i am trying to install windows office 2007 but after a minute from start of installation ,it popup dialog box saying setup can not find setup.exe file and say browse valid installation source and click ok.
I don't know whats happening.I have just formated my C drive and installed fresh copy of windows xp.

Recently I've been trying to install XP SP2 on a system that was recovered using an XP upgrade disc that only had SP1. The setup program gets through backing up, creating a restore point and so on, but during the actual file installation process, an error causes setup to abort and undo all changes made (rollback). "Service Pack 2 Setup Error." is the title bar, and "The system cannot find the path specified." is the message, the only option is to click ok, which opens the XP SP2 uninstall wizard. I've tried using Subinacl to reset security settings, tried installing in both safe and normal modes, used chkdsk /r and /p and tried installing again, and each time got the same message.

I've tested faxing from Word on my PC and it works fine.However, when other users try to install the fax client, the setup hangs asking for the fx* setup files. I've tried different XPSP2 CDs, copying the files to a local directory, making sure that the users have local admin rights (and even domain admin rights) but to no avail. The files are already in the system32 directory so in theory the setup doesn't even need to copy them. Even if I delete them, it doesn't work.Our corporate SMS team reckons that there isn't any policy which could
cause the problem.
I started an upgrade for xp pro part way through the install I got a message "WatchDriverSigningPolicy.exe" no found I pressed enter then got another message "fake setup call himself instead original "setup.exe" ; setup abort!" now each time I reboot it starts to load xp then gives me the same message then press enter it then reboots.

"Setup Cannot Continue". At this point it says to press F3 to reboot. So I remove the XP Disc and reboot. It then gives me an option of picking which system to log onto out of 3: Win Xp Media Center Edition, Win XP Media Center Edition again, or Windows XP Professional (which I've never had by the way. I have to choose the first one and it will go back to my computer. My computer has been having a lot of problems, so I just want to do a fresh install of XP and start over. View 6 Replies View RelatedI mistakenly launched XP Setup and want to know how to stop it from progressing further. I have another XP installed on another virtual disk. Rebooting from there allowed me delete the Setup files. Or so I thought ! The main XP installation however continues to try to launch Setup. Just about whatever I do, it ends in tears. My question is how do I stop XP on this disk from thinking it has to launch Setup? I dont want to reinstall XP, as that will involve a huge amount of work to recreate my environment.

I have tried two new drives now and it is simply not getting past this point. I have gone in to the bios to ensure it is booting from Windows Operating System CD and it is still not finding. HP told me I have to check motherboard? Is there anything else I can do or am I going to need to buy a new laptop (the old hard drive is no longer working...started making weird noise).
Iv got a Gateway MT6705 laptop with Windows Vista Pre Installed and I dont like it one bit. But when I went to install Windows XP Professional SP2 It says No hard drive found. It has 120Gb SATA hard drive installed using a Intel SATA Controller.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to get into my Dell Dimension 8400. It may be I am having problems due to the SP3 update but I cannot get in to see if it is there and uninstall it. (It started going to the blue screen and I cannot do anything from any of the safe mode screens...they are just black with "safemode" in all 4 corners.) I have read up on the SP3 problems on the microsoft forums and found instruction on how to take care of it. It starts with the Recovery Console and the XPCD.

