When I start up my computer, It shows the DELL logo. Then, it shows a grey bar that spans the screen saying "Windows is loading files..." Next a green bar that says: "Microsoft Corporation" Startup repair automatically starts. It runs for a little while and then it says:
"Startup Repair cannot repair cannot repair this computer automatically

->Dont Send

If I click advanced View advanced options for system recovery and support, I get a list of things to do.System Restore and System Image Recovery have no restore points. The Windows Memory Diagnostic comes up with nothing. I do have access to the Command Prompt.

So, I'm not exactly sure what I did. I was clearing up some space on my computer after using the Norton Removal Tool to get rid of this Norton trial popup that came up everytime I booted my computer. Now, after it told me to restart, it seems to be stuck in an endless boot cycle that resets itself after showing the Windows logo. I've since tried running startup repair, which freezes as it shows the progress bar for 'Windows is loading files'. Safe mode will not work, either. It just sends it back into the boot cycle. Not sure what to do at this point. My computer came pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, so I don't have any startup discs.

My granddaughter has a laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed. I went to turn it on after charging it and the Startup Repair window comes up. I can't get any System Repair options except for Startup Repair which can not repair the computer automatically. This is the problem details listed:

Recently my desktop has started having issues. I purchased it new in january and within this last month when I start it, it gets stuck in the startup screen. When I try to do startup repair it always is unsuccessful. When I view the details it lists this "problem signature 07: Bad patch" I have tried doing a system restore to every point it lists and it says "the instruction at 0xfba8ca53 referenced memory at 0x06e2f90f. The memory could not be read. Click ok to terminate". When I try to enter safe mode it doesn't work either.

Before I start this happened after updating the motherboard BIOS from version 1.4 to 1.7, I went to 1.6 after just in case the latest BIOS had a bug
I've been stuck on the startup repair for almost 5 hours saying that it's repairing my hard drive or whatever (i forget exactly what it said), I first booted linux to check the SMART data on the HDD (i now know that I can do it with HBCD too) it came back all fine. I am now running Hirens Boot CD and DRevitalise to scan and repair bad sectors.
System Specs:
i5 3570k @ stock
MSI Z77 GD55 BIOS Version 1.6
8GB Kingston HyperX 1600mhz
Running HD4000 graphics
500GB Blue WD HDD
I do have a DxDiag on the desktop of the pc in question which I could get if needed (to tired to do now)
Edit: Reinstalling is not an option I will consider unless there is nothing else that I can do.
Edit: Turns out there is a tool from WD for HDD testing, am running that now instead if the last one.

My laptop keeps running Startup Repair during every startup and I can't boot my computer normally. I tried running Startup Repair multiples times but I'm still getting the same problem. Also, System Recovery did not work.What happens is Windows just starts to boot up for a few seconds, it says "Windows Starting", then the screen goes black for a second and it says "Windows is loading files..." and a loading bar fills up, then it goes black for a while and then the startup repair starts. The Startup Repair then says it cannot repair this computer automatically so I have to shutdown the computer. Problem signature:Problem Event Name: StartupRepairOfflineProblem Signature.

For some reason my PC doesn't seem to want to load windows 7. I've had no problems until today, the only things i have changed is that I installed Bioshock 2, after I installed it my PC stopped reading DVDs yesterday (until I reset it, then continued to work normally). For some reason when I turned it on this morning it went into startup repair and said the Event Name: StartupRepairOffline.I have tried using system restore to 3 different points (2 of them before Bioshock 2 was installed and 1 being system restore point from yesterday). After I do any of them the computer restarts then does exactly the same thing again saying that I have don't system restore at all (as the 3 restore options are still available)

