I have a Asus N53S laptop runnin windows 7 32 bit and I am having some trouble with it. This will probably be a large post so bear with me, the first problem I started having was blue screens on startup. I was able to fix the computer by running Startup repair a few times (tool about 3-4 hours) after that it worked for a day but the next day when I turned on the computer it froze and the music that was playing turned into a loud droning noise. After that I ran the startup repair again it did not work so I did a system restore, it seemed to fix the problem but sadly on startup I started getting blue screens again and this time neither startup repair nor system restore would work (I get a message saying there was a unexpected error: the system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002) please close system restore and try again) I re open system restore 5 times and I get the same message.I restart my computer , spam f8 and choose the use last known good configuration. After I restore everything to factory settings and finish installing my steam games and other files I Ty restarting the computer to see if it fixed the problem. It seemed to have worked however that night there was a particularly large windows update (90 or so a one time) I clicked shutdown and let it finish the updates while I went to sleep. The next morning I wake up and turn on the computer it finishes syncing the updates then stays at the starting windows screen ( the logo would not show up just those words and a black screen. After it sat like that for 10 minutes or so I hold the power button and try again ,this time it did the same thing but only for a few seconds and it ran startup repair itself , startup repair could not fix the problem.

After booting up again it is now stuck on windows 7 logo screen on startup. I tried booting up on safe mode and last known good config. but it didn't work. Also tried to use windows installation disk but it doesn't work either it just keep loading on "setup is starting" also tried "repair my computer" option but it just show me just a plain black screen

I recently built a new setup using two 350GB Western Digital SATA hard drives. They are raided and until today I've had no trouble with the computer at all. When turning my computer on it loads to the Windows logo (the pulsing coloured "squares" ) and after 10 seconds or so it reboots. When booting up it detects my raided drive however when I insert the Windows 7 cd to enter the repair menu it doesn't see the drive. What I mean is on the screen where you choose the OS to repair, it does not appear. It DOES appear, however, after inserting a USB device with my raid drivers on it and then locating them first. The trouble is, the first time I did this it detected my 700GB raid drive (or approx 630GB space). The second time, however, it only detected my old 200GB drive which I store music on. After switching to different SATA ports as suggested by another post I found on the net, I then encountered a 0xc000000F error which reads "0xc0000000f. Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible". I tried doing a MBR repair but I don't think it worked.

Recently, abut 4-5 times a week, my computer will hang at the Windws 7 logo screen. the part where the logo glows but it stops there. I tried the startup repair after I forceshut the computer, but no results.
I tried sfc / scannow but there's nothing wrong. I read that doing chkdsk on a SSD has no effect right ?
Basically the issue is that my computer won't boot. I have had it for just over a year and have never had any issues with it. It's protected and isn't used for anything dodgy, my brother uses it for SWTOR and I use it mostly for uni work and a bit of gaming here and there. Anyway out of nowhere it failed to start. Its done this once before and last time I just told it start Windows normally and everything was fine. This time not so much.
It loads up Startup Repair even if I select start Windows normally as it fails to do so and restarts itself automatically. I left it to detect errors but when I checked it a few hours later it still said searching so I cancelled and left it. I tried again yesterday and have left it on for approximately 25 hours to no avail, it still says searching! I have a lot of stuff I haven't backed up so I want to save it. Also note that there are no pieces of hardware plugged into the machine at all, only the mouse, keyboard and monitor.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to flash drive on another computer it worked fine, but on my desktop it will not..If i turn my dektop on without the flash drive it comes up and says Reboot and Select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.If i insert the flash drive it freezes..If i start the computer with the flash drive in, it wont even get to the screen it freezes at the screen that tells me to press f12 for this, esc for that etc etc.This person has the same problem..And I cant boot from my origonal Hard drive because I believe its gone bad, If i start it with that hard drive it says Reboot and select proper boot device, its like it doesnt even recognize it, which im guessing means its gone bad.. But it wont freeze with that hard drive, but I also cant do anything

The computer sounds like its loading at that point, but nothing ever comes up. I can get into ubuntu. This happened after updating my graphics card nvidia. I have dual monitors. Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium, HP Pavilion p6107c Desktop.

