Windows 7 OEM Install - Stuck At Starting Screen When Logo Appears

Mar 6, 2011

I recently built a computer, and tried to install Windows 7 OEM on it, but it gets stuck at the screen where it says starting windows and the logo appears. The logo gets smaller and larger. I've been told it might be something with the RAM, but tested it out and that's not the problem.

Stuck On Logo Screen After Install

Jul 15, 2012

Well it had been awhile since I reloaded windows and found out about win8 so I decided to try the new windows 8 release preview. After it installing it, It would go past the windows loading screen and leave a blank screen. Disappointed I went to load windows 7. Installed fine, but after the first restart it will not go past the windows logo screen.

When I say I'm reloading windows I am not formating my harddrive. I'm running a single harddrive setup and have 500gig of entertainment and miscellaneous I have not way to backup. I do the write over partition thing where it throws everything in a windows.old folder. I'm considering getting a solid state just to load windows to. Formatting the current drive is not an option.

I can boot to safe mode, but being this is a new install there is nothing I did to undo.

Stuck On 'Starting Windows' Screen During Install

Dec 26, 2012

I recently purchased a Dell XPS 15 (l521x) that came with Windows 8. The system boots from the hard drive through UEFI by default, so I think the hard drive is already GPT. I am attempting to install Windows 7 from a UEFI bootable USB. The system goes through the 'copying files' phase and then goes to the Starting Windows screen. As the colored dots of the Windows logo are circling, the system freezes. Can someone help me fix this problem? The following are the steps I took in order to install Windows 7:

- Formatted a brand new 4GB USB drive to FAT32
- Downloaded Windows 7 ISO (I have a key)
- Extracted ISO files to USB
- Made adjustments so that USB is UEFI bootable (efi/boot/bootx64.efi)
- In BIOS, set SATA Operation to AHCI and disabled Secure Boot
- Select USB drive from UEFI boot menu

Stuck On Starting Windows 7 Screen?

Sep 11, 2012

Doing a Normal startup, or booting from the Windows 7 cd it will get so far as the Starting Windows screen, the Microsoft copy-write shows up briefly greyed out some, and just sits there. In Safe Mode, it loads everything seemingly, lastly avgidsha.sys, then sits on Please wait...I have narrowed it down to hot the HDD or memory. I've put another HDD with Windows 7 on it, getting the same results. The MemTest 86+ cd actually loads and runs, came up 100% with no errors. Other suggestions that I have found use bootable CDs that want to start Windows first. The Windows 7 CD, Windows Defender Offline, Windows Recovery disk all get stuck at the same place as the HDD, the Starting Windows screen

Stuck On Boot Logo After Fresh Install

Sep 19, 2009

I wanted to dual boot Win 7 64 with my vista 32 but after the install completes and the computer reboots it hangs on the Win 7 boot logo and then just stays there until i turn off the power button. It's kinda like the problem when you have a USB plugged in and the boot logo hangs except there's nothing plugged into the comp. Reinstalled again the the same result. When I look at the win 7 drive from vista it looks like all the files are all there but it just keeps hanging on that logo =(. What should I do?

Also when i try and boot into safemode it hangs on "Classpnp.sys"

I've looked elsewhere and seen that people solved this problem by updating bios but I have the latest version of mine =(

I've tried EVERY boot option in F8 to no avail.

Windows 7 64bits Got Stuck After The Starting Screen?

Jan 6, 2012

a week ago my windows 7 ultimate crashed in the starting screen showing the dam blue screen and warning me that windows couldn't start. I went to the self repair tool.It tool like 4 hours to fix the issue. Then it said, that windows will start normally after that. What a lie. After the starting screen I got the black screen, just with the mouse. I tried everything I know, scanning the disk surface with other computer, I used the windows 7 installation CD. And that told me it couldn't find any issue starting windows. What can I try now? This happens evenwhen I boot normally or in any safe mode.

