Windows 7 Stuck In Endless Boot Cycle Startup Repair Freezes

So, I'm not exactly sure what I did. I was clearing up some space on my computer after using the Norton Removal Tool to get rid of this Norton trial popup that came up everytime I booted my computer. Now, after it told me to restart, it seems to be stuck in an endless boot cycle that resets itself after showing the Windows logo. I've since tried running startup repair, which freezes as it shows the progress bar for 'Windows is loading files'. Safe mode will not work, either. It just sends it back into the boot cycle. Not sure what to do at this point. My computer came pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, so I don't have any startup discs.

I have just built a computer Win7, Intel corei5, 4G memory, and the computer just turns on then turns off. It doesnt even get to a screen to run settup.

I was recently using my girlfriends computer when a message came up saying something about an automatic update then went into a repair mode. Then when the computer restarted it went into startup repair. It says it can't find any problems, and when you restart it, it keeps going to startup repair. The computer originally had XP on it, and her step dad installed 7 right before we moved across the country, so we don't have any kind of install or recovery discs

After a (sloppily done on my part) multiple driver update on 7 Home Premium x64, I've been tossed into Startup Repair. SR goes into an endless repeating loop - never reporting failure, just an endless repeat. I've used the Windows 7 install disk and tried System Restore. Twice System Restore has reported success, yet I immediately end up booting back into the Startup Repair loop.
I am given no options - when I try F8 I'm simply tossed back into Startup Repair. I'm thinking there may be a command prompt way out of the loop, but I'm clueless in that area.

I have a Dell Inspiron and a while ago I shut down my PC and the next morning I was faced with options to repair my computer. It hung on the screen for ages before it actually came up with startup repair and supposedly fixed the problem. A few days later, everything got very slow and started to freeze a lot and before long, booting the computer got very slow as well as it hung for about ten minutes on a black screen after the 'welcome' screen before finally starting up. I decided to reinstall the operating system (I did NOT reformat the C drive), so I borrowed my Grandma's external hard drive and copied my files. After reinstalling using a Dell Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Re-Installation DVD, I copied and deleted the files off the external hard drive onto my PC (I didn't know it would create a Windows.old folder) and started installing programs. Then I left it overnight to install quite a big program. This morning, somehow it had turned off. I turned it on and it gave me the safe mode options and a 'start windows normally' option. I chose the latter and after typing my password it hung on the welcome screen again. I left it for ages and it just went back to the user login screen again. I pressed the red button in the corner to shut it down but it just hung once again on an empty screen so I did a hard shutdown (held down the power button). I turned it on again...startup repair. It gave me the option for system restore, which I did (then realising when it finished that I hadn't made a backup). I booted it, and again it wouldn't start properly. At this time, safe mode booted fine. After trying various things (even using a compressed air can to get rid of dust) and a few hard shutdowns, suddenly every option from the advanced boot menu took me to startup repair except 'Repair your Computer' which gave the normal options for repair (although now it only gives me 2, Startup Repair and DataSafe Restore and Emergency Backup. Now when I do startup repair, some times it says it has fixed the problem, and sometimes it says it cannot be fixed automatically and gives me information on the problem (a few things it said were: 'StartupRepairOffline', 'AutoFailover' and 'CorruptRegistry').
I can't reinstall my computer because then I would lose my precious files.
Is there some way I can save my files and reinstall or even just save my files somehow or am I screwed?

I am having a problem with windows 7, when i start the computer it says loading files and then goes directly to startup repair. I cant even get into the computer in safe mode or anything else by pressing f8 when istartup. It just keeps on this startup repair loop.Its states startup repair checking for problems, it attempts repairs but then it says it cant repair this computer automatically. I have tried system restore, sytem image recovery and tried to restore the computer to its factory state. when i try that i get a error 0x4001001300001002. I didnt get any recovery disks when i bought the computer either.

Everytime I start my computer it goes into startup repair searching for problems. I tried going to F8 into safe mode but it goes bac to searching for problems in statup repair. Is there any way I can bypass it from going to startup repair page and go into windows.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop which is only a few months old. Here is the problem: i was trying to uninstall the trial version of office 2010 (after failing to activate it properly) and after going into control panel and clicking on "uninstall" to remove the office 2010 software, the computer automatically shut down and restarted and went into startup repair. after running this a couple of times, it said it was unable to fix the problems and asked to send the report to microsoft. then it just shut off by itself. i turned it back on and chose to "start windows normally." even then it went into startup repair and was again unable to fix the problems. then it just became stuck with a blank screen so i had to force power off. now i am not sure what to do. i don't want to keep restarting it only to go into startup repair and burn something out by turning it on and off so frequently.

