Classpnp.sys, Black Screen During Startup Repair And Boot?
Dec 20, 2011
1 year back I upgraded vista to windows 7 Home premium.3 days back I had problem - my starting windows page was hanged and was not proceeding forward, also All types of safe mode was getting stuck on classpnp.sys.After reading many forums I booted with USB (mounted with windows 7) and used command prompt and deleted all "pcmcia" realted files from C drive. Now using F8 function I can't use any option (all option safe mode, low resolution, startup repair, etc won't work, even changes in Bios setting won't work). Also now while booting my PC with USB, after starting windows page, black screen appears with white arrow and it won't go further this black screen so now I can't even use command prompt & Installation option

i have recently ordered a lappy ASUS K53SV-SX520D from flipkart. the specifications are i5 second Generation processor. it came preinstalled DOS. i tried to install the windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. and i installed successfully. But some problem arose i guess the reason is that i created 3 partitions while installations and from Disk Management i created another volume. of the remaining unallocated space.now when i started the lappy m not able to BOOT. its just the blank screen with a blinking curser. i have tried many times but failed. peoplesolve this problem. its a new laptop and m no even able to start it even once.secondly. someone suggested me to delete the partitions while instaling the Win 7 again. i tried that too.. but all the options to delete, format, new, are in gray. i mean m not able to delete those 4 partitions.

I recently had a windows 7 start up problem. I tried to boot in safe mode but it hung on classpnp.sys and then went to start up repair. It has been trying to fix errors for nearly 9 hours so i figure its not actually working.I have tried to cancel the operation but when i hit the cancel button it says i cannot cannot cancel the repair operation.I have tried to pull the power, but it then just goes through the same cycle and i end up back at the start up repair screen and in able to cancel it or go any further. I cant even get to the repair menu.I figure that i need to reformat and reinstall windows.

As of about 3 days ago my Dell Inspiron N7010 (Windows 7 Home Prem 64bit) fails to boot up. It gets to the initial Windows screen before the login screen and freezes, then sends me into Startup Repair. [code] I've tried running the diagnostics and get no error codes. I've tried restore points, memory diagnostics.. pretty much everything except factory image, with no success. I have a lot of government programs installed on this laptop, so.

I'm using I have a DELL4500S desktop, on startup it will not go to the login screen, the screen is just black with the cursor showing. I've tried restarting the computer, unplugging everything and restarting it. Nothing is working. When it first starts a pop up shows and says "This Application has failed to start because SAMLIB.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem."I'm not sure what it's talking about and what to re install and I can't reinstall whatever it is because I can't get to the start menu.

Hardware Information (This is from memory and may not be completely accurate):The computer model is emachines The processor is a dual core Intel Pentium The graphics card is NVIDIA (Can't remember the model.)4GB of RAM installed Software Information (Also from memory, but this is likely to be more accurate than the hardware.): Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit Antivirus software is Comodo Internet Security - Also the firewall (product information).I often used Advanced System Care for optimization.-product information.after searching the internet for ways to fix my problem for the past three days, I'm at a complete loss. I was told by a professional that my registry was likely corrupted and that my best bet would be to re-install Windows entirely. I was hoping it wouldn't come to that, but was prepared nonetheless. So I inserted the installation disk, and wouldn't you know it, the installer wouldn't recognize my hard drive (BIOS recognizes it though). Searching for reasons why this was happening only turned up people saying to make sure it was recognized by BIOS, which I considered a no brainier. When it still didn't work for people in certain threads, they were told to try wiping their hard drives. I've done it. Windows still doesn't want to notice my hard drive. After that, I decided to try and install Windows to an external hard drive. I know this isn't how Windows was designed, and I knew it wasn't how Windows was meant to be used, but I was (to my knowledge) out of other options (Also, the external hard drive has 1 TB of space on it, so I wasn't concerned about speed loss). So, I searched for ways to do that, and I came across PWboot. The first half of the installation worked, the second half did not. I began getting an error that read (bootmgr is missing press ctrlalt+delete to reboot.) Which I did. But that didn't fix anything. So I tried the entire process again, and it didn't work. The "Repair your computer" feature in the windows install disk turned up nothing as well. I can't "Factory Reset" because it can't detect any installation of windows, the startup repair function can't "repair this computer automatically", and none of the other options will even open (with the exception of the command prompt, but most of the commands aren't valid for some reason.)