Windows 7 Stuck At Starting Screen After Loading Bar Finishes

Jan 31, 2012

I just finished building my first computer in 8-9 years or so. I was quite excited that my computer booted first time I turned it on but my excitement was soon overwhelmed with defeat. Let me start by linking my computers specs. [URL] I downloaded windows 7 from my schools msdn website I have the key and everything. I then burned it to a dvd. After booting from my dvd drive the loading bar continues and finishes. The 4 colorful balls float around then come together and my computer gets stuck.

Now It's very important to note that I was able to get past this screen after restarting my computer 4 times and I was successfully able to load continue on to installing windows only to get stuck in the same screen while booting from my ssd. Then I thought this issue could've been caused by using my SSD. So I unplugged it and repeated the same process using my seagate HD same thing happened. When I try starting it in safe mode the computer continues on to loading windows but I get prompted to restart it in normal mode so that the installation can continue.

It turns back on just fine, but will continuously load the "Starting Windows" screen. I tried doing diagnostics and repairs, nothing. When I load it in safe mode, it loads up until the ClassPNP.sys, and then freezes.

Windows Won't Install Hangs At Starting Windows Logo?

May 18, 2012

Okay so I may have buggered something up royally, but I took the CPU out of my mom's computer. Ended up dusting it out, because it was overheating. I wanted to try the phenom out in my board so I swapped them out. It is an HP pavilion a6755y se. I put an Athlon x2 in it and it wouldn't post. I took it out and put the phenom back in and now it won't boot to windows. I reformatted the entire drive and to no avail it still didn't work. I disconnected all USB's attached and I am using a PS/2 mouse and keyboard. This is really frustrating to me. It loaded the default bios settings from when I took the CMOS battery out. Had to change the Sata controller to IDE. When put on ACHI it gave me a screen full of colorful boxes that flashed and really scared me. I am very frustrated and I am wondering where I should go from here. My mom is pissed and she wants her computer back to normal conditionDunno how to flash the bios. It reads all the ram and the phenom that is in its socket so I don't think it's a hardware issue. Although, I can't get a livecd to run for the life of me. I dunno what I have done, but I would like to fix it asap even if it needs new parts. It did take quite a bit of force to get the heatsink off the cpu when I was dusting

Windows 7 Logo No Longer Appears During Startup

Nov 12, 2011

I've had my computer for about 2 months now. Running windows 7 premium and recently when I boot up my computer, after it displays the bios menu, it skips the windows logo screen and goes straight to the welcome screen. I haven't noticed any issues other then this however I did notice strange noises when I booted up and first noticed the logo was missing. I've checked the menus and different options to turn off the logo but there all set to display it. I ran the system file checker and that came back clean as well.

Could it be a gpu issue or a motherboard issue? I did install skyrim recently and it reinstalled directx11 and made a new microsoft c++ file. I am thinking that could be it too. other then that im pretty much out of ideas. there was a few other programs I installed too. evga precision, fraps, nvidia system tools, nvidia system monitor. I restored my system to a point before installing these programs so it cant be those but it hought id add em to the list anyway just to be safe. I didn't however restore to before getting the new C++ file

Computer Stuck On (Setup Is Starting Services) Screen

May 30, 2011

I am not trying to install Windows 7, it came on my computer and has been working fine for over a year now. I restarted my computer a few days ago (after it had been working just fine) and now it will not load past the "Setup is Starting Services" screen. I keep getting the error message "Install Windos: The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click 'OK' to restart the computer, then restart the installation." I cannot figure out why it is mentioning anything about installing windows when it came on the computer and has been working until now. I have hit "ok" and it does nothing but come back to the same stuck point. I do not have a disk for this computer as it never came with one. It is a Toshiba Satellite L455D.