I have a Dell PC. I installed a copy of Windows Vista on it. I don't like it, so I am trying to reinstall XP Home. When I click on the cd drive the XP Home CD is in, it brings up the menu, but the "Install Windows XP" option is grayed out. I try to boot from the disk, but when it is done loading all the things and I tell it I do not want to repair, but to install, it says "setup did not find any hard disk drives installed on your computer" and makes me reboot my computer. Vista still works fine, I know the Hard Drive is working
I have just purchased a Campaq Presario laptop v3607TU. It came with only "FreeDos" installed. If I boot up, it goes to the c prompt, and I can see call the directories on the hard drive. inserted my Windows XP bootable disk into the CD/DVD slot, and restarted. Ever since I installed a Lite-On DVD-RW into it, it started making a lot of noise (a bit like the sound of a typewriter tapping) and started crashing. I removed the DVD-RW drive, only for the problem to continue. The computer kept crashing (often showing the blue crash screen, other times showing a black 'insert floppy disk' screen, sometimes just restarting itself). Running the Windows disk check utility at start-up would not work - the computer would freeze while the disk scan occured (I tried many times). I ran disk registery programs (ie- Registry Mechanic, etc), anti-virus software, defragmentation, etc. etc. but the problem remained. Yesterday, I decided I would try reinstalling (or restoring?) Windows XP again (with the intention of fixing the problem without deleting my personal files on the computer). However, upon instertion of the disk, Windows XP claimed it could not reinstall, as the Windows version on my computer was too recent. I assumed that the reason for this was that I had installed Windows XP Serice Pack 2 and so the version was too recent for the installation disk. So, I thought I would uninstall service pack 2 and then try to reinstall Windows XP. However, while uninstalling service pack 2, the computer crashed. Since then, whenever I try to startup Windows, the computer restarts after about 30 seconds of loading. I can enter the startup screen which gives you access to entering through Safe Mode, Debugging, etc - however entering through these modes has the same problem though with the computer restarting before reaching Windows. So, I entered the computer BIOS at startup and changed it to load via CD, inserting the Windows XP disk. I tried to use the 'Recovery Console' option, however the error message "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer" showed. It then asked me to restart the computer by hitting F3. I then tried to use the Windows install option by restarting the computer and loading the Windows XP disk, but the same "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer" message showed. So, i cant load the computer, nor reinstall the software. I dont want to lose all the files on my computer.
View 9 Replies View Relatedrunning XP setup from CD to try to do a repair results in "no installed drives found." when placed in another system as a slave, its found as quickly as the master HD is when its alone, and seems to function normally - chkdsk & surface scan find no errors & kaspersky finds no MBR or other problems. i even used TestDisk to rewrite the partition table and MBR to no avail. i'm able to copy off all my files, but would like to know if there are other things i can try. is there a way to XP setup repair / replace boot files on a drive other than C:? or can i use anything from a working system to fix the slave drive? can i ghost the partition and put it on a new HD and run repair there or will the boot problems be copied with the image?

my system crashed for no reason. when i started it back up, it was in dos with the menu of 4 boot options. hard drive, cd rom etc.. it wont boot from hard drive so i put the windows disc in and tried to boot from it. it tried to setup but it said it cant find a hard drive and to exit setup.

I�m having many problems during the instalation of microsoft net framework. First of all this occur cause i was trying to install NET FRAMEWORK 3.0 on my computer but the instalation never ended and it give me some errors, so i uninstall every version of the program trying to reinstall them again (i read this may be a solution (i use add/remove programs and a clean up tool specified for removing net framework)), first i try installing 1.0, but a message says that i already have it installed, then 1.1 which i could install fine, then the SP1 for 1.1 says that i need version 2.0.5556 in order to install this service pack, then i try to install 2.0 but an incompatibility error appears referring that i may have installed " framework 2.0 sp1" (wich i don�t), then i try installing 2.0 sp1 but i get a "setup error" nothing else, same when trying with 3.0.
i have try different things like starting/stopping msiexec (on safe mode), installing and removing net framework several times or trying to install IIS (wich i couldn't cause i dont have the original windows cd) as possible solutions, but this problem is driving me crazy! Is there a solution like uninstalling all, installing all again without format? i think it maybe has something to do with file extensions missing, i read something about MSI files, but im not share.
I can't login to my computer so I was doing a repair with the setup disc and got a registry error.I don't know what to do because I can't log in to fix the problem.

i think it's a compatibility issue but the problem is that i launched the same setup files b4 and they worked,,i have WINXP Pro SP2 and i think i've had this problem after i installed the SP2,,i right-clicked the setup file and i changed some of the compatibility options and it still doesn't work.
ok, after I unzip the program I click on the setup.exe and get this message: "C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for runnung MS-DOS and Mircosoft Windows application. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application." I had this program before so I know it can be run on xp.

At first i was able to get to windows setup (Blue screen) when i had the disc and partitioned to install the XP Disc. The computer restarted and i get to "press any key to continue (with the disc)" and i do so and it says "set up is inspecting your computers hardware" and then screen turns black and nothing appears. When i take the disc out it says "Error Loading Operating System". I can't really do much of anything now. Only screen i can get to is f1 to the "bios setup utility".I have an HP a450n..
