I could not get my laptop to start today. I took out the battery to rest it. I can get it to turn on with the battery out when I plug it in but I am stuck on a red screen that has the compaq logo. In the bottom left it says Press the ESC key for Startup Menu. Nothing happens when I press ESC, I am just stuck on this screen.
I'm using my tv right now with it, it works fine hooked up to a TV. I've tried everything I know of. When the laptop first starts up, It flashes the red compaq screen, then goes black. Flashes the user login screen, then goes black 2 sec later. When I do the fn+f4, the screen flashes back on, everything looks cool, then 5 seconds later it goes black again. It's not just the light, it goes completely off. (Just on the laptop, external monitor works) I've tried restoring back to factory settings, recovery, and I'm not getting anywhere! I've even tried that black screen fix by Prevx. Oh and I also tried turning the laptop off, holding the power button, etc. It has windows 7. CQ61 I think is the model.
I have a Compaq Presario CQ61-420US Laptop, it will be a year old at the end of April 2011. It has Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS. Never had a problem with it till now. I am planning on doing a memory upgrade (currently has 3.0 GB DDR2 PC6400 in 2 slots (1gb + 2gb), ordered a 2.0 GB chip to bring it up to 4.0 GB total memory)Anyway I wanted to make sure I could do the swap myself so I unplugged the power cord, took out the battery, unscrewed the panel on the bottom of the laptop case, found the memory chips, took out both chips very carefully, undoing the tabs holding the chips in, took them out, inspected them, put them back in the way I took them out, making sure the tabs on the chips were lined up, maing sure the contacts were making contact. Put everything back together, ordered the new 2GB memory chip.
Today I went to power up the laptop, battery in and power cord plugged in and everything lit up like normal except the screen never came on, the power button stayed lit, the network status light stayed on, the power indicator was lit, two white lights were flashing at the same time every 5 seconds though, which is abnormal, one at the top right of the keyboard which I believe is the Num-lock light and one on the far left of the keyboard which I believe is the Caps-Lock light. And thats it, nothing ever happens it never turns on (blank screen) even after 20 min's. SO I held the power button down till it powered off. Unplugged the cord, took out the battery, held the power button down for 30 seconds, put the battery back in and tried powering up again, still the same thing.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T400 with Windows 7 32 bit. When I got home today and wanted to turn my laptop on, I couldn't get past the startup screen, displaying the thinkpad welcome message. I have tried pressing the ThinkVantage button, and all the f buttons, esc, delete, nothing works.I have also tried inserting my Windows disc into the disc drive but that does nothing either.
I recently got my first SSD after me original HD crashed and lost the windows files. So I decided to get windows 7 for it, I tried installing it from a USB and read the thread about it but with no luck. So I decided to go with my original windows xp cd and then upgrade to windows 7. I started up the comp and had it boot from cd, formatted the new SSD and installed the windows xp files. My comp then rebooted as normal for this and now it stays at the Asus motherboard screen for about 35-40 sec before going to a black screen with the blinking _ at top left and restarts just to do it all over again. I can hit Tab and if gives me the info, detects the Cd-rom, SSD and my usb keyboard. I have the option to hit alt+f2 to load the flash drive, but there is none saved in bios. I hit Del to run setup and everything is detected. WhenI fit f8 to try and boot from the SSD (to let windows continue to install) it goes to the black screen _ flashing or restarts immediately.
My granddaughter has a laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed. I went to turn it on after charging it and the Startup Repair window comes up. I can't get any System Repair options except for Startup Repair which can not repair the computer automatically. This is the problem details listed:
I don't have much information on this laptop since we are on vacation. The only thing my daughter told me was that Windows was preinstalled. The laptop is ASUS.
Recently my desktop has started having issues. I purchased it new in january and within this last month when I start it, it gets stuck in the startup screen. When I try to do startup repair it always is unsuccessful. When I view the details it lists this "problem signature 07: Bad patch" I have tried doing a system restore to every point it lists and it says "the instruction at 0xfba8ca53 referenced memory at 0x06e2f90f. The memory could not be read. Click ok to terminate". When I try to enter safe mode it doesn't work either.
i recently install new updates on my laptop , after downloading and installing and asking me to restart my computer ,i did choose to restart now . After booting up again it is now stuck on windows 7 logo screen on startup. I tried booting up on safe mode and last known good config. but it didn't work. Also tried to use windows installation disk but it doesn't work either it just keep loading on "setup is starting" also tried "repair my computer" option but it just show me just a plain black screen
i had a Toshiba satellite laptop l745d with a6 vision AMD graphic card,windows 7 ultimate x64 os , 4gb of ram quadcore
Before I start this happened after updating the motherboard BIOS from version 1.4 to 1.7, I went to 1.6 after just in case the latest BIOS had a bug
I've been stuck on the startup repair for almost 5 hours saying that it's repairing my hard drive or whatever (i forget exactly what it said), I first booted linux to check the SMART data on the HDD (i now know that I can do it with HBCD too) it came back all fine. I am now running Hirens Boot CD and DRevitalise to scan and repair bad sectors.
i have just bought compaq presario cq56-110sm,but it came along with SUSE Linux Enterprise. However,i am a music producer and because of my neeeds,i want to install windows 7. First,i have disconected the hdd from my laptop and hooked it up to my pc and formated it completely, hooked it back to the lap top,and tried to isntall windows, but then,it asked for hdd drivers and it acts like there is no hdd attached.
Do you have driver for HP Compaq Presario F762AU? I'm currently having crashing driver. I don't know which device that crash. After clean installation, my audio not detected. Internet can't be connected.
Hi. I just updraded from Windows XP to Window 7. Everyone thing works good except my sound. The sound icon in the lower right corned is xed out, and says that no audio ouput device is installed. When I click that to detect for problems it says:
I just upgraded my Compaq Presario SR1403wm from (Windows Xp Home edition) to (Windows 7 pro 32 bit). Everything went well except im now missing Network adapters/Ethernet and am unable to connect to the internet.
I have a cq56-219wm. The LED code leads me to believe that the cpu has died. However, I have already replaced it with a new one and still am getting the same code with no boot up. I have tried the power reset by holding the power button for one minute and still nothing. The fans are functional as well. My question is, what would the next step be for this laptop repair and will it be worth it on a 2 year old machine?
the graphics card (GeForce Go 6150) won't update drivers. For some reason, nVidia doesn't seem to support it?Second, it can't connect to the internet wirelessly. It detects the wireless router but can't join, despite the fact that the password is correct.
Compaq presario with Vista. Trying to do a clean install of windows 7 on comapq presario f500. Problem is the machine will only boot from hard drive. Cd drive works fine just can't boot from it. Windows 7 install disk won't boot. Windows xp install cd won't boot. In bios setup I've move the dvd/cdrom drive to top of boot list still no luck. So I got tricky booted from vista and starting windows 7 install cd from windows explorer. Install hung part way through and I had to turn off the computer. No I can't boot vista and have an incomplete install of windows 7 which won't boot. Not even safe mode. When you boot hit Esc the boot menus only shows notebook hard drive as an option. I've also tried unpluging the battery to clear out.