I left the computer on for the evening and returned to it this morning only to find the Startup Repair Tool. I have attempt a number of different reboot attempts to no avail. I have a Dell Inspiron N4010 running Windows 7. Last night I was printing off PDF files and listening to a CD when the song that was playing got stuck and the print job I'd just ordered stalled. Then a horrible, loud, relentless sort of whirring noise came out of the speakers and wouldn't stop and the computer was completely unresponsive. This has happened before, last December, and I did what I did then...I just forcibly shut it down. When I started it back up, I could choose between starting normally or running Startup Repair, which was recommended. I swear I chose to start normally, but I can't be totally sure. I walked out of the room to do a couple things and when I went back I saw Startup Repair running and it said it could take over an hour. I had to leave for work in 20 minutes, so I decided to just leave it on. 9 hours later, when I got home, it was STILL going. I tried to cancel, and was informed that the current operation could not be canceled. I forced a shut down again (maybe not the brightest thing but I couldn't think of anything else) and even disconnected the battery. Then I started it up...got the same choice and chose to start Windows...and Startup Repair started again. I managed to cancel and shut down with the OFF button again. Restarted and chose Windows...same thing. Restarted and chose Setup Repair, same result. I cannot do or open anything. I don't know if putting the startup discs in it would even register...and I'm not sure I even have any, as Windows 7 came pre-installed. I haven't backed up my hard drive in a loooong time and I can't afford a new machine.

my problem is rather odd (or at least I haven't seen it before). Whenever I boot up the netbook it goes right into startup repair, without the option to cancel it, even if I try to start windows in safe mode (or any other startup options for that matter), the system launches the startup repair.The repair itself runs fine (doesn't freeze or antyhing like that), however it is never able to fix the issue ("Startup Repair is unable to repair this computer automatically").

My granddaughter has a laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed. I went to turn it on after charging it and the Startup Repair window comes up. I can't get any System Repair options except for Startup Repair which can not repair the computer automatically. This is the problem details listed:

I have an Emachines E627 laptop. Last night I was doing some school work on my laptop, but then my laptop freezes, gets the blue screen of death and turns off. I then turned it back on, and the Window's screen pops up, quickly goes to startup repair and then it does the repair thing. After about 5 minutes into it, it freezes for about 10 min, then says: "Your computer will now turn off". So, it turns off, I turn in back on again, it goes to the windows start up screen, and does the same process over again

Recently my desktop has started having issues. I purchased it new in january and within this last month when I start it, it gets stuck in the startup screen. When I try to do startup repair it always is unsuccessful. When I view the details it lists this "problem signature 07: Bad patch" I have tried doing a system restore to every point it lists and it says "the instruction at 0xfba8ca53 referenced memory at 0x06e2f90f. The memory could not be read. Click ok to terminate". When I try to enter safe mode it doesn't work either.

Before I start this happened after updating the motherboard BIOS from version 1.4 to 1.7, I went to 1.6 after just in case the latest BIOS had a bug
I've been stuck on the startup repair for almost 5 hours saying that it's repairing my hard drive or whatever (i forget exactly what it said), I first booted linux to check the SMART data on the HDD (i now know that I can do it with HBCD too) it came back all fine. I am now running Hirens Boot CD and DRevitalise to scan and repair bad sectors.
System Specs:
i5 3570k @ stock
MSI Z77 GD55 BIOS Version 1.6
8GB Kingston HyperX 1600mhz
Running HD4000 graphics
500GB Blue WD HDD
I do have a DxDiag on the desktop of the pc in question which I could get if needed (to tired to do now)
Edit: Reinstalling is not an option I will consider unless there is nothing else that I can do.
Edit: Turns out there is a tool from WD for HDD testing, am running that now instead if the last one.

