I'm trying to install UPnP on my system but I get this error message. The
dll file IS there. I have tried downloading the file from the internet and
Browsing to it on the desktop but it always gives this error message.
Why can't Windows accept this file?

I reecently installed Vista on my computer to try it out and after a few weeks wanted to change back to XP Pro as has some things i did not like.
Here's what i did:
1. I booted into BIOS and changed the bootup to cd/dvd.
2. Booted with my Original CP PRO cd (Not bought with my computer bought after).
3. followed the instructions and deleted the partition on C and formatted (Full not Quick) the C: drive with NTFS.
It gets to the stage that the SETUP is copying files and after 43% and says it cannot copy file WOWEB.exe and to press Esc to skip, F3 to QUIT and ENTER to try again.
It does this with a whole lot of files (Over 30) then after skipping thise files it reboots and gets the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!!!.
I have 2 DVD drives and tried both with the same result. I tried a differant Windows XP disk with the same results.
The motherboard has a backup facility which i had backed up previously with XP but not fully and can restore to that point but i want a complete reinstall.
I have formatted and installed windows XP with that disc loads of times without any problems before.
what should i do?

I am reformatting and reinstalling Windows XP Home in my dell inspiron 600m and I got the following error during the installation:
Setup cannot copy the file vga.dll.
Anyone know how to fix it? What happens if I choose to ignore the warning and install the Windows anyway?

Had to reformat my drive and now whenever i use my win xp sp2 install disc...i first format the drive and create the proper partition..the windows disc then starts copying files to the computer but at a point i get an error message saying that windows setup cannot copy the file...and it tells me which file. I redid this several times and each time at a some point in the copying it gives me this error...each time with a different file name
What should i do at this stage?

I've got a message popped up that says I need to install XP service pack 3.
I let it install, but it gets stcuk on the following error:
"Setup cannot copy the file wscsvc.dll"
It gives the path for the file as:
c:windowssystem32
I've checked in the path and the file definitely exists.
The message below the error says:
"Ensure that the location specifield below is correct, or change it and insert 'Windows XP System Files'in the drive you specify"
This message does not make much sense to me.
Is there a particular application running that could be stopping access to this file?
I've tried closing down all applications: but still no joy.
What am I doing wrong?

My mainboard is an Asrock AOD790GX/128MI am trying to set up a fresh install of windows XP pro SP3 on a single hard drive.I don’t want the RAID feature just the AHCI.I have set OnChip “SATA Operation Mode” option to AHCI and connected my HD to the SATA1 port and my DVD drive to SATA4 port.I have made a floppy disc with the AHCI driver “AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller- x86 platform” for xp from the included mainboard CD. The only driver present although I don’t need RAID I have booted my computer with my windows XP CD in. Then pressed F6 when prompted. I then put my floppy disc in with the driver on and press "S" I then select "AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller-x86 platform" and press enter.

I have a HP laptop that once ran on Vista. This summer before I left for college,I decided that it was finally time to downgrade to XP,seeing as I had backed up everything, and classes would be starting in a week.So I did the usual thing. Insert CD, restart computer,"A problem has been detected, and Windows has shut down...."Blue Screen of Death. The Stop Message: 0x0000007B (0xF78D254, 0x00000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

I am using Windows XP Professional, service pack 1 is installed. A few days ago the PC would not boot up. I had to reinstall Win XP Pro. All my programs had to be reinstalled because Windows did not acknowledge they were there. All 23 of them work fine. Here's where I ran into a problem. I use a Matrox G200 Quad card with TV Tuner. I downloaded and installed the software for the card and that too is fine. When I download the software for the TV part of the card to work, I double click on the unzipped set up file and it starts working, that gets to the part where it says "Preparing to Install" then it just disappears. It worked before the reinstall of windows.How can i figure it out.