Unfortunately, this was planned for after the holidays, and as I was unprepared for this crash, it could take me longer to figure out what I need to transfer to a new install then it would to fix the current one.

The current problem:
System passes POST, bootloader, "Windows is Starting" animation. USB devices initialize, and the mouse pointer appears. The screen remains black (no background, login dialog, accessibility/power buttons, etc.) indefinitely. The mouse still moves and NumLock can be toggled, so the system has not halted - it just doesn't get any further than that. After 15 minutes power-saving kicks in and the display goes to sleep - Moving the mouse or pressing a key turns it back on again as though everything is normal, but it's still stuck at the black screen.Events leading up to this:I have been using a PCIe JMicron-based SATA card with a broken eSATA port, and I recently got an ASM1061-based SATA 6Gbps card to replace it. This new card is PCIe 2.0 and my motherboard only has two 2.0 slots - the x16 and x8 slots meant for video - so I was testing what difference it made running my gfx card in x8 mode. I decided running it this way was OK, so I started tweaking the SATA card. I had seen reports that using the generic Microsoft driver with this chipset was hugely detrimental to write performance, so naturally I tried to install the newest ASM one. This didn't work, as Windows told me "this location does not contain information about your hardware". I resorted to using the driver's installer program, which ran perfectly - but Windows kept using its own driver anyway.
Finally, I decided to try the older version of the ASM driver. This installed properly and the device was no longer listed as a generic ATA controller. On a hunch, I tried updating the driver again (without rebooting) to the newest driver, and Windows accepted it with no complaint this time. However, my firewall (Outpost) asked me whether I wanted to allow direct disk access to an uncertified/??? driver. I affirmed this as it was intended. It's worth mentioning that Outpost was being a nuisance when I was testing PCIe slots, as it wiped its configuration file each time I moved my NIC. This meant it lost all the rules regarding which system components were allowed to do what, and had me confirm each one.
I then rebooted to MS-DOS on a USB stick to update the SATA card's firmware. I restarted into Windows several times without issue, but the SATA card didn't show during POST or in the Device Manager. Turns out the uploader mislabelled a BIOS OROM module as the add-on card's firmware. Back in DOS, I flashed the correct/original file, but the card still didn't seem to work (no BIOS info page, still absent in Windows) so I went back and flashed it a third time. After that theBIOS splash screen re-appeared and it seemed like everything would be fine.
However, upon booting into Windows, I was now getting a consistent BSOD: STOP 0x00000024 0x0000000000190494 (I only have the first two numbers, which I googled on my phone out of curiosity). I rebooted to safe mode and the same BSOD came up after CLASSPNP.SYS was listed. At this point I inserted my Windows DVD and ran the Startup Repair function, which took a while but completed successfully. I checked the log after it was done and the only reported issue was that the 100MB System Reserved partition was "corrupt". After restarting, the BSOD is gone but I now have this black screen/no login issue.
Things I have tried:
-Pretended the login screen was there (entered password and pressed Enter) in case it was a graphical glitch.
-System restore is disabled so I can't use that to revert whatever caused this.
-Tried booting in each of Windows' alternate modes (VGA, Safe, Safe w/LAN, Safe w/CMD, Last Known Good, etc.), problem persists.
-Unplugged secondary display in case it was drawing stuff on the wrong monitor.
-Shuffled the expansion cards back to where they were when the problem started, tried alternate locations, booted with all cards removed.
-Opened a command line window from the Windows 7 DVD and ran SFC and scandisk. SFC reported there were several errors that could not be repaired, however this was also the case several weeks ago when I used SFC to troubleshoot an application. I'm fairly certain this can be blamed on the RT7lite'd install source.
-Booted into an old install of Vista x64 Ultimate on another drive, and replaced all instances of the ASM drivers with the older version. No change. Went back into Vista and renamed the driver files - no change.
Brainstorming:
-Non-destructive "Upgrade" install over existing version Has to be done from within Windows 7. Tried initializing this from Vista, but it seems it can only be installed over the currently active partition (and can't be done anyway because Ultimate trumps Professional.)
-This xbootmgr tutorial helped me narrow the timing of the problem down, it seems to be happening in the SMSSInit phase of MainPathBoot... Knowing this hasn't really helped me so far and it appears xbootmgr has to be initialized from the OS being traced, so I'm not sure if I can even use this tool.
-The automatic Startup Repair script (on the installation disc) reports that the system booted successfully. Running SFC without the /offwindir and /offbootdir switches reports that a system repair is pending. The bootloader lists the OS as "Windows 7 (recovered)"
I was wondering if there is any way to change the windows 7 start up logo. Right now when I boot up windows 7 it shows the vista like start up. Is there any way to change it to the new windows 7 startup logo?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've had my computer for about 2 months now. Running windows 7 premium and recently when I boot up my computer, after it displays the bios menu, it skips the windows logo screen and goes straight to the welcome screen. I haven't noticed any issues other then this however I did notice strange noises when I booted up and first noticed the logo was missing. I've checked the menus and different options to turn off the logo but there all set to display it. I ran the system file checker and that came back clean as well.
Could it be a gpu issue or a motherboard issue? I did install skyrim recently and it reinstalled directx11 and made a new microsoft c++ file. I am thinking that could be it too. other then that im pretty much out of ideas. there was a few other programs I installed too. evga precision, fraps, nvidia system tools, nvidia system monitor. I restored my system to a point before installing these programs so it cant be those but it hought id add em to the list anyway just to be safe. I didn't however restore to before getting the new C++ file
I installed a new SSD disk the other day, enabled AHCI and changed boot order so that the SSD was first and then booted with my Windows 7 DVD where I deleted the previous Windows installation that was on my regular HDD so that it became an unformatted drive. Then I installed Windows onto the SSD.
Now, sometimes when I boot my computer it reboots on the Windows logo only to go to recommend Startup Repair, but it works when I choose to boot normally this second time. Don't tell me I have to reinstall Windows just because I didn't unplug my two other (unformatted) drives when installing on the SSD?
My desktop is freezing every time at the startup logo when switched on..it was working perfectly for the past one month.. when i restart the system it asks whether to start normally or start with the system repair.. but even after giving any of the above option the system still gets stuck..

