May 31, 2012I have an Acer Aspire 5536 laptop and when I startup the Acer Profile login dialogue box is displayed. How can I disable it, it is driving me crazy.

Really Slow Startup And Forced Temporary Profile?
Jun 20, 2011I have a Windows 7 laptop bought less than a year ago which is experiencing some weird symptoms. On startup, the login screen comes up rather quickly, but takes about 10-15mins to load Windows, eventually landing me in a temporary profile.The computer seems to freeze when using video after ~15 minutes of viewing also. The stress has lead to at least one BSOD, which I couldn't obtain fast enough. Every attempt to go into the event viewer freezes the computer if let run enough, with loading bars realted to "snap-in" not functioning correctly. The same occurs in safe mode, with windows taking even longer to run and flat out freezing the computer upon trying to open the event viewer.Occasionally, and in the same event of the BSOD, I can hear a clicking inside the machine, which I believe but cannot be sure is the hard-drive. I want to check this on the event viewer but cannot open it.I want to attempt to re-install windows but have lost the disc. I know of other ways to get around this but want to try all available options before doing this. This issue very much sounds to be hardware related anyway, but being unable to view the event viewer I cannot pin down this error. I have MSE on the computer with scans being done in safe and normal modes which nothing found.

Oct 28, 2012I have Win 7 64bit Ultimate.At every startup I get the following errors in that sequence:[CODE]The only symptom is at restart, when the welcome screen disappears for a split second, then comes back (probably at the time when dwm exits and restarts?). Then I have a black screen with the mouse for 2-3 or 3-4 secs (as if the pc struggles to log on to the account) and then normally to desktop. That of course delays the startup but from then on all is normal.
From googling around I interpret those errors something like AERO exits at the beginning but comes back, then problems with logging into the user account but finally logging in is normal. I only have one administrative account and nothing else.I suspect some kind of user profile corruption but cannot pinpoint it, since I get no errors apart from the log.I have only managed to reproduce the following: I get into safe mode and aero is (normally) auto-disabled. When I restart in normal mode, aero is not activated automatically but the computer starts in basic display mode and I activate aero manually.

Jul 9, 2012Originally I had all my data files in drive D and only programs in drive C. Somehow my old user profile got corrupted and the Backgound wall paper is not working properly. So I created a new admin profile to fix it but now I have a mess.After I created a new admin profile and moved the old users folder/files to the new user , I decided to delete the old profile after everything seems to be working properly . When deleting the old profile I elected to save old user files to my desktop ( fortunately) . I now have a very fragmented system . Some of the folder/files are still under my old username in D drive, nothing in my new user name in D drive plus almost all of the folder/files from the old user ( in drive D) are now in a folder on the desktop where windows elected to place them when I elected to save the folders/files. I really need all the old user folders.I would like to have the Data in either under my old or new username in Drive D instead of fragmented all over the place. I realize I ended up in this situation because I didnt understand fully what windows will do when creating and deleting user profiles.

My laptop began to shut off randomly and without warning. This happens if I am on battery or plugged in. Jul 20, 2010I have recently "tried" a Linux .ISO CD and took the wrong option and partially installed ubuntu as a dual boot option. Since that time I have discovered Oracle VirtualBox and much prefer this route to look at and experiment with linux. However I have a legacy of my untutored fiddling in the form of a splash screen at power up [straight after POST] of a dual boot option - Windows 7 or ubuntu p which I dont want. Its an annoyance rather than a catastrophy but I am at a loss as what/how to 'edit' this startup file to remove the dual bootup option. I have tried FIXMBR from the repair option but the dual selection option remains.

I am frequently running multiple tasks at once, and having a dialogue box pop up and move the focus of my cursor while typing a sql script or email is extremely aggravating. I've accidentally typed passwords into dialogue boxes numerous times, if one pops up while I'm trying to remote onto another machine.