Error Recovery Screen Appears During Windows 7 Clean Install To SSD

Apr 29, 2012

I'm weeks of spasmodic attempts into replacing my old C-drive with a new SSD and a clean install of Windows 7, 32 bit. Here's the current loop: Following Sandisk's instructions on formatting SSD for use as OS with Win 7:

1) I verify BIOS - SATA is (as before) set to ACHI
2) I place Windows 7 upgrade disc in drive, hoping to use "Option 1 - normal clean install" (from Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version )
3) I get "Windows Error Recovery" screen, stating "windows did not shut down normally" (white text on black screen), with two options - start normally, or startup repair.

- if I select "start normally," it merely returns (after a minute or two) to the same Error Recovery screen after some POSTs (nothing other than single-beep) - no request for my input, no "press any key," etc.
- if I select default ("startup repair") option load: "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically" ultimately results after a lot of attempting to repair, etc.

PC will still run Ok from old HD when connected, and shows the SSD in Disk Management with a "System Reserved" 100 MB (F) partition along with a 112GB (E) partition. I keep thinking I need to wipe those and try again, but not sure how or if that's even worth trying. I did have the same SSD up and running Win 7 for a brief time - didn't start at some point afterwards...

Windows 7 Install Is Stuck At "Setup Is Starting"

Jun 24, 2012

I purchased my laptop in January and I'm not really sure what happened, I must have been struck by a pretty bad virus or something because I had a lot of protection and ran regular scans. But anyway, one day I booted up my computer and it said error recovery or something a prompted me to repair my pc but I choose start windows normally, and it loaded normally but just before it could get to the login screen a blue screen error flashed for a split second then my laptop restarted and took me to the error screen again. when I try repair my computer, it takes me tow blank lie screen, ole the login screen, with a cursor in the middle, but no dialog box. I left this running for up to 3 days, so it's definitely not just loading. so I decided my computer is pretty much screwed, and searched for my installation disc it came with. (windows was already preinstalled so I'd never used it before. on startup I pressed f12 and booted from cd rom, then it said press any key and took me to a loading screen, which took about 5 minutes and then to the installation screen. I said my language is English, choose uk English etc. then it says install now or repair your computer. when I click the repair option, I am taken to the same blank blue screen from before. when I press install it says setup is starting... and the loading cursor is spinning, so I know it's not frozen. I left it for half an hour, tried again, and this time left it for 11 hours, but still no setup has started. there can't be anything wrong with my disc, I'd never taken it out of the packet before, and I was very careful not to scratch it. it's a dell operating system windows 7 disc for if you need to reinstall windows on your preinstalled pc.

Stuck At The Windows 7 Logo During First Boot?

Sep 6, 2010

I am trying to dual boot Windows 7 Home Premium and Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop (Toshiba Portege M400). I had Ubuntu 10.04 installed previously but I decided to wipe my hard drive before installing Windows 7. I used GParted to delete all my partition and setup two new ones. I formated the first partition as NFTS for Windows. After that, I proceeded to installing Windows. The first time I tried it, I was successful although I did need to reformat that NFTS partition I had made because it said that the partition table type (GUID) was not compatible. Windows 7 installed fine after that. However, when I try to install Ubuntu, it sees the whole disk as blank. I tried resolving this issue with GParted but that too saw the drive as if it were blank even though Windows 7 was installed. After that, I booted up the GParted Live CD once again and changed the partition table to MS-DOS. My Windows 7 boots up and goes through all the tasks before the first boot up. When it restarts for the first time, it fails to boot; it simply stays on the glowing Windows logo. I've tried formatting the entire disk through the Windows 7 disk and partitioning from there several times and I still get the same results.

Stuck At Pulsating Windows 7 Logo?

