this problem after i installed the SP2,,i right-clicked the setup file and i changed some of the compatibility options and it still doesn't work.
Got this error at 20% while copying the data and files.. it prompt me Setup cannot copy the file: kodak_dc.icm If you are installing from a CD, pls put the correct CD inside..the cd are original and it new, i have no problem repair last time..now got this error.?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI wrk for a company that has a server with Windows 2003. There are multiple 2000 and XP users who map drives from the server. Now here is where the problem begins. 2000 has no problms at all mapping drives. XP however has an issue with one folder. No matter what letter you pick, when you map the drive you get an error message "Setup requires a different version of windows. Check to make sure you are running setup on the Windows platform for which it is intended. Error 102" First of all im not running any type of setup. Im merely mapping a drive. This error occurs regardless of what drive letter you pick. And the really weird part, is once mapped the drive will open in Explorer or any other mode EXCEPT through My Computer and double clicking on the drive. If you right click the drive and hit open or explore, both will open the drive just fine. You double click and you get the error. When you right click the drive you also get an "autoplay" feature which makes no sense being its a folder on the server.
It acts like it has lost its association. Like if a JPG file is associated with nothing it wont open, but if you tell it to open with paint then it will. Its really weird and after weeks of searching i have found not a single similar problem to this one i can relate or get help from. It just plain makes no sense. I am going to unshare and reshare the folder when everyone leaves and see if that helps, but it works fine in 2000 currently and not in XP just in my computer.

View 7 Replies View RelatedCan someone tell me why, when I open a notepad file, whether from notepad or from Start Documents or what have you, I always get an error message: "Windows cannot find [file locationfilename.txt]. Make sure you type the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search." However, the file does open in notepad behind this error message and I am able to view it, edit it, etc.
I would like this error message not to appear every time (it is really just an annoyance to cancel it every time but after a couple of years I am tired of it) so I tried to find this answer in the archives but to no avail. However, I saw that it was recommended by more than one tech guy (or gal) to save a "hijack this" file in notepad, so I followed the instructions and did that just after my latest error message... I went to try to install windows xp onto a computer that already had windows on it. I did not boot from the cd. To do it without using the cd it has to copy the installation files to the computer and then run them. When setup does this it creates a new choice of an operating system to boot from called "Windows XP Setup." So now I have a Windows XP and a Windows XP setup. I've been in msconfig and looked at boot.ini but that didn't help

I think my windows XP is corrupt. When I am in any browser my computer completely freezes and I have to shut the power off in order to restart. If I reinstall XP will I loose all of my programs, etc. I have never done this before and am a littled worried about doing so. I have done everything else I can think of. My system is clean otherwise, just locks up when browsing.
XP was corrupted and caused a Memory dump while loading. I had to reinstall the program. Now I have multiple personality disorder in that I have at least two sets of users that I would like to merge as I only have one of me. How can I get the program to merge all users into one? Is it possible? If I can't get it done I will just wipe the whole drive losing valuable data and start over. I really don't want to do that but I can't find half of my stuff now so...
My box runs Windows XP Service Pack 2 32-bit home edition with AMD Athlon, Maxtor (ribbon cable'd, not SATA) with 3 sticks of 512MB DDR2 RAM. I haven't touched the hardware in about a month and a half.
Symptoms:
Shows the windows XP pro login randomally; once logged in, background shows, explorer.exe doesn't run, and no windows hot keys respond. (every 1/8 boots)
Services and programs randomally quit out and will not run. Restarting them results in another crash

I am trying to delete some of my Internet links from my Favorite Folder, but the error message I get is "Cannot Delete [name of link]: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." I have tried overwriting it with a file of the same file name, but I only get a new error message which says, "Cannot move [name of link]: A file with the name you specified already exists. Specify a different file name".
I have even tried shifting to Safe Mode, but to no avail. I still get the same messages. When I double-click on these files, I get the error message saying, "The target "" of this Internet Shortcut is not valid. Go to the Internet property sheet and make sure the target is correct". I cannot even move them out of the folder into another one that I made that I named "Dead Shortcuts". When I tried to move them, I got yet another error message saying, "Cannot move [name of link]: The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable". When I open Properties, nothing is there except the "General" tab. There is no "Web Document" tab or "Security" tab.
I recently reinstalled Windows XP Home w/SP2 on a system and everything worked well. I also installed a Seagate 500 GB HDD as a slave drive. I had no problems assigning a drive letter (D:) and mapping it as a network drive. Then yesterday, a Windows error message popped up saying there was "Delayed Write Failure" or something similar. It was at that point the the slave drive became inaccessible. I can still see the drive in My Computer but that is all. I went into disk management and click on properties, it says the file system is "RAW". I have no idea what that means.
The drive is still assigning a drive letter (d:) and it says is it is healthy (active). However, when I try exploring the drive it says "D: is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable"." I then tried using CHKDSK to check the drive for errors in the DOS prompt. But again, nothing happened. I used Seagate Diagnostic tools to scan the drive for errors. There is nothing physically wrong with the drive as it passed all the tests except for the file structure test.
