When i do system repair it comes up with a cmd saying im missing files or something i will post pics if needed.I tried running a program that SIW2 gave to me with the cd and idk what to do.
View 2 RepliesRecently my desktop has started having issues. I purchased it new in january and within this last month when I start it, it gets stuck in the startup screen. When I try to do startup repair it always is unsuccessful. When I view the details it lists this "problem signature 07: Bad patch" I have tried doing a system restore to every point it lists and it says "the instruction at 0xfba8ca53 referenced memory at 0x06e2f90f. The memory could not be read. Click ok to terminate". When I try to enter safe mode it doesn't work either.

After booting up again it is now stuck on windows 7 logo screen on startup. I tried booting up on safe mode and last known good config. but it didn't work. Also tried to use windows installation disk but it doesn't work either it just keep loading on "setup is starting" also tried "repair my computer" option but it just show me just a plain black screen

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T400 with Windows 7 32 bit.When I got home today and wanted to turn my laptop on, I couldn't get past the startup screen, displaying the thinkpad welcome message. I have tried pressing the ThinkVantage button, and all the f buttons, esc, delete, nothing works.I have also tried inserting my Windows disc into the disc drive but that does nothing either.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently got my first SSD after me original HD crashed and lost the windows files. So I decided to get windows 7 for it, I tried installing it from a USB and read the thread about it but with no luck. So I decided to go with my original windows xp cd and then upgrade to windows 7. I started up the comp and had it boot from cd, formatted the new SSD and installed the windows xp files. My comp then rebooted as normal for this and now it stays at the Asus motherboard screen for about 35-40 sec before going to a black screen with the blinking _ at top left and restarts just to do it all over again. I can hit Tab and if gives me the info, detects the Cd-rom, SSD and my usb keyboard. I have the option to hit alt+f2 to load the flash drive, but there is none saved in bios. I hit Del to run setup and everything is detected. WhenI fit f8 to try and boot from the SSD (to let windows continue to install) it goes to the black screen _ flashing or restarts immediately.

I can get it to turn on with the battery out when I plug it in but I am stuck on a red screen that has the compaq logo. In the bottom left it says Press the ESC key for Startup Menu. Nothing happens when I press ESC, I am just stuck on this screen.

I don't have much information on this laptop since we are on vacation. The only thing my daughter told me was that Windows was preinstalled. The laptop is ASUS.
Before I start this happened after updating the motherboard BIOS from version 1.4 to 1.7, I went to 1.6 after just in case the latest BIOS had a bug
I've been stuck on the startup repair for almost 5 hours saying that it's repairing my hard drive or whatever (i forget exactly what it said), I first booted linux to check the SMART data on the HDD (i now know that I can do it with HBCD too) it came back all fine. I am now running Hirens Boot CD and DRevitalise to scan and repair bad sectors.

