View 9 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to remove programs that have already been uninstalled from my add/remove programs list. I have tried uninstalling them in safe mode. I have tried to restore to an earlier time(which just compounded the problem). It used to give me the option of removing programs with a message like "error occured during uninstall would you like to remove program anyway?" but now I just get install.log not found over and over again. My program list is super huge and 80%(approx) is not even there. It is driving me insane.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got 2 partitions, C drive being for the OS and D drive having my programs installed. I reinstalled Windows over the top the C drive with the impression that everything on my C drive would be wiped and replaced with the new system, and all the stuff on the D drive would be untouched (i.e. music, documents and program install files). The other day I upgraded from 32 bit to 64 bit Windows 7 however now on the Add/Remove programs list no programs appear, yet I can still use some of them. For example I can use Steam by running the .exe in the install folder but doesn't appear on Add/Remove, and for example Itunes doesn't work at all using the same idea. Basically, have I screwed up my PC and the partitions from upgrading, a bad install or should I just reinstall all the programs from scratch?

The sole answer gave a suggestion to "switch the feature off". This answer though useful to some is not to me. Those programs which are indeed often used are on the desktop via a shortcut. Those on the start menu, are programs not often used or perhaps only used this week, then not used for 2 months, then used again later once. Therefore, as the reader suggested, to then, after turning the feature off and"add links to the programs you do want there manually" doesn't do it since I may not want them there 'next week' nor do I like the idea of me having to manually add them and manually remove them all the time. In Windows XP there used to be a little Microsoft program called TweakUI (Power Toys) that would do exactly that--controlled which programs could go there and which could not. Considering that TweakUi was originally made for the 1st or 2nd Windows version (before Windows 95) I hesitate to use it again for Windows 7.

Basically, when I went to the start Menu to work it, it didn't open up until I made a shortcut for the Desktop. And then it gave me the message that in all programs, to be blunt it couldn't find it- while I can't access it now, it said it couldn't find the program and asked me if I wanted to Admin Remove it from the list- this did nothing. And now, again, it doesn't work period. I've tried a system restore, but going back the farthest I can, it still doesn't work. Everytime I create a standard user account all programs that are installed on my administrator account transfers to my 2 standard user accounts and the guest account also. ATI Radeon HD 4200 256MB integrated graphics.Well, as you can tell by the crappy internal card, it is hard for me to play games, Minecraft, TF2, GTA Series (including 4) COD Portal 1 & 2 etc.So after a while I just accepted it, and became addicted to Minecraft.But recently I came across some BIOS issues, the in otherboard drivers crashed, fixed the issue with the Crash Free BIOS3 included with the motherboard, and realised that there were some extra drivers that I didn't have. It came with the turbo key, some extra software for light overclocking of the CPU, and a graphics overclocker.Me not being a common overclocker myself, I have no idea what I'm doing, my CPU is fine, I can live with what I have.. But I would like to know how to work the GPU NOS.So I can get back to gaming, the computer can barely run GTA4 with 12FPS on minimum settings. Really cheezy looking.

The first step I must do is to partition a disk.As far as I have been reading tutorials on this site it is recommended to separate Windows/ programs and Documents into separate partitions. So I am going to create C- partition for Windows and Program Files of about 100MB.What about the other partitions. Is it worth to create separate partitions for say for "Images", "Documents", "Development Projects". Or is it better to put all this stuff into one partition? Advantage of multiple partitions, as I see, would be more flexibility for backup/recovery. From the other side, disadvantage of multiple partitions would be not optimal usage of disk space.
