When trying to install Windows XP Pro I get the following error message "Setupdd.sys cannot be loaded error 14. Setup can not continue. Press any key to exit."
Anybody have any ideas how to solve this?
I recently tried to reinstall my operating system (Xp Home) on my Dell Latitude CPt I am able to boot from CD and it initializes the installer but when the Kernal Debugger starts i get an error messages that says "The File Setupdd.sys could not be loaded The error is 4 press any key to exit" is there a way to wipe the Hard Drive and start new and if so how could i do so.

I wrk for a company that has a server with Windows 2003. There are multiple 2000 and XP users who map drives from the server. Now here is where the problem begins. 2000 has no problms at all mapping drives. XP however has an issue with one folder. No matter what letter you pick, when you map the drive you get an error message "Setup requires a different version of windows. Check to make sure you are running setup on the Windows platform for which it is intended. Error 102" First of all im not running any type of setup. Im merely mapping a drive. This error occurs regardless of what drive letter you pick. And the really weird part, is once mapped the drive will open in Explorer or any other mode EXCEPT through My Computer and double clicking on the drive. If you right click the drive and hit open or explore, both will open the drive just fine. You double click and you get the error. When you right click the drive you also get an "autoplay" feature which makes no sense being its a folder on the server.
It acts like it has lost its association. Like if a JPG file is associated with nothing it wont open, but if you tell it to open with paint then it will. Its really weird and after weeks of searching i have found not a single similar problem to this one i can relate or get help from. It just plain makes no sense. I am going to unshare and reshare the folder when everyone leaves and see if that helps, but it works fine in 2000 currently and not in XP just in my computer.
Every time I reboot a setup window appears. When I click the next button an error say can not install on windows NT.

Inside the blue band there is the words .NET Framework Initialization Error Inside the box there is a red blob with an X in it and the words :WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFramework|v2.0.50727mscorwks.dll could not be loaded There is then an OK button which when I press it the PC loads properly. The machine seems to run OK. I am satisfied that I have no viruses or spyware. I am running XP Home SP2 I do not have a Windows disc as my PC came with Windows installed. I have made recovery disks and reinserted them but this has not made any difference.

However when I close the error message it keeps popping up every 20 seconds or so. When I went to microsofts website that told me that service pack 2 was installed on my pc. When I close the box, i lose my desktop, and can't run a bunch of programs, including the "run" option. I am able to run my browsers and get on the web. I did do a system restore, and it worked at first, but then on the next reboot, i got the error message again. Did another system restore, same thing.

I�m having many problems during the instalation of microsoft net framework. First of all this occur cause i was trying to install NET FRAMEWORK 3.0 on my computer but the instalation never ended and it give me some errors, so i uninstall every version of the program trying to reinstall them again (i read this may be a solution (i use add/remove programs and a clean up tool specified for removing net framework)), first i try installing 1.0, but a message says that i already have it installed, then 1.1 which i could install fine, then the SP1 for 1.1 says that i need version 2.0.5556 in order to install this service pack, then i try to install 2.0 but an incompatibility error appears referring that i may have installed " framework 2.0 sp1" (wich i don�t), then i try installing 2.0 sp1 but i get a "setup error" nothing else, same when trying with 3.0.
i have try different things like starting/stopping msiexec (on safe mode), installing and removing net framework several times or trying to install IIS (wich i couldn't cause i dont have the original windows cd) as possible solutions, but this problem is driving me crazy! Is there a solution like uninstalling all, installing all again without format? i think it maybe has something to do with file extensions missing, i read something about MSI files, but im not share.
I can't login to my computer so I was doing a repair with the setup disc and got a registry error.I don't know what to do because I can't log in to fix the problem.

i think it's a compatibility issue but the problem is that i launched the same setup files b4 and they worked,,i have WINXP Pro SP2 and i think i've had this problem after i installed the SP2,,i right-clicked the setup file and i changed some of the compatibility options and it still doesn't work.
ok, after I unzip the program I click on the setup.exe and get this message: "C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for runnung MS-DOS and Mircosoft Windows application. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application." I had this program before so I know it can be run on xp.

At first i was able to get to windows setup (Blue screen) when i had the disc and partitioned to install the XP Disc. The computer restarted and i get to "press any key to continue (with the disc)" and i do so and it says "set up is inspecting your computers hardware" and then screen turns black and nothing appears. When i take the disc out it says "Error Loading Operating System". I can't really do much of anything now. Only screen i can get to is f1 to the "bios setup utility".I have an HP a450n.. I was having problems with picking up wireless networks using my USB wireless adapter. Uninstalling and reinstalling the program for the adapter didn't fix anything, in fact, it made it worse. So I thought I would try using an XP CD to correct the problems that way. I had no idea that XP CDs weren't all the same.I put the CD that I had for my IBM laptop in the HP and it started to install.