On boot it is taking him to the windows 7 startup repair which fails with StartUpRepairOflline AutoFailover CorruptFile
I have suggested the following, all which have failed to make a difference:
bootrec.exe with /fixmbr /fixboot and /RebuildBcd
Run chkdsk
Startup repair
System Restore - two dates tried
The pc is about a month or so old, and I'm thinking it could be a hardware issue, hard drive?
Two things I am going to try when I get there is a WD Diagnostics on the Hard drive, and the sfc

I've been having trouble trying to get my computer to boot; I'd noticed a drop in performance (still unsure why) so decided to boot up in safe mode and poke around - it was not my original intention to install AC 5.3.0 but somehow it happened. I ran the 'deep-care' utility and everything was working fine, my computer rebooted and performed a disk check: there weren't any errors that I can remember apart from [something along the lines of] 60 reparse files. Following this my computer restarted and Windows failed to load, restarting to show me startup repair - this isn't the first time this has happened, a similar thing occurred following previous attempts at boosting speed, though before I was able to get Windows up and running using an Ubuntu installation disk... still don't understand why - no need to say that it didn't work this time. Startup repair refuses to work and my system restore points have vanished; I would try doing a repair install if I had a copy of the disk. I built the computer myself a few months back, borrowing a Windows 7 installation disk from a friend (who has now conveniently lost said disk), startup repair does tell me something about 'Problem Signatures'. Recently my computer has been randomly just giving me the BSOD. Normally this problem was resolved by a simple restart but tonight about an hour before I posted this, the blue screen sent me back to startup but instead of giving me the usual "Security mode" and Regular Startup. It gave me Startup Repair and normal startup. After clicking normal startup just to see if it would correct itself like normal,my pc instantly BSOD'd, bringing me back to my two options. I've been sitting here staring at the startup repair screen for about an hour now.

I get into startup repair everytime i boot my pc which is never successful. I am definitely goin to explain it in detail but dis is basic problem nd plz dont mind typing coz m typing fast on iphone which may cause errors in typing!Yesterday,i used my pc for 7-8 hrs continuosly which is not big deal but due to it i can't figure out my action which caused problem. I kept it on for downloading at night nd when in morning i got boot screen which comes when pc is directly turned off. I did Start Windows Normally nd i got usual windows 7 loading animation for a secong nd den it started startup repair after that everytime i boot it takes me to startup repair resulting in continuos failure. I hv googled nd found many threads but none matched my exact one. Startup infinity loop didn't work. Below r given few conclusions nd obstacles-1.) i can't get into advanced boot options using F8. But i can get into recovery menu using install dvd nd view advanced options frm startup repair.
2.) System restore din't work. I mean its not successful in restoring.3.) bootrec.exe didnt work4.) imp point to be noted is my last update was on 23 dec while pc worked fine on 24 th & 25th dec means dont knw wat happened 25th night that caused this problem on 26th morning.5.) sfc/scannow says "a startup repair is left to be completed." it says to complete that first then use sfc/scannow.6.) chkdsk results in last line saying failed to transfer log......7.) i also get a report like many others about that problem signature.8.) repair install not possible coz windows can't start only.9.)i hv made a backup using cmd but is there any way without clean install?

So yesterday I added another hard drive to my computer. I now have 2 SATA hard drives running in my machine. I used the disk managment, and the 2nd hard drive is working as it should.
However, when I shut down my computer and turned it back on, Windows will boot to the Startup Repair screen every time. I checked the BIOS and made sure the boot order was correct, and even took the 2nd hard drive off the boot order in order to make sure it wasn't causing any issues. It's pretty annoying, because every time I start up, I have to wait for the whole repair process before it will load normally. Each time it always says that there are no repairs that could be made.
I also am not able to put my computer in sleep mode any longer. I believe my BIOS setting is set to S1, and before I never had any problems. I would put my comp to sleep and everything would be fine. After the 2nd hard drive, my monitor will turn off and it sounds like 1 of the hard drives turns off, but the CPU and fan are still running and it does not completely go to sleep.

I've got two hard drives with Windows 7 on it. One of them, the operating system crashed entirely, on the other, it's a perfect copy of how the other hard drive was at factory settings (drivers and all). Now, you're probably wondering, hey, why not use the other hard drive? Thing is, I'm trying to save / keep all the programs on the first hard drive in order to save myself the hassle from 1) pretending I'll find / looking for the disks that I know I don't have and 2) the time it'd take to install them.the machine was *not* giving me anything except sending me over to start up repair, stating that it couldn't fix the problem. I used the other hard drive to boot into Windows, and was hoping to do a repair option on the other hard drive. Unfortunately, I don't think that's entirely possible. I used Hirens Boot CD to check out the System32 / Syswow64 folders, and there was hardly anything in there. So, naturally, started copying off certain sub folders from one to the other. Now, I can get it to attempt to boot / it sees the partition / I go to safe mode, and it hits Classpnp.sys for a split second, then startup repair. Startup repair let's me see that there is one root cause, but, after doing its thing, says that it didn't detect an issue with the startup.
1x Sony Vaio laptop 2x Hard drives (one with a factory restored image on it, another one that won't boot into the OS)The hard drive that I need to boot from / one that has my programs goes to Startup Repair after hitting Classpnp.sys in Safe Mode Startup repair has one thing fail (StartupRepairOffline issue), but says it didn't detect a problem / everything booted fine afterwards Attempted to rebuild the BCD (after successful fixmbr / fixboot), but it states it sees 0 installations of windows. However, I have a Windows 7 retail disk that sees the installation folder.