I have Windows 7 home and have run into a bit of an issue. I have a program on my computer that runs through the internet. At my home, it connects fine and I am able to run it without any issues, but I go to school and connect to their WiFi and it stalls on the connecting prompt. Everything else I run and the internet works fine, I have re-installed the program and made sure it wasn't blocked from public access on firewall.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not exactly sure why, but for some reason windows 7 (ultimate) will automatically restart itself upon load up. The computer is about 8 or 9 months old, every part in it is that old except a much older 200 gig harddrive. ( Intel i7-930, Radeon 5770, 6 gigs Patriot DDR3 Ram, Sabertooth mobo ) So yeah, safe mode works just fine, no other f-8 option works however. And for some reason, all of my system restores have been deleted. So I have no previous system restore date to revert back too. Safe mode is the only mode I can get the computer to run on. I've tried the MSconfig route and turned off all my programs ( except those required by microsoft ) and managed a successfull boot that way, but then however my internet doesn't work, my sound, or even video. So I'm at a loss and not particularly sure what to do.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have an hp touchsmart tm2 tablet with an intel i3 processor. i started having problems after a windows update. at first it was freezing often, then once in a while it said it wasn't an authentic version of windows (but it is), then on random occasions it was telling me i had hard drive problems. Then it started freezing completely after 2 minutes of use, and now it won't even get passed the windows startup screen.Every time i start a scan of any sort it gives me the "scan failed" message, restarts and gets stuck again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running an Advent desktop PC and its stats are as follows; Intel Core i5-2310 CPU @ 2.90GHz 8GB RAM Win 7 64 bit.The problem I am having is when ever i boot up the computer it shows the Advent logo-screen where I can access the boot menu etc but then it goes to a black screen with a cursor/underscore flashing in the top left... This screen stays for quite a while and I am not sure if it stops because of a key I have pressed or just because it has run its course but after it disappears the computer goes back to the logo-screen for a moment and proceeds to boot up as normal except slightly slower than usual.It is a relatively new computer and it has no problems running at all once the boot up is complete it is fast and as friendly as ever.

