Recently Installed Programs Not Showing Up In Add/remove Programs?
Sep 8, 2011
Today I decided to install some stuff on my computer as it was out of date..I installed Java, Flash player and adobe reader X but when I go to add/remove they are not showing up in that section?
een running Windows since 3.0, and am fairly comfortable poking around with anything under the hood. I've just bought my first Windows 7 computer, and it has me scratching my head on a few issues. I've done a search of the forums, but had no luck with one specific issue.I'm running Home Premium, and I have My Admin account and 2 separate user accounts. I install all programs using the Admin account. Some programs, such as Office 2010 and Adobe Reader, installed easily with the programs listed under each user's "All Programs" area on the start menu. Other programs installed and showed up under Admin's "All Programs", but will not show up in the other users' "All Programs". None of these programs asked if I wanted to install for just the active user account or for all accounts, they just installed.
I can still run these programs by doing a search and executing, so I have access to them. I know I can create shortcuts or pin them to the taskbar, but I really don't like the clutter. How can get these programs to show up under "All Programs" for all users?
I uninstalled one program and then when I went back to add/remove programs in control panel most of my programs are not showing up.I take it, it's some sort of registry issue or something (I'm pretty computer ignorant), but how do I fix it?
I have just installed a new ssd into my pc and cloned the drive and everything has been up and running fine for a few days with no problems. But now all of a sudden when I go into add/remove programmes there are no programmes listed! yesterday they were all there...
In the start menu the games I play don't go higher up the list, in fact they keep getting pushed down until they aren't even in the menu at all by programs that I run once in a blue moon.
Games should be ordered by how frequently they are used, the same way that all other programs are, despite the fact that there is a games folder.
...and yes, I'm aware that games can be pinned to the start menu.
A while back I used a few different programs to tweak Windows 7. One of the programs I used caused the recently used programs to stop showing up in the star menu. Under properties now I can't even set the number of programs to show because it is grayed out and unselectable. Any body know how to get this function back? I have ran SFC to see if there was something corrupt in Windows 7 with no errors returned. I think there is something turned off in the registry but have no idea where to look.
Recently opened programs does not appear in the start menu.Windows help shows Click to open Taskbar and Start Menu Properties. Click the Start Menu tab, and then click Customize. In the Customize Start Menu dialog box, in the Number of recent programs to display box, enter the number of programs you want to display on the Start menu, click OK, and then click OK again. Both the check boxes are disabled so I cannot make any changes.
I have a really weird problem here. Pinning certain apps to the superbar causes them to stop appearing in the 'frequently used programs' list - but only for certain programs; currently I've noticed it with DestroyTwitter (an Adobe Air app) but more puzzlingly, with Winamp and VLC media player.
DestroyTwitter is set to minimize/close to systray and Winamp is docked but not set to appear in the superbar at all - so its icon is always in the systray even while it's technically not 'minimized' but hidden at the top of my screen.
On the other hand, VLC doesn't have any special tray settings. Also, Digsby works fine pinned and in the recent menu, and it's set to close to systray (though it minimizes to taskbar).
I know opening an app from the pinned apps doesn't 'count' towards the use count that the frequently used programs list is based on - but even opening them from their start menu entries doesn't make any difference until I manually unpin the app. The rest of the frequently used programs list works fine.
I can't figure this out. Anyone have any thoughts? (I've tried changing the minimize-to-tray settings, with no difference).
I recently had to wipe out my hard drive and re instal. Ever since I cannot hear with my head phones plugged in. the sound on the lap top has also reduced considerably.
I'd like to make my Start Menu bigger (increase its height, to be specific). I've seen someone post a screenshot here: http://news.softpedia.com/images/news2/Build-a-Monster-Windows-7-Start-M... Unfortunately, he didn't talk about how to achieve this.
I know that I can go into the Start Menu and Taskbar Properties menu > Customize > Start menu size and then and increase the number of recent programs to display, however, I really do not like to display recently opened programs (sorry to seem difficult). Is there any way to make the start menu size bigger without displaying recently opened programs?
This fault is occur a after using Iobit Uninstaller. I closed this program before uninstrallation process of selected programs completed. After this only 5 programs are showing. I restore syatem by Iobit Uninstaller. but no any change.I checked registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall). There is only 5 keys. How do I recover these registry keys.
I am attempting to uninstall (and then reinstall) Office 2010 Prof Plus. I am not able to remove it from Add/Remove programs, have read through some help info and attempted to use the Windows Fixit, Revo & Ripoutoffice2007, none of which have removed it (Revo didn't take it out and then pulled up a million 'left over' files, none of which I deleted).
Ok so I have been having issues with my icons for programs in my documents and on desktop resetting back to that little white piece of paper with boxes on it. Im on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Just wanted to know if there was a fix. (mostly happening with .exe/shortcuts)
I am running windows 7 (64bit) IE 8. Now for some unknown reason to me when I click on my favorites tab it's showing programs instead of my favorites. All my bookmarks are still in my fav folder but I don't understand how this has happened.
recently any programs I minimize won't show up on the taskbar, but if I alt-tab it'll show back up. I tried google for answers but I could not find anything.