I have a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5132 that just shut down & now will not boot Windows 7. Just goes to black screen w/blinking cursor then goes to 'startup repair' (which I'm postiive this is a virus of somekind) & will not allow me to do anything. Just repeats itself. I downloaded Windows 7 repair to a CD-R, chgd BIOS settings to CD/DVD to boot first, saved changes, and will NOT pull/boot up from disc. I've tried 2diff repair discs, both do not work. 'F8' does not do anything for me, not able to get to 'safe mode'. Computer is only 2yrs old.

I've been having trouble trying to get my computer to boot; I'd noticed a drop in performance (still unsure why) so decided to boot up in safe mode and poke around - it was not my original intention to install AC 5.3.0 but somehow it happened. I ran the 'deep-care' utility and everything was working fine, my computer rebooted and performed a disk check: there weren't any errors that I can remember apart from [something along the lines of] 60 reparse files. Following this my computer restarted and Windows failed to load, restarting to show me startup repair - this isn't the first time this has happened, a similar thing occurred following previous attempts at boosting speed, though before I was able to get Windows up and running using an Ubuntu installation disk... still don't understand why - no need to say that it didn't work this time. Startup repair refuses to work and my system restore points have vanished; I would try doing a repair install if I had a copy of the disk. I built the computer myself a few months back, borrowing a Windows 7 installation disk from a friend (who has now conveniently lost said disk), startup repair does tell me something about 'Problem Signatures'. So yesterday I added another hard drive to my computer. I now have 2 SATA hard drives running in my machine. I used the disk managment, and the 2nd hard drive is working as it should.
However, when I shut down my computer and turned it back on, Windows will boot to the Startup Repair screen every time. I checked the BIOS and made sure the boot order was correct, and even took the 2nd hard drive off the boot order in order to make sure it wasn't causing any issues. It's pretty annoying, because every time I start up, I have to wait for the whole repair process before it will load normally. Each time it always says that there are no repairs that could be made.
I also am not able to put my computer in sleep mode any longer. I believe my BIOS setting is set to S1, and before I never had any problems. I would put my comp to sleep and everything would be fine. After the 2nd hard drive, my monitor will turn off and it sounds like 1 of the hard drives turns off, but the CPU and fan are still running and it does not completely go to sleep.

I've got two hard drives with Windows 7 on it. One of them, the operating system crashed entirely, on the other, it's a perfect copy of how the other hard drive was at factory settings (drivers and all). Now, you're probably wondering, hey, why not use the other hard drive? Thing is, I'm trying to save / keep all the programs on the first hard drive in order to save myself the hassle from 1) pretending I'll find / looking for the disks that I know I don't have and 2) the time it'd take to install them.the machine was *not* giving me anything except sending me over to start up repair, stating that it couldn't fix the problem. I used the other hard drive to boot into Windows, and was hoping to do a repair option on the other hard drive. Unfortunately, I don't think that's entirely possible. I used Hirens Boot CD to check out the System32 / Syswow64 folders, and there was hardly anything in there. So, naturally, started copying off certain sub folders from one to the other. Now, I can get it to attempt to boot / it sees the partition / I go to safe mode, and it hits Classpnp.sys for a split second, then startup repair. Startup repair let's me see that there is one root cause, but, after doing its thing, says that it didn't detect an issue with the startup.

I was told by a professional that my registry was likely corrupted and that my best bet would be to re-install Windows entirely. I was hoping it wouldn't come to that, but was prepared nonetheless.So I inserted the installation disk, and wouldn't you know it, the installer wouldn't recognize my hard drive (BIOS recognizes it though). Searching for reasons why this was happening only turned up people saying to make sure it was recognized by BIOS, which I considered a no brainier. When it still didn't work for people in certain threads, they were told to try wiping their hard drives. I've done it. Windows still doesn't want to notice my hard drive.After that, I decided to try and install Windows to an external hard drive. I know this isn't how Windows was designed, and I knew it wasn't how Windows was meant to be used, but I was (to my knowledge) out of other options (Also, the external hard drive has 1 TB of space on it, so I wasn't concerned about speed loss). So, I searched for ways to do that, and I came across PWboot. The first half of the installation worked, the second half did not. I began getting an error that read (bootmgr is missing press ctrlalt+delete to reboot.) Which I did. But that didn't fix anything. So I tried the entire process again, and it didn't work.The "Repair your computer" feature in the windows install disk turned up nothing as well. I can't "Factory Reset" because it can't detect any installation of windows, the startup repair function can't "repair this computer automatically", and none of the other options will even open (with the exception of the command prompt, but most of the commands aren't valid for some reason.)

