However problem with that server, means that the admin kit is no longer running.I cannot update kaspersky manually as it says it is controlled by administrator, and there is no update section of the settings, for me to change where the server looks for its updates.Think it maybe something that can be changed in the registry editor, however when i attempt to change the value, i get a 'Error writing the values new contents'The correct permissions have been set, but still not working.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI like to reformat my computer periodically, it keeps everything running smooth. The time had come to reformat, so I popped in my XP Pro install disc and let it whirr. I did the usual deal, deleted my old partition, and recreated a new one using a Quick NTFS Format. The install went smoothly. Now however, I'm looking at some registry values, and I have all kinds of entries from old programs that were installed before I formatted. There are a few games on the list (FEAR, Oblivion, etc), the only problem is, I haven't installed those programs yet. It seems as if the format I've done didn't actually clean everything off.

The following registry key Code: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionPerflib09has a REG_MULTI_SZ entry called "Counter" that should contain a list of readable lables and values,I cut the entry's value short, the hex data extends to about 3000 lines (I exported the entry and opened it with a text editor). View 5 Replies View RelatedThis mandatory critical update was released today(April 25, 2006) at the Windows Updates site.Users of illegal or pirated copies of Windows XP - Microsoft announced that on Tuesday it will make Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) more bothersome than ever. A new update for WGA is now on the Windows Update website as a mandatory update. Once installed, your copy of Windows will be checked for validity.
If your Windows installation is found not to be genuine, Windows will display a message telling you that “This copy of Windows is not genuine.” Windows will check and display messages on every boot as well as once an hour (or so). The new WGA tool also puts an icon in your system tray if your copy of Windows is not genuine.

I am planning to run scandisk, and defrag. Also I will take a look at her startup list and compare it with sysinfo.org/startuplist and remove what I feel comfortable doing. If not installed I will install Spybot Search and Destroy and CCleaner (but uncheck the registry cleaner). They both no very little about keeping the computer cleaned out.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was not able to install a new version of an engineering software package because something was left behind in the registry from the older version that I had removed. So I stupidly deleted a couple of registry keys that looked related to the software without documenting them (not just the tags, but the folders with the long alphanumeric strings). Now when I try to install the software it gives me an error. I ran system restore but the problem is still there (I don't think it restored the registry keys I deleted). Is there a way to install all of the default Windows SP2 registry keys or to download and reinstall SP2 in general?
View 3 Replies View Relatedthe problem is, my mouse and keyboard are not working in that OS, so i cant do a damn thing, so luckily i have another OS installed on the second partition (which is where im writing from right now) and i was thinking, maybe i can export that key, as a reg-file and then just click on it, fixing the whole issue. Bad thinking, because i have nothing to click it with, no mouse, no keyboard! And its saved, right there on the desktop!!!So to my question, is there any way to add that key to the other OS registry from this OS, or maybe is there a way to activate the export-file at startup or something? maybe with DOS?