I do have a DxDiag on the desktop of the pc in question which I could get if needed (to tired to do now)
Edit: Reinstalling is not an option I will consider unless there is nothing else that I can do.
Edit: Turns out there is a tool from WD for HDD testing, am running that now instead if the last one.
I have a Dell Inspiron and a while ago I shut down my PC and the next morning I was faced with options to repair my computer. It hung on the screen for ages before it actually came up with startup repair and supposedly fixed the problem. A few days later, everything got very slow and started to freeze a lot and before long, booting the computer got very slow as well as it hung for about ten minutes on a black screen after the 'welcome' screen before finally starting up. I decided to reinstall the operating system (I did NOT reformat the C drive), so I borrowed my Grandma's external hard drive and copied my files. After reinstalling using a Dell Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Re-Installation DVD, I copied and deleted the files off the external hard drive onto my PC (I didn't know it would create a Windows.old folder) and started installing programs. Then I left it overnight to install quite a big program. This morning, somehow it had turned off. I turned it on and it gave me the safe mode options and a 'start windows normally' option. I chose the latter and after typing my password it hung on the welcome screen again. I left it for ages and it just went back to the user login screen again. I pressed the red button in the corner to shut it down but it just hung once again on an empty screen so I did a hard shutdown (held down the power button). I turned it on again...startup repair. It gave me the option for system restore, which I did (then realising when it finished that I hadn't made a backup). I booted it, and again it wouldn't start properly. At this time, safe mode booted fine. After trying various things (even using a compressed air can to get rid of dust) and a few hard shutdowns, suddenly every option from the advanced boot menu took me to startup repair except 'Repair your Computer' which gave the normal options for repair (although now it only gives me 2, Startup Repair and DataSafe Restore and Emergency Backup. Now when I do startup repair, some times it says it has fixed the problem, and sometimes it says it cannot be fixed automatically and gives me information on the problem (a few things it said were: 'StartupRepairOffline', 'AutoFailover' and 'CorruptRegistry').
I can't reinstall my computer because then I would lose my precious files.
Is there some way I can save my files and reinstall or even just save my files somehow or am I screwed?
my laptop will not load up. I can get it to the screen where it says repair computer, safe mode and all that. (advance boot options) but anytime I click any off them it goes to a screen where it says I need to put in the windows installer disk. I do not have any disk but I downloaded the repair disc from my other laptop. I put the disk in the computer and restart it and it just goes back to same screen. It does not automatic rebot, or ask me to rebot from disk.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have an hp touchsmart tm2 tablet with an intel i3 processor. i started having problems after a windows update. at first it was freezing often, then once in a while it said it wasn't an authentic version of windows (but it is), then on random occasions it was telling me i had hard drive problems. Then it started freezing completely after 2 minutes of use, and now it won't even get passed the windows startup screen.Every time i start a scan of any sort it gives me the "scan failed" message, restarts and gets stuck again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI tried to flash drive on another computer it worked fine, but on my desktop it will not..If i turn my dektop on without the flash drive it comes up and says Reboot and Select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.If i insert the flash drive it freezes..If i start the computer with the flash drive in, it wont even get to the screen it freezes at the screen that tells me to press f12 for this, esc for that etc etc.This person has the same problem..And I cant boot from my origonal Hard drive because I believe its gone bad, If i start it with that hard drive it says Reboot and select proper boot device, its like it doesnt even recognize it, which im guessing means its gone bad.. But it wont freeze with that hard drive, but I also cant do anything

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my computers power supply and graphics card to brand new ones. When I oot my computer up, it is now stuck on "windows is starting" screen. When I try to boot in any of the safe modes, I load up to atipcie.sys then my computer freezes and never continues to load the rest of safe mode. When I click repair computer, I get stuck at the Blue windows screen, and as soon as it starts up a cmd box pops up then quickly closes before I could even read it. I also tried loading last working configuration but no luck. Even when I load boot recovery mode, a cmd box comes up quick then closes and continues to be stuck.

I have gone through the recovery start up, pressing F8 to get to the screen, after pressing system recovery, it just takes me to a blue screen and then back to the page that tells you windows failed to start up normally. I have tried safe mode, the same thing happens and then I tried last known good configuration. That led me back to a blue screen with nothing happening except the lights on the front of the computer blinking white several times, then orange back and forth. At one point it did go to a black screen with the lights on the front blinking, but it did that forever and nothing happened

It doesn't always happen, but I have to do a hard reset everytime it does. I already set the HD to never turn off, so I am just wondering what else i can do to stop this freezing?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI share my computer with my father in order to pay off a debt I owe to him, and when I arrived home in the afternoon I was greeted by him, informing me that my computer wouldn't turn on. Generally this would simply be a random issue, or perhaps he turned off the computer and thought it was in sleep (though he's smart enough to tell the difference.). This time, however, was different.I turned the computer on, and to my horror the splash screen shows and then the computer hangs. The only responsive key is Tab, which then shows me the detailed POST description. It tests my memory and shows my processor, etc as well as my drives, but after that it freezes at 'Looking for IDE drives...'. At that point, the only responsive (often it isn't responsive either) key is Delete, and that simply shows a 'prepare to enter Setup' message, and proceeds to do nothing else.I have already tried draining my capacitors (turning my PSU off and holding down the power button), removing and replacing my CMOS battery, continually restarting it, pressing multiple buttons, removing and then putting back my GPU (had to in order to expose my battery) as well as disconnecting and then reconnecting my two drives. I've considered reseating my RAM, but in my past experience doing so has done nothing for previous, similar problems.Both of us have done absolutely nothing that could have damaged the BIOS.