I have searched on this forum and Google to see if others are having the same issue. After updating Windows last week, my computer has been in a consistent state of decline. Today, I powered the CPU down and it will not start-up again. I have attempted to use the windows repair disc, but am now told that startup repair cannot fix my problem.

with my custom built desktop. My custom built has been acting up like mad only a month after creation. It worked perfectly at first, but then I suddenly found that half of my services were disabled randomly. As well, my computer kept connecting with limited access to my household wireless connection, quite simply meaning I couldn't connect to the internet.Eventually, after throwing all the solutions I could find on the net at it (sfc/scannow, system restore, enabling the systems manually through and elevated control panel and even upgrade installs (with the original OEM system builders disc), I gave up and did a complete reinstall, wiping everything on my hard drive and starting again.Unlike the upgrade install I attempted, this actually worked and my computer worked perfectly...until I updated windows. I have a toshiba laptop that runs windows 7 32bit home premium and it is not booting properly. When I turn it on t will show the microsoft logo and says "starting windows" but never gets past that point. I have tried all the fixes to no avail including, safe mode (will not boot into safe mode..starts to load but stops at drivers/atipcie.sys and sits there for a minute or two and goes to the repair startup recommended screen. I have tried startup repair and done it many times because I have read it can take several times (it says "startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically") I have tried the windows repair disc using system restore but it says no restore points found, even though i know they are on my computer. All of my school files are on this computer and while I have some of there backed up on a external hard drive there are some more recent files that are not. What can I try without a clean install to try and repair this?

I've had an ongoing war with my PC for four days now. I have Windows 7 and it refuses to start up. Originally I tried starting up normal, it gave me two choices: system repair or start as normal. If I chose normal it would show the windows logo then reset. If I chose repair it would turn black for several minutes, then go to a blue screen for several minutes and wouldn't move past that. So i tried to boot from CD. I have the option of installing windows or repair. I chose repair, once again it goes to the blue screen and nothing happens (and I've left it on this blue screen a good 15 min mind you.) Finally I submitted and decided to just re-install windows. it goes to the starting setup... and sits there indefinably.

I tried turning on my computer today and it gets stuck at the "Starting Windows" logo. It just hangs there indefinitely (usually only takes a couple seconds) and doesn't load. I then tried startup repair, and that just takes me to a black screen. After that, I tried putting in my Windows 7 boot disc to do a clean install, told the BIOS to boot to CD/DVD drive. It tells me to press a key, I do. I get "Windows is loading files" and then it goes back to "Starting Windows" forever, yet again. This happened so suddenly, it was working fine just hours before this.

As of about 3 days ago my Dell Inspiron N7010 (Windows 7 Home Prem 64bit) fails to boot up. It gets to the initial Windows screen before the login screen and freezes, then sends me into Startup Repair. [code] I've tried running the diagnostics and get no error codes. I've tried restore points, memory diagnostics.. pretty much everything except factory image, with no success. I have a lot of government programs installed on this laptop, so.

After rebooting my system, it recommended that i do a start up repair. After the repair completed i recieved the black screen right before choosing USER, so i tried 3x more to repair which each completed but same outcome till the point it just says cant repair automatically . Then i tried to system restore which failed also , but the catch is my system boots fine from Safe Mode.. what to do from Safe Mode to return my boot up back to normal?

Earlier today I tripped over a headphone cord and it flung my computer off my desk. I have an HP omni PC. It's the kind that had the computer and the monitor built together. I picked it back up off the floor. The power cord came out on impact. I set everything back up and was relived to hear it turn on. I selected start windows normally (win 7 64 bit) and it sat at starting windows forever. I eventually manually shutdown the computer. I powered back on and I got an option to start windows normally or use startup repair.
I thought it would be a good idea to go into startup repair. It just sat at the light blue screen with the large white mouse sitting there. Nothing happened. Nothing appeared on screen. I turned off the computer again and am just leaving it there for now. I am worried that the hard drive may have been disconnected from the fall and that's why windows won't start. Or maybe the hard drive was damaged. I tried doing a safe mode boot but it redirected me to startup repair.
