I am attempting to uninstall (and then reinstall) Office 2010 Prof Plus. I am not able to remove it from Add/Remove programs, have read through some help info and attempted to use the Windows Fixit, Revo & Ripoutoffice2007, none of which have removed it (Revo didn't take it out and then pulled up a million 'left over' files, none of which I deleted).

Unless the KB940289 is uninstalled it won't let me install Windows office 2010.I don't want to format my computer just for removing KB940289. Do you guys have any idea how to remove it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got a laptop with a Starter version of Microsoft Office 2010 installed on it. As this Starter version does not give full use of the features within Excel, I wanted to install my Home and Student Office 2007. I installed Office 2007 alongside the Starter 2010, however this caused quite a few problems with File associations so I decided to uninstall Office 2010, unfortunately this meant that Office 2007 also did not work as I believe I hadn't installed and uninstalled things in the right order. I therefore did a system restore to when Office Starter 2010 was on the laptop without 2007. I uninstalled both the Office Starter 2010 file and the Office 2010 file from the Program files. I tried to also uninstall the Office 2010 Click to Run file, however this would not uninstall. It just comes up with an error message "this action cannot be completed. try action again. if problem continues, contact microsoft product support". I have now installed Home and Student Office 2007 and it seems to be working, despite the Office 2010 Click to Run file still being on the computer. Is it okay to leave the Click to Run file and the associated Q drive there and be running Office 2007? Or do I need to make sure I eradicate the Click to Run altogether?

The most annoying feature of Word 2010 is the so-called "Ribbon". It shows every font installed in Word and we don't want to see any of them (my blind colleague cannot see them anyway) - what is more, it takes up a lot of space. Is there a way of removing all those fonts from the Ribbon?
I am trying to perform a clean installation of Windows 7 HP 32bit on my desktop PC.
Motherboard: MSI K9AGM2
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core
There is a perfectly good 75GB SATA hard disk installed, but when I get to the point in the installation where it asks where I want to install windows I get 'no drives were found'. I have checked in the BIOS so see if it's recognised there, which it isn't. I also tried an XP Home installation just to see what happened and that didn't recognise the hard drive either.I have just formatted this hard drive using DBan and it does work in my other PC. I have also fitted a hard drive from another PC into this computer and that one isn't seen either. I have tried different data cables and different SATA slots on the motherboard and that didn't work.
From my reading on google it seems that this might be a SATA driver issue. Where I have to get drivers from the motherboard's website and then install at the screen where it doesn't see the hard drive and gives the 'load driver' option. I have downloaded different drivers from the MSI website for my motherboard. Some of them have been found, but none have worked in finding my hard drive.
How can I remove the search pane in Outlook 2010 on top of the message pane ?

This may be a result of a hang in Easy Transfer. Easy Transfer was sitting for hours saying "1 minute" remaining. I terminated the program. The hang was in the administration section.

I have tried to restore to an earlier time(which just compounded the problem). It used to give me the option of removing programs with a message like "error occured during uninstall would you like to remove program anyway?" but now I just get install.log not found over and over again. My program list is super huge and 80%(approx) is not even there. It is driving me insane.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got 2 partitions, C drive being for the OS and D drive having my programs installed. I reinstalled Windows over the top the C drive with the impression that everything on my C drive would be wiped and replaced with the new system, and all the stuff on the D drive would be untouched (i.e. music, documents and program install files). The other day I upgraded from 32 bit to 64 bit Windows 7 however now on the Add/Remove programs list no programs appear, yet I can still use some of them. For example I can use Steam by running the .exe in the install folder but doesn't appear on Add/Remove, and for example Itunes doesn't work at all using the same idea. Basically, have I screwed up my PC and the partitions from upgrading, a bad install or should I just reinstall all the programs from scratch?

I'm having a little problem with safely removing any of my external hard drives that I connect. The USB icon will show in the taskbar and when I place my mouse over it, it says Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media. But when I click it, it won't show the external drives to eject. I have even tried to the eject option by right clicking my external drive in my computer. But the eject option is not there anymore. Can anyone help me with this
View 9 Replies View RelatedCloned the 2 hdds to the single using Norton Ghost. It works fine and the PC boots no problem - but only if the bios (Asus) is set to 'configure sata as RAID'. If I change to 'configure sata as IDE' it won't boot (bsod during windows loading screen).
The PC clearly thinks the new, single hdd is still a raid system - which presumably could cause problems when I upgrade the mobo. I have tried Windows 7 repair, fixmbr, fixboot, rebuild bcd... none of it makes any difference!
For quite some time I have been unable to to eject any USB/external hard drive devices that I have plugged into my computer. Using Process Explorer I've looked at the processes that are interfering with being to be able to eject devices.
Even if I do not have any files or programs open from that device, each one will have two explorer.exe processes running. However when I use find handle with Process Explorer on my main external hard drive there are these several processes running.

I am able to Close Handle on the explorer and svchost processes, but when I try on the system ones I get an error message reading, "Error opening process: the handle is invalid".

Therefore, as the reader suggested, to then, after turning the feature off and"add links to the programs you do want there manually" doesn't do it since I may not want them there 'next week' nor do I like the idea of me having to manually add them and manually remove them all the time. In Windows XP there used to be a little Microsoft program called TweakUI (Power Toys) that would do exactly that--controlled which programs could go there and which could not. Considering that TweakUi was originally made for the 1st or 2nd Windows version (before Windows 95) I hesitate to use it again for Windows 7.

Basically, when I went to the start Menu to work it, it didn't open up until I made a shortcut for the Desktop. And then it gave me the message that in all programs, to be blunt it couldn't find it- while I can't access it now, it said it couldn't find the program and asked me if I wanted to Admin Remove it from the list- this did nothing.
