So, I wanted to free up some space on my hard drive, and I found this. The funny thing is, I don't even have 2.95 TB on my hard drive. Its a 640 GB. Anyway, I was wondering if any on here could tell me a way to fix this problem, and to get the "Uninstall or change a program" feature to stop lying to me.

I am not able to remove it from Add/Remove programs, have read through some help info and attempted to use the Windows Fixit, Revo & Ripoutoffice2007, none of which have removed it (Revo didn't take it out and then pulled up a million 'left over' files, none of which I deleted).

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to remove programs that have already been uninstalled from my add/remove programs list. I have tried uninstalling them in safe mode. I have tried to restore to an earlier time(which just compounded the problem). It used to give me the option of removing programs with a message like "error occured during uninstall would you like to remove program anyway?" but now I just get install.log not found over and over again. My program list is super huge and 80%(approx) is not even there. It is driving me insane.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got 2 partitions, C drive being for the OS and D drive having my programs installed. I reinstalled Windows over the top the C drive with the impression that everything on my C drive would be wiped and replaced with the new system, and all the stuff on the D drive would be untouched (i.e. music, documents and program install files). The other day I upgraded from 32 bit to 64 bit Windows 7 however now on the Add/Remove programs list no programs appear, yet I can still use some of them. For example I can use Steam by running the .exe in the install folder but doesn't appear on Add/Remove, and for example Itunes doesn't work at all using the same idea. Basically, have I screwed up my PC and the partitions from upgrading, a bad install or should I just reinstall all the programs from scratch?

How to permanently remove/ban programs from the Start Menu Recent List? (Since manually deleting them will only get them back on once the program is started again.) The sole answer gave a suggestion to "switch the feature off". This answer though useful to some is not to me. Those programs which are indeed often used are on the desktop via a shortcut. Those on the start menu, are programs not often used or perhaps only used this week, then not used for 2 months, then used again later once. Therefore, as the reader suggested, to then, after turning the feature off and"add links to the programs you do want there manually" doesn't do it since I may not want them there 'next week' nor do I like the idea of me having to manually add them and manually remove them all the time. In Windows XP there used to be a little Microsoft program called TweakUI (Power Toys) that would do exactly that--controlled which programs could go there and which could not. Considering that TweakUi was originally made for the 1st or 2nd Windows version (before Windows 95) I hesitate to use it again for Windows 7.

Basically, when I went to the start Menu to work it, it didn't open up until I made a shortcut for the Desktop. And then it gave me the message that in all programs, to be blunt it couldn't find it- while I can't access it now, it said it couldn't find the program and asked me if I wanted to Admin Remove it from the list- this did nothing. And now, again, it doesn't work period. I've tried a system restore, but going back the farthest I can, it still doesn't work. Everytime I create a standard user account all programs that are installed on my administrator account transfers to my 2 standard user accounts and the guest account also. The USB icon will show in the taskbar and when I place my mouse over it, it says Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media. But when I click it, it won't show the external drives to eject. View 9 Replies View RelatedCloned the 2 hdds to the single using Norton Ghost. It works fine and the PC boots no problem - but only if the bios (Asus) is set to 'configure sata as RAID'. If I change to 'configure sata as IDE' it won't boot (bsod during windows loading screen).
The PC clearly thinks the new, single hdd is still a raid system - which presumably could cause problems when I upgrade the mobo. I have tried Windows 7 repair, fixmbr, fixboot, rebuild bcd... none of it makes any difference!
For quite some time I have been unable to to eject any USB/external hard drive devices that I have plugged into my computer. Using Process Explorer I've looked at the processes that are interfering with being to be able to eject devices.
Even if I do not have any files or programs open from that device, each one will have two explorer.exe processes running. However when I use find handle with Process Explorer on my main external hard drive there are these several processes running.

I am able to Close Handle on the explorer and svchost processes, but when I try on the system ones I get an error message reading, "Error opening process: the handle is invalid".