I have a Dell Inspiron and a while ago I shut down my PC and the next morning I was faced with options to repair my computer. It hung on the screen for ages before it actually came up with startup repair and supposedly fixed the problem. A few days later, everything got very slow and started to freeze a lot and before long, booting the computer got very slow as well as it hung for about ten minutes on a black screen after the 'welcome' screen before finally starting up. I decided to reinstall the operating system (I did NOT reformat the C drive), so I borrowed my Grandma's external hard drive and copied my files. After reinstalling using a Dell Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Re-Installation DVD, I copied and deleted the files off the external hard drive onto my PC (I didn't know it would create a Windows.old folder) and started installing programs. Then I left it overnight to install quite a big program. This morning, somehow it had turned off. I turned it on and it gave me the safe mode options and a 'start windows normally' option. I chose the latter and after typing my password it hung on the welcome screen again. I left it for ages and it just went back to the user login screen again. I pressed the red button in the corner to shut it down but it just hung once again on an empty screen so I did a hard shutdown (held down the power button). I turned it on again...startup repair. It gave me the option for system restore, which I did (then realising when it finished that I hadn't made a backup). I booted it, and again it wouldn't start properly. At this time, safe mode booted fine. After trying various things (even using a compressed air can to get rid of dust) and a few hard shutdowns, suddenly every option from the advanced boot menu took me to startup repair except 'Repair your Computer' which gave the normal options for repair (although now it only gives me 2, Startup Repair and DataSafe Restore and Emergency Backup. Now when I do startup repair, some times it says it has fixed the problem, and sometimes it says it cannot be fixed automatically and gives me information on the problem (a few things it said were: 'StartupRepairOffline', 'AutoFailover' and 'CorruptRegistry').
I can't reinstall my computer because then I would lose my precious files.
Is there some way I can save my files and reinstall or even just save my files somehow or am I screwed?

I have had Win 7 installed for a while now).
Here is a summary of my problem:
1) My computer recently got stuck on the "Starting Windows Screen." So I manually held the power button to reboot.
2) On reboot, it said there was a need to run a startup repair, which I did. Everything checked fine, except for the last one which said "System Volume on Disk is Corrupted," which it claimed to have successfully fixed.
3) After rebooting from repair, the system gets stuck on "Starting Windows Screen" for a good 10-15 minutes, after which it runs a registry check. After it completes that I get hopeful -- but the screen then gets stuck on an all black screen with just the mouse cursor and nothing more.
4) Additional note: Attempting to start the computer on "safe mode" leads safe mode startup to become stalled on "DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS"
5) The lastest attempt to repair yielded this message: "Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically.

1 year back I upgraded vista to windows 7 Home premium.3 days back I had problem - my starting windows page was hanged and was not proceeding forward, also All types of safe mode was getting stuck on classpnp.sys.After reading many forums I booted with USB (mounted with windows 7) and used command prompt and deleted all "pcmcia" realted files from C drive. Now using F8 function I can't use any option (all option safe mode, low resolution, startup repair,etc won't work, even changes in Bios setting won't work). Also now while booting my PC with USB, after starting windows page, black screen appears with white arrow and it won't go further this black screen so now I can't even use command prompt & Installation option

I am having a problem with windows 7, when i start the computer it says loading files and then goes directly to startup repair. I cant even get into the computer in safe mode or anything else by pressing f8 when istartup. It just keeps on this startup repair loop.Its states startup repair checking for problems, it attempts repairs but then it says it cant repair this computer automatically. I have tried system restore, sytem image recovery and tried to restore the computer to its factory state. when i try that i get a error 0x4001001300001002. I didnt get any recovery disks when i bought the computer either.

Everytime I start my computer it goes into startup repair searching for problems. I tried going to F8 into safe mode but it goes bac to searching for problems in statup repair. Is there any way I can bypass it from going to startup repair page and go into windows.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop which is only a few months old. Here is the problem: i was trying to uninstall the trial version of office 2010 (after failing to activate it properly) and after going into control panel and clicking on "uninstall" to remove the office 2010 software, the computer automatically shut down and restarted and went into startup repair. after running this a couple of times, it said it was unable to fix the problems and asked to send the report to microsoft. then it just shut off by itself. i turned it back on and chose to "start windows normally." even then it went into startup repair and was again unable to fix the problems. then it just became stuck with a blank screen so i had to force power off. now i am not sure what to do. i don't want to keep restarting it only to go into startup repair and burn something out by turning it on and off so frequently.