I recently did a new custom build and am having some problems with programs not showing up. I am used to Windows 7 Ultimate but for my new computer I selected Windows 7 Professional (little bit cheaper but I am seeing why). I have installed a couple of programs that do not show up in my start menu. Most notably Windows Live Essentials 2011. Windows live mesh shows up but not windows live mail or Windows live messenger. I have been able to go into the folder and create a shortcut to my desktop and add that to my start menu but I am finding that the more that I install the more that just seem to vanish. I have installed Logitech webcam software and it again is no where to be found besides the installation/program folder the only one showing up in the start menu or desktop is the Logitech vid program. Reason for my question: Is there a way to change the settings on Professional to match the out of the box settings on Ultimate? Basically when I install a program I would like to have it show up as an item in my start menu and not have to be found somewhere in my Programs files.
Also, when I redirect my libraries to my storage drive they like to appear as hidden folders. I then have to go into my folder options and set the option to always view hidden folders. I would prefer this not to be the case.
Ok this is a question I get when working on computers and the only recourse is an Operating System reinstall or in the case where I am advising someone on a heavy upgrade/new purchase. Me personally I don't really care why, I just need something simple to tell people when they ask me besides saying "Well you can't!"Why is it that when you reinstall Windows 7 or move from Windows XP (98,95 etc.) to Windows 7 (Vista, ya lets not go there) there is no way to keep your programs installed?
I'm having a bit of an odd problem with the "Recent Items" menu on the start menu. I have found many google searches on this topic but none that answer my particular question. the question I have is simple can I set it up so that the recent items menu only shows recently opened documents and pics and NOT recently used programs? Recently used programs just clutter up the list and feat the purpose of it being there at all as I have quick launch icons for the programs I use frequently. I'd like the recent Items list to function the way the recent documents list did in vista, as this is ALOT more useful and it only included recent documents and pcitures, not programs. The idea is that I have a short cut to documents I am using frequently without having to go the long route of locating them on my computer to opent them.
i am trying to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. After the compatibility checkup is complete I see a message saying that Kaspersky Anti Virus is either preventing or will damage the installation during upgrade and it will not let me continue until I have "uninstalled it from my system".
However I've never even heard of the program until today and there's no trace of it on my system.
I am wanting to remove programs that have already been uninstalled from my add/remove programs list. I have tried uninstalling them in safe mode. I have tried to restore to an earlier time(which just compounded the problem). It used to give me the option of removing programs with a message like "error occured during uninstall would you like to remove program anyway?" but now I just get install.log not found over and over again. My program list is super huge and 80%(approx) is not even there. It is driving me insane.
I am setting up a new laptop, Lenovo G570, and am having a rough time figuring out how this system works. I downloaded and installed the Open Office Suite and after it completed installation, I can't find the program on my computer. It didn't create an icon and I don't see it listed anywhere, either from checking for programs from the START BUTTON > All Programs or even from the list in the install/uninstall. I don't know if it matters, but I did not accept any of the accompanying other free programs
I'm looking to upgrade three computers running a Windows 7 beta build (two on 7077, one on 7068) to the new RC build. I've heard that it's best to do a clean install rather than an upgrade. I've also seen Microsoft describe ways to backup and restore files and settings when performing a clean install.
The biggest hassle for me lies in having to re-install all of the programs on the three computers. So is there any backup solution that would allow me to automatically restore/reinstall my programs after performing a clean install of Windows? Or can this just not be done with a clean install?
I open a program and it opens on the monitor. I think restore the size, rather than having in maximum size.
The program disappears, but is still in the task bar. I click on the program icon in the task bar to make it appear in the monitor, but the program shows to open on a non-existent monitor on the left of my monitor.
I have checked Display adapters in Device Manager and they are working ok. I have checked Control PanelDisplayChange Display Settings and all looks ok.
Everything has worked find until recently. No real changes, however I suspect Microsoft Windows 7 is doing some dirty tricks after I have made multiple complaints about their poor customer support on the phones.
So, I wanted to free up some space on my hard drive, and I found this. The funny thing is, I don't even have 2.95 TB on my hard drive. Its a 640 GB. Anyway, I was wondering if any on here could tell me a way to fix this problem, and to get the "Uninstall or change a program" feature to stop lying to me.

my startup time has been longer of late, sometimes much longer. i log in and wait at the welcome screen. i checked performance information> advanced tools and saw this. [code] the last one is a duplicate and i may need that one, but the other two entries are old and not needed.
W7 Home premium. To clean up my desktop, I would like to transfer some seldom used programs to an SD card or a USB flashdrive. When using XP I would simply go to search, get all the files and move them. How can I do this on my W7 computer.