Dec 8, 2012

The problem is this. I got a new GPU for my moms computer. She installed it, it worked fine. She played her game for a bit then went to restart the computer and now it wont work. It'll get stuck at the windows logo where it will pulsate but nothing else after (it just keeps doing that). The only other thing we can besides starting windows normally is doing Windows Start Up Repair. We don't get the option to start in safe mode ( I think. We we supposed to hit F8 while on the windows logo to do that?). When we run Start Up Repair, it goes to Windows with some kind of progress bar that just keeps going and going (it's not really a progress bar, more just to show that it's loading something I guess). When we try booting Windows from the disc, we get the same two options "Start Windows Normally" and "Start Windows Repair" or or something like that. The only things we have not tried yet are:*Letting Start Up Repair go for 15+ minutes (we went for 15 minutes but decided to try other things to fix the issue)Taking out the new card and putting in the old card *Going in to Bios and press F5 to set everything to default Resetting Bios (idk how to do this processes but I've reada bit and I can find a guide)We tried press F8, but that just takes us to the boot menu with a list of devices to boot from. If we try to boot from the device with windows on it, it just gives us the options to start Windows normally or run repair. For some reason, we just cannot reinstall windows. We set bios to boot from disc, we even try manually booting from disc via the boot menu, but no go. So booting from disc and repairing or something similar is apparently not an option. What could it be?I am thinking that it is an issue with the hard drive. I don't know. Any thoughts or opinions?I feel really bad at this point. I wanted to help out and I caused this headache Edit: I forgot to mention, I live several hours from her, so I cannot do anything manually myself. Any instructions or tips or whatnot I will have to give over skype

Computer Stuck On Windows Logo Then Restarts

Nov 17, 2012

I'm not 100% sure if this is even the right place to post this, so sorry if it's in the wrong forum. I have a Asus N53S laptop runnin windows 7 32 bit and I am having some trouble with it. This will probably be a large post so bear with me, the first problem I started having was blue screens on startup. I was able to fix the computer by running Startup repair a few times (tool about 3-4 hours) after that it worked for a day but the next day when I turned on the computer it froze and the music that was playing turned into a loud droning noise. After that I ran the startup repair again it did not work so I did a system restore, it seemed to fix the problem but sadly on startup I started getting blue screens again and this time neither startup repair nor system restore would work (I get a message saying there was a unexpected error: the system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002) please close system restore and try again) I re open system restore 5 times and I get the same message.I restart my computer , spam f8 and choose the use last known good configuration. After I restore everything to factory settings and finish installing my steam games and other files I Ty restarting the computer to see if it fixed the problem. It seemed to have worked however that night there was a particularly large windows update (90 or so a one time) I clicked shutdown and let it finish the updates while I went to sleep. The next morning I wake up and turn on the computer it finishes syncing the updates then stays at the starting windows screen ( the logo would not show up just those words and a black screen. After it sat like that for 10 minutes or so I hold the power button and try again ,this time it did the same thing but only for a few seconds and it ran startup repair itself , startup repair could not fix the problem.

Install Hangs On Starting Windows Screen

Nov 17, 2009

When I run the Windows 7 Home Premium OEM disc I get past "loading files" and then freeze on "starting windows". I see 4 little colored balls in the center of the screen (guessing the start of the MSFT logo) and then everything freezes.

Here's what I've got:

Monitor: Samsung T260HD 25.5in Rose/Black LCD w/ATSC

HDD: 2 x Seagate 1.5TB Serial ATA HD 7200/32MB/SATA-3G

Memory: Corsair Dominator 6144MB PC12800 DDR3 1600MHz (3x2)

DVD: LG 22X DVDRW SATA

Motherboard: ASUS P6TD Deluxe Intel X58 Socket LGA1366 MB

Power Supply: Corsair 950w 80 Plus Power Supply

GPU: 5850 is backordered, so am using an old Nvidia 6600 GT to attempt to install Windows - connected to monitor with DVI cable

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium OEM

I've done lots of research and tried:

1. Using a PS2 keyboard/mouse
2. Disabling USB in bios
3. Disabling just about everything else in bios
4. Tried w/ 2MB, 4MB and 6MB ram

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