Okay, so I woke up my computer from sleep mode yesterday, and it worked perfectly fine for all of five minutes before everything except my cursor froze. I waited for it to unfreeze or give me a "not responding" message for about twenty minutes, but when it didn't, I manually shut it down by pressing the power button, since I couldn't get to the start menu. But when I turned it back on, an error message appeared. I don't remember exactly what it said, but it gave me the option to either: "Launch startup repair (reccomended)" or "Start Windows normally". So I chose to launch the startup repair since it said that it would fix anything that had caused my computer to stop working, but it's been "searching for problems" for about five hours now! The blue bar just keeps scrolling past, but other than that, nothing's happening. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or should I call someone to check it out? Will I lose my files? I tried to "Start Windows normally" as well, but nothing happened at all... Oh, and it's an Acer laptop with Windows 7 on it

first I was facing BSOD. So I tried going in by every type of safe mode, But it doesn't work, I just go to a black screen with moving cursor and I can't Open the Task Manager. So I tried system restore, failed with the CD. Then I tried the Grub4dos thing It failed as well. It just brings me to the black screen with white cursor. Also when I start in safe mode, it stucks at classpnp.sys and after awhile It goes to BSOD and reboots. By the way this all started when I installed a game, Dishonored.

I have a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5132 that just shut down & now will not boot Windows 7. Just goes to black screen w/blinking cursor then goes to 'startup repair' (which I'm postiive this is a virus of somekind) & will not allow me to do anything. Just repeats itself. I downloaded Windows 7 repair to a CD-R, chgd BIOS settings to CD/DVD to boot first, saved changes, and will NOT pull/boot up from disc. I've tried 2diff repair discs, both do not work. 'F8' does not do anything for me, not able to get to 'safe mode'. Computer is only 2yrs old.

I recently was away for about a month and I did not use my desktop for that period of time. I tried turning it on yesterday and it would show the BIOS screen and then a black screen. It doesn't display anything else.I tried searching this problem and have tried various suggestions. I tried removing individual sticks of memory to see if it would fix anything. The motherboard keeps displaying FF, but one time it displayed 7F. I'm not sure if there is a problem with my video card or hard drive. I unplugged my video card and completely removed it and brushed dust off and plugged it back in, but that didn't fix it. Sometimes it flashes some text right after the BIOS screen, but it still just goes to black afterwards. What I think is my HDD light blinks sometimes and sometimes it doesn't light up at all. Could my hard drive have died?

I've recently encountered a problem with my 2 year old computer. Sometimes (not always) after turning the computer on and getting the Welcome screen the screen remains black (apart from the cursor). Eventually it may continue loading to the desktop however sometimes it doesn't. It's getting annoying because if it doesn't I have to cold reboot it. The only 'recent' upgrade to my computer was about 2 months ago when I installed a AMD Radeon 7850 OC to replace my overheating ATI Radeon 5770.

Today I was playing a match of Counter Strike: Source on my Windows 7 32-bit pc. During the game my computer had frozen and I was required to reboot my pc, after the reboot had completed and the windows 7 loading screen finished what I was left to see was a black screen... stunned I restarted my pc again and again this black screen. The computer keeps giving me the option to "recover" the start up files but when I click on this option it says windows is loading the files but when that completes it just goes to the windows loading screen then black again.
I have tried putting my windows 7 disk into my drive and using it to restore my pc but it does the exact same thing, loads up and goes straight to the windows loading screen then to the back screen.... I have been trying for hours now to get this to work! What I have: Windows 7 32-bit install disk, Windows 7 32-bit system repair disk, Laptop with windows 7 32-bit and windows 7 32-bit installed and running. Anything you can say to help will be appreacheated.
P.S Sometimes there is a 2x2 pixel green box in the top left hand corner...
P.P.S If there is a solution that requires all files deleted then that option is fine by me.
Its midnight and I'm kinda tired, but after removing all usb devices startup repair has appeared and is trying to fix my errors.

I have encountered a problem that is starting to annoy me. The other day my laptop froze and I restarted. After the flash windows screen it goes black and I can see nothing, doesn't get to the users screen. I have had windows 7 on for 2 months and all has been perfect.
I have tried to install the Nvidia drivers again (re downloaded drivers 179.48 and 186.82 with mod .inf). Both said installed correctly but after the restart still got black screen. Currently I am in safe mode on video controller as the display card. I uninstalled the old drivers as well.
the 179.48 were on previously and I have had no problems until the other day. I am stuck for any other solutions on what to do. I have a dell m1710 with a 7950 gtx. Win 7 build is 7201 64bit. All help would be greatly appreciated as I am at a wits end...