I have a Dell studio XPS desktop computer with windows 7 home premium service pack 1.The processor is an Intel i5 CPU,12gb of ram,64-bit system. I have noticed that recently when I navigate to different screens the web pages will not load up fast until I move the cursor slightly. If I do not move the cursor the page takes forever to load up. I have run scans for viruses and everything comes up negative. I have also changed out the mouse but it still does the same thing. What would cause this and how can I fix the problem.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy computer was working fine a couple days ago and all of a sudden got a terrible Trojan that would spam me with random IE ads. So I ran ad-aware and it got rid of the problem. I went to bed relieved but woke up to my computer in a black screen with just a single cursor "_" flashing. I figured it was a fluke and restarted. same problem.
So I decided to open up the computer and check the SATA drive connections. Everything looked fine but the problem still persisted. I decided that it could just be slot number 1 and moved it to slot 3. The computer would start up and go to desktop but all of my icons disappeared and the computer would just hang if I tried to open any file or go on the internet or any program.
Obviously, it was because the SATA drive was now in a new slot?? I'm not sure. But I put it back into slot 1 and went into the BIOS setup and sure enough, it was a "not detected" for slot 1. The main HDslot.
I tried to reset the BIOS using the jumper method and it still just hangs on black screen with cursor "_" flashing...

I am not trying to install Windows 7, it came on my computer and has been working fine for over a year now. I restarted my computer a few days ago (after it had been working just fine) and now it will not load past the "Setup is Starting Services" screen. I keep getting the error message "Install Windos: The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click 'OK' to restart the computer, then restart the installation." I cannot figure out why it is mentioning anything about installing windows when it came on the computer and has been working until now. I have hit "ok" and it does nothing but come back to the same stuck point. I do not have a disk for this computer as it never came with one. It is a Toshiba Satellite L455D.
View 4 Replies View RelatedToday I started up my pc and after the BIOS screen (the place where you can press f8-f11 for various options) it went to a black screen with a blinking underscore in the upper left corner and stayed there indefinitely. It did this even after reboot.
I tried using the diagnostic tool and everything it tested passed (including HDD). I did this test twice and the same results were produced.
I also googled for similar problems (one topic mentioned that the op disassembling his computer and physically tapping a chip on the motherboard caused it to work) but I have no experience with taking apart my computer and i do not want to break it accidentally. I did however chance upon a topic advising him to do a CMOS reset which apparently helped that op, so i looked through the various options on the BIOS page. There was one option (f10 I think) mentioning CMOS on its fourth sub-window, so i pressed the reset option but I'm mot entirely sure if I used the right function.
I uninstalled kaspersky pure and replaced kaspersky pure for kaspersky anti-virus yesterday, dont know if this was the cause. I am using windows 7 64 bit.
I am having a problem with windows 7, when i start the computer it says loading files and then goes directly to startup repair. I cant even get into the computer in safe mode or anything else by pressing f8 when istartup. It just keeps on this startup repair loop.Its states startup repair checking for problems, it attempts repairs but then it says it cant repair this computer automatically. I have tried system restore, sytem image recovery and tried to restore the computer to its factory state. when i try that i get a error 0x4001001300001002. I didnt get any recovery disks when i bought the computer either.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI was using EASUS partitioning tool to repartition my hard disc a few days ago as my C: drive was running out of space. I merged the C: drive (which is my system drive) with my D: drive (which contains a lot of data as well). All seems to be going well, but after the usual reconfiguration and restart, my windows 7 is stuck in the startup repair screen. Windows is trying to repair my startup without success, which is resulting in a loop. Fortunately i am able to go into safe mode and save my data.

After restarting the computer it went to a black screen. It won't do anything past that. I've tried starting it in safe mode but always with the same result. I have no idea what to do with this short of taking it to Best Buy to have the geek squad take a look at it and frankly I don't feel like doing that.

View 12 Replies View RelatedMy computer is running normally but without the Welcome screen at startupAfter the Windows7 logo the screen goes black and does not show anything (the blue Welcome screen) until it auto login to my desktop.If I create 2 account, I will have to blindly press enter to choose an account to login. But after log off I can see both of them.Normally its fine but if there is some updates, the computer will install the updates under black screen.
