I have Dell latitude e4200 and i want to remove company's logo which appears when i turn on the laptop. i am not talking about the windows logo.but this one comes before that at the very starting of the computer.

When I switch on the laptop, a logo of the institute from which the laptop's seller got the laptop (the engineering institute presents a laptop to every student), appears then booting process continues as it should.
I wish to remove this logo. Also, CD/DVD Drive isn't visible in Computer.
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit). It's an OEM version..
I bought this laptop from a guy who was a student, and got this laptop from the university he was studying at. When the laptop starts up, a large logo/picture of this university comes up and the boot options appear at the corner of the screen, i.e. F9- Boot Device Menu and F10-ROM Based Setup.
I wish to remove this logo permanently. Also, after getting rid of this, how can I make it show a picture of my own choice?

I was wondering if there is any way to change the windows 7 start up logo. Right now when I boot up windows 7 it shows the vista like start up. Is there any way to change it to the new windows 7 startup logo?

My Gigabyte startup logo is now taking over 20 sec to complete, where as when the pc was new it flashed so fast it was unreadable. Is this reason to be concerned? Is it wearing out...lol, or need flashing or ....?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've had my computer for about 2 months now. Running windows 7 premium and recently when I boot up my computer, after it displays the bios menu, it skips the windows logo screen and goes straight to the welcome screen. I haven't noticed any issues other then this however I did notice strange noises when I booted up and first noticed the logo was missing. I've checked the menus and different options to turn off the logo but there all set to display it. I ran the system file checker and that came back clean as well.
Could it be a gpu issue or a motherboard issue? I did install skyrim recently and it reinstalled directx11 and made a new microsoft c++ file. I am thinking that could be it too. other then that im pretty much out of ideas. there was a few other programs I installed too. evga precision, fraps, nvidia system tools, nvidia system monitor. I restored my system to a point before installing these programs so it cant be those but it hought id add em to the list anyway just to be safe. I didn't however restore to before getting the new C++ file
I installed a new SSD disk the other day, enabled AHCI and changed boot order so that the SSD was first and then booted with my Windows 7 DVD where I deleted the previous Windows installation that was on my regular HDD so that it became an unformatted drive. Then I installed Windows onto the SSD.
Now, sometimes when I boot my computer it reboots on the Windows logo only to go to recommend Startup Repair, but it works when I choose to boot normally this second time. Don't tell me I have to reinstall Windows just because I didn't unplug my two other (unformatted) drives when installing on the SSD?
My desktop is freezing every time at the startup logo when switched on..it was working perfectly for the past one month.. when i restart the system it asks whether to start normally or start with the system repair.. but even after giving any of the above option the system still gets stuck..

i recently install new updates on my laptop , after downloading and installing and asking me to restart my computer ,i did choose to restart now . After booting up again it is now stuck on windows 7 logo screen on startup. I tried booting up on safe mode and last known good config. but it didn't work. Also tried to use windows installation disk but it doesn't work either it just keep loading on "setup is starting" also tried "repair my computer" option but it just show me just a plain black screen

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a client (company) who I've built and connected multiple computers for--all with the same hardware. All but one out of 8 have been great. This last one is causing me hell. I've analyzed the dumps (but I'm a rookie to crash dump examinations), and I originally thought it was a graphics driver issue. I removed the card from device manager, driver swept the drivers, and installed the newest drivers after the re-install of the card. Still two more BSODs (see the last two dumps for that).

I get a BlueScreen every time I connect my computer (Dell M6300, Windows 7 Ultimate x64) to the company network at work. This happens with the network connection being wireless or wired! Also it doesn't happen immediately but takes from a few seconds up to several minutes until the blue screen comes. If I don't connect to the company network the system runs without any problems. This issue is perfectly reproducible. And until the system crashes the network connection is working. It also doesn't matter if there is activity on the connection or if it is idle. At home I can connect to my home network (wired and wireless) without any problems or crashes.

I'm a desktop analyst and I need access to a remote PC on our network. The user has disabled remote access to his PC.I need to see files on that PC and I planned on using \domaincomputername c$ but it says "could not connect". That command works on other PC's here, but not the one in question.What can I do to enable access so that command works?There is staffing changes being made and I need to do this without the end user knowing.

Since that time I have discovered Oracle VirtualBox and much prefer this route to look at and experiment with linux. However I have a legacy of my untutored fiddling in the form of a splash screen at power up [straight after POST] of a dual boot option - Windows 7 or ubuntu p which I dont want. Its an annoyance rather than a catastrophy but I am at a loss as what/how to 'edit' this startup file to remove the dual bootup option. I have tried FIXMBR from the repair option but the dual selection option remains.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi used to get the BSOD very often so i decided to recover the system to the initial state . i did that and everything was fine , then i updated the windows 7 service pack 1 and finished the installation and rebooted my computer , the start-up at least took half an hour at that time and the service pack 1 installation showed "not successful " i tried to again to update the service pack1 which showed 73.6mb - 892.6mb so i updated it again and again the same thing happened.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron and a while ago I shut down my PC and the next morning I was faced with options to repair my computer. It hung on the screen for ages before it actually came up with startup repair and supposedly fixed the problem. A few days later, everything got very slow and started to freeze a lot and before long, booting the computer got very slow as well as it hung for about ten minutes on a black screen after the 'welcome' screen before finally starting up. I decided to reinstall the operating system (I did NOT reformat the C drive), so I borrowed my Grandma's external hard drive and copied my files. After reinstalling using a Dell Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Re-Installation DVD, I copied and deleted the files off the external hard drive onto my PC (I didn't know it would create a Windows.old folder) and started installing programs. Then I left it overnight to install quite a big program. This morning, somehow it had turned off. I turned it on and it gave me the safe mode options and a 'start windows normally' option. I chose the latter and after typing my password it hung on the welcome screen again. I left it for ages and it just went back to the user login screen again. I pressed the red button in the corner to shut it down but it just hung once again on an empty screen so I did a hard shutdown (held down the power button). I turned it on again...startup repair. It gave me the option for system restore, which I did (then realising when it finished that I hadn't made a backup). I booted it, and again it wouldn't start properly. At this time, safe mode booted fine. After trying various things (even using a compressed air can to get rid of dust) and a few hard shutdowns, suddenly every option from the advanced boot menu took me to startup repair except 'Repair your Computer' which gave the normal options for repair (although now it only gives me 2, Startup Repair and DataSafe Restore and Emergency Backup. Now when I do startup repair, some times it says it has fixed the problem, and sometimes it says it cannot be fixed automatically and gives me information on the problem (a few things it said were: 'StartupRepairOffline', 'AutoFailover' and 'CorruptRegistry').
I can't reinstall my computer because then I would lose my precious files.
Is there some way I can save my files and reinstall or even just save my files somehow or am I screwed?
I have spent the last few days working on my friends Sony Vaio PCG-7184L(which by the way is not listed anywhere on sony's website). It runs windows 7 64bit and it freezes immediately after the Windows logo starts it's animation and there's about an inch of the top of the screen that is filled with weird colored lines. So I told him sure, I'll fix it, it's probably just a virus and should be fairly simple. I will list in sequence what I have done so far to diagnose/fix the issue. One more thing, it started doing this freeze up thing the same day he got it back from the Geek Squad at Best Buy, who were doing a simple update and cleaning from what my friend told me. Tried booting into safemode, froze, on hal.dll, with same colored lines at top of screen, Tried booting into ERD Commander 2k8 and froze at the same spot. Booted into Linux live CD and scanned for viruses with avast, there were none.