I left the computer on for the evening and returned to it this morning only to find the Startup Repair Tool. I have attempt a number of different reboot attempts to no avail. I have a Dell Inspiron N4010 running Windows 7. Last night I was printing off PDF files and listening to a CD when the song that was playing got stuck and the print job I'd just ordered stalled. Then a horrible, loud, relentless sort of whirring noise came out of the speakers and wouldn't stop and the computer was completely unresponsive. This has happened before, last December, and I did what I did then...I just forcibly shut it down. When I started it back up, I could choose between starting normally or running Startup Repair, which was recommended. I swear I chose to start normally, but I can't be totally sure. I walked out of the room to do a couple things and when I went back I saw Startup Repair running and it said it could take over an hour. I had to leave for work in 20 minutes, so I decided to just leave it on. 9 hours later, when I got home, it was STILL going. I tried to cancel, and was informed that the current operation could not be canceled. I forced a shut down again (maybe not the brightest thing but I couldn't think of anything else) and even disconnected the battery. Then I started it up...got the same choice and chose to start Windows...and Startup Repair started again. I managed to cancel and shut down with the OFF button again. Restarted and chose Windows...same thing. Restarted and chose Setup Repair, same result. I cannot do or open anything. I don't know if putting the startup discs in it would even register...and I'm not sure I even have any, as Windows 7 came pre-installed. I haven't backed up my hard drive in a loooong time and I can't afford a new machine.

Doing a Normal startup, or booting from the Windows 7 cd it will get so far as the Starting Windows screen, the Microsoft copy-write shows up briefly greyed out some, and just sits there. In Safe Mode, it loads everything seemingly, lastly avgidsha.sys, then sits on Please wait...I have narrowed it down to hot the HDD or memory. I've put another HDD with Windows 7 on it, getting the same results. The MemTest 86+ cd actually loads and runs, came up 100% with no errors. Other suggestions that I have found use bootable CDs that want to start Windows first.The Windows 7 CD, Windows Defender Offline, Windows Recovery disk all get stuck at the same place as the HDD, the Starting Windows screen

When ever I turn my computer on it is always stuck on the Starting Windows screen and when I try and do it in safe mode it works but was I am signed in all that shows up is a black screen with Safe Mode in each corner. I have also tried start up repair but it says it can not find a problem or it will just continually search for a problem (waited 4 hours then I just turned it off)

my problem is rather odd (or at least I haven't seen it before). Whenever I boot up the netbook it goes right into startup repair, without the option to cancel it, even if I try to start windows in safe mode (or any other startup options for that matter), the system launches the startup repair.The repair itself runs fine (doesn't freeze or antyhing like that), however it is never able to fix the issue ("Startup Repair is unable to repair this computer automatically").

I recently purchased a Dell XPS 15 (l521x) that came with Windows 8. The system boots from the hard drive through UEFI by default, so I think the hard drive is already GPT. I am attempting to install Windows 7 from a UEFI bootable USB. The system goes through the 'copying files' phase and then goes to the Starting Windows screen. As the colored dots of the Windows logo are circling, the system freezes. Can someone help me fix this problem? The following are the steps I took in order to install Windows 7:
- Formatted a brand new 4GB USB drive to FAT32
- Downloaded Windows 7 ISO (I have a key)
- Extracted ISO files to USB
- Made adjustments so that USB is UEFI bootable (efi/boot/bootx64.efi)
- In BIOS, set SATA Operation to AHCI and disabled Secure Boot
- Select USB drive from UEFI boot menu

a week ago my windows 7 ultimate crashed in the starting screen showing the dam blue screen and warning me that windows couldn't start. I went to the self repair tool.It tool like 4 hours to fix the issue. Then it said, that windows will start normally after that. What a lie. After the starting screen I got the black screen, just with the mouse. I tried everything I know, scanning the disk surface with other computer, I used the windows 7 installation CD. And that told me it couldn't find any issue starting windows. What can I try now? This happens evenwhen I boot normally or in any safe mode.