Sometimes it manages to fully load up but then within 10 minutes it will suddenly restart.I can load safe mode with no issues and even after running it for a period of time it does not seem to shut down. I tried starting it up only the basic microsoft startup services but it still crashed.I've run chkdsk, startup repair and some hardware memory diagnostic thing and they all came back fine.Laptop has been in to get serviced and they told me they found nothing wrong with it and sent it back. I start it up and within 5 seconds of it trying to load windows it restarts. also, I've tried to reinstall windows but it freezes during installation.

When I do a "restart", on the computer screen I could see "log out", a few seconds later, "shutdown." At this point, the system stalls at "shutdown." I waiting for over 5 minutes, and it was still stalled at "shutdown." To continue working with my computer, at the ""Shut down stall", I remove the power cord from my computer. About a minute later, I reconnect my power cord and click the power button. After that there is no problem. Except when I do a "Restart."

But after log off I can see both of them.Normally its fine but if there is some updates, the computer will install the updates under black screen.

Anyway, last time I brought it in for repairs they checked the motherboard and RAM- it was all fine, and they replaced my hard drive.For the past month or so, my computer will freeze or hang while I'm in the middle of working on something. I'm a photographer and it usually happens when photoshop is left sitting open for a few minutes. Firefox will freeze and so will PS and Bridge.When it freezes, nothing works. Ctrl+alt+delete will work to open the task manager, but it won't actually end any tasks when I try. I am forced to hold the power button down to shut it off. About 3 days ago I got a message upon start up saying that I needed to check disk but immediately said that it couldn't check disk due to a corruption? Stating that a recently installed software was the problem and I needed to do a system restore. I tried to do a system restore to before I installed my machforms update and it wouldn't let me! Stated that the c drive is corrupt and I need to do a check disk. So it's sending me in a circle and I can't complete either. Today, when I booted I received a lovely grey screen. This happened about 7 times before it booted normally. I tried to boot in safe mode but it froze.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOkay, so I woke up my computer from sleep mode yesterday, and it worked perfectly fine for all of five minutes before everything except my cursor froze. I waited for it to unfreeze or give me a "not responding" message for about twenty minutes, but when it didn't, I manually shut it down by pressing the power button, since I couldn't get to the start menu. But when I turned it back on, an error message appeared. I don't remember exactly what it said, but it gave me the option to either: "Launch startup repair (reccomended)" or "Start Windows normally". So I chose to launch the startup repair since it said that it would fix anything that had caused my computer to stop working, but it's been "searching for problems" for about five hours now! The blue bar just keeps scrolling past, but other than that, nothing's happening. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or should I call someone to check it out? Will I lose my files? I tried to "Start Windows normally" as well, but nothing happened at all... Oh, and it's an Acer laptop with Windows 7 on it

When I try to do startup repair it always is unsuccessful. When I view the details it lists this "problem signature 07: Bad patch" I have tried doing a system restore to every point it lists and it says "the instruction at 0xfba8ca53 referenced memory at 0x06e2f90f. The memory could not be read. Click ok to terminate". When I try to enter safe mode it doesn't work either.