My system is:
P4 3.8
1gig ram
MSI 925XE Neo board with Intel 925XE chipset
2 Maxtor 250gig hard drives in RAID 0 (stripped) (i think)
I seem to be missing vital files for the Intel 82801FR SATA RAID controller.
I run my recovery disk, press F6 to load the controller drivers and insert the floppy. I then choose the SCSI adaptor from the list (82801FR). It then seems to load the file 'iaStor.sys'. After then pressing enter, setup loads some more files then gives me the option to delete the existing partition and then select the unpartitioned space. I then choose to format the partition using NTFS. Then it formats and shows this info;
c/partition 1 (new Raw) 478742 free space
478742 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on iaStor (MBR)
Once the formatting is finished i recieve the message;
Set up cannot copy the file: iaStor.sys
To skip press esc
To quit press F3
When i skip the file it says;
Setup cannot copy the file: iaStor.inf
When i skip this it says;
Setup cannot copy the file: iaStor.cat
If i continue the installation, the pc blue screens when windows boots up.
I have mutiple floppies from various sources containing these files but none of them work.
These are the files i have on the floppies;
iastor - system file - 457kb
iaahci - security catalog - 8kb
iaahci - setup information - 3kb
iastor - security catalog - 8kb
iastor - setup information - 3kb
txtsetup.oem - OEM file
license
readme
These are the files i need but they just wont copy.

I've setup Windows 2003 fax services on a W2K3 server and shared the device. I've tested faxing from Word on my PC and it works fine.However, when other users try to install the fax client, the setup hangs asking for the fx* setup files. I've tried different XPSP2 CDs, copying the files to a local directory, making sure that the users have local admin rights (and even domain admin rights) but to no avail. The files are already in the system32 directory so in theory the setup doesn't even need to copy them. Even if I delete them, it doesn't work.Our corporate SMS team reckons that there isn't any policy which could
cause the problem.

When booting from an old Windows 98 bootdisk to install Windows XP (with slipstreamed SP1) I allways got this message: "Setup was unable to copy cdrom.sys".The problem was known at Microsoft (knowledge base) and they even got a solution for it (dude!).In the config.sys on your disk there will be a line somewhat like this: "device= /d:cdrom" simply change the cdrom to something else like : "device=..... /d:DVDRAM" and it will work.

I'm in the process of repair/recovery of my machine (Dell Inspiron 8500 with Windows XP Home, Service Pack 2). I'm following exactly the instructions in:
http://attachments.techguy.org/attac...chmentid=62075, but a problem has developed. The "software" file (which is the file that the original blue screen error message says is "corrupt, absent or not writable") will not copy to the new tmp directory to create the backup. My understanding from the article is that this backup file (software.bak) will later be used to restore correct settings for various software applications. Since I can't copy it, it appears that I am screwed,

In trying to copy a set of files that look to be in ascending sort order from a hard disk directory to a USB thumb drive, XP copies the last few, then starts at the beginning down to where it started. Eg. if in order as 01,02,03,04, 23,24 , XP will copy 23, 24, then 01,02,03 etc. until all the files are copied. This screws up any opportunity of getting these files in sequential order on the USB device. I tried copying this way, deleting the out of order ones and copying the rest in sequence only to have XP do the same thing. This file copy method must be a way of efficiently copying files but it sure messes up the order of files on the USB device.

I have been trying to install a RAID setup and I can't get past the windows installation. I have set up the BIOS correctly and I've tried using 2 different RAID floppys and still won't setup. I start the windows installation and at the F6 prompt I press the F6, when it asks for the drivers I press S and first load the Nvidia RAID driver and then again I load the Nvidia storage driver as per instructions and the installation goes until it starts the windows set up and stops right there. If I only load the Nvidia Raid driver then the set will start. The second floppy I tried using was for SATARAID floppy. Same result If I load the Nvidia SATA storage driver then It stops at Windows installation setup. I have tried installing a bootable setup and a nonbootable with no luck.