I just finished building my first computer in 8-9 years or so. I was quite excited that my computer booted first time I turned it on but my excitement was soon overwhelmed with defeat. Let me start by linking my computers specs. [URL] I downloaded windows 7 from my schools msdn website I have the key and everything. I then burned it to a dvd. After booting from my dvd drive the loading bar continues and finishes. The 4 colorful balls float around then come together and my computer gets stuck.
Now It's very important to note that I was able to get past this screen after restarting my computer 4 times and I was successfully able to load continue on to installing windows only to get stuck in the same screen while booting from my ssd. Then I thought this issue could've been caused by using my SSD. So I unplugged it and repeated the same process using my seagate HD same thing happened. When I try starting it in safe mode the computer continues on to loading windows but I get prompted to restart it in normal mode so that the installation can continue.

I dropped my laptop this weekend. But it still worked for a few minutes before it froze. So I powered it off and tried to turn it back on. It turns back on just fine, but will continuously load the "Starting Windows" screen. I tried doing diagnostics and repairs, nothing. When I load it in safe mode, it loads up until the ClassPNP.sys, and then freezes.

I recently built a computer, and tried to install Windows 7 OEM on it, but it gets stuck at the screen where it says starting windows and the logo appears. The logo gets smaller and larger. I've been told it might be something with the RAM, but tested it out and that's not the problem.

My laptop is stuck in the system repair screen and just stays there. Here's the background. His laptop was dog slow when he came home from college. The only way to boot it was in safe mode. I suspected a virus and ran multiple AV checks recommended on the Windows 7 support forum. No virus was found. Checkdisk and sfc/ scannow from cmd also failed to complete. Based on additional Forum info, I then tried to repair using the restore disks I made when I bought the Dell laptop. It worked fine until starting the repair and then hung at 1%. Eventually I turned off the power. Next I tried doing a custom Win 7 installation from a new disk (a fresh copy of Windows 7). It still tries to repair from the fresh Windows DVD and hangs on the system repair screen. I have powered off and tried to get back to safe mode unsuccessfully. How do I get out of this loop? BTW, it has not blue-screened at all.

my laptop will not load up. I can get it to the screen where it says repair computer, safe mode and all that. (advance boot options) but anytime I click any off them it goes to a screen where it says I need to put in the windows installer disk. I do not have any disk but I downloaded the repair disc from my other laptop. I put the disk in the computer and restart it and it just goes back to same screen. It does not automatic rebot, or ask me to rebot from disk.

when I boot my machine, the LanmanServer service gets stuck during startup. While this is happening, the OS is basically dead, and any attempt to do anything that involves loading from the HDD will lock up until the service finally starts, which can take upwards of ten minutes.This started around the time I set up a homegroup for all our PC's [all Win7-64 Home Premium], and mine seems to be the only one affected. But this was also the time SP1 came out, so I can't nail an exact cause-effect relationship, making this hard to debug.After doing a LOT of searching, I modified the registry entry to ensure the LanmanServer service starts before the Spooler service [vista unresponsive at startup - lanmanserver - Vista Forums], but that had no effect.Based on what I've seen via the Event Viewer, it looks like the LanmanServer service tries to start, times out, tries to start again, does this a few times, then finally starts up properly.

I recently upgraded my computers power supply and graphics card to brand new ones. When I oot my computer up, it is now stuck on "windows is starting" screen. When I try to boot in any of the safe modes, I load up to atipcie.sys then my computer freezes and never continues to load the rest of safe mode. When I click repair computer, I get stuck at the Blue windows screen, and as soon as it starts up a cmd box pops up then quickly closes before I could even read it. I also tried loading last working configuration but no luck. Even when I load boot recovery mode, a cmd box comes up quick then closes and continues to be stuck.
