Unable To Edit Registry Values Of Kaspersky?

Feb 9, 2009

I have kaspersky anti virus installed on a windows 2000 server, it used to update from the administration kit. However problem with that server, means that the admin kit is no longer running.I cannot update kaspersky manually as it says it is controlled by administrator, and there is no update section of the settings, for me to change where the server looks for its updates.Think it maybe something that can be changed in the registry editor, however when i attempt to change the value, i get a 'Error writing the values new contents'The correct permissions have been set, but still not working.

Leftover Registry Values After Reformat?

Sep 7, 2006

I like to reformat my computer periodically, it keeps everything running smooth. The time had come to reformat, so I popped in my XP Pro install disc and let it whirr. I did the usual deal, deleted my old partition, and recreated a new one using a Quick NTFS Format. The install went smoothly. Now however, I'm looking at some registry values, and I have all kinds of entries from old programs that were installed before I formatted. There are a few games on the list (FEAR, Oblivion, etc), the only problem is, I haven't installed those programs yet. It seems as if the format I've done didn't actually clean everything off.

If not installed I will install Spybot Search and Destroy and CCleaner (but uncheck the registry cleaner). They both no very little about keeping the computer cleaned out.

Unable To Edit Commercial Copied On Dvd?

I have Adobe Premiere 6.0, but I cannot seem to get that to work with this dvd. I was able to decrypt it to my hard drive. I am very familiar with DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink, but they are not for this type of editing, apparently. With DVD Shrink, all I can do is cut the beginning and the end credits etc. Is there something like DVD Shrink, but better, that lets you cut out the commercials and then encode it and burn it?

Remove Downloaded Update And Remove Registry Edit

I recently uninstalled Windows SP3 RC1 from my computer and reverted back to Windows SP2 through the use of Projekt (Project) Dakota. Before uninstallation though, one of my siblings had run this script to update to Windows SP3 RC2. I do not want to install the newest RC2, as I'm now waiting for a final release. I changed my Windows Update Settings to download but to not install, as it was already downloaded from yesterday. Is there anyway to remove the already downloaded but not installed update for Windows SP3 RC2, and is there anyway to remove the script (that tells the computer to download SP3 RC2?)

Start OS Eliminate Kaspersky Or Do System Restore?

May 13, 2006

I have a Toshiba sat pro 6000 running XP pro which was pre installed, so no discs.Last night I downloaded an upgrade of kapersky and when it asked me to reboot laptop the following happened.A black screen appeared asking if I wanted to start in safe mode and a list of other options, I chose safe mode and the screen filled up with a long list about multi disks partition , windows driver etc.So I closed down and then chose start windows normally from the black page and it then progressed on to scanning the disc which is does. It reports there are no problems and then opens up the black page again, and again and again.I have pressed F8 and I chose disable auto start up and a blue screen came up telling me of a possible problem and to use recovery cd which I don't have. Can anyone advise on how I can start windows so that I can eliminate kapersky or do a system restore.

This is easy, just click on the start button and then on run. Once run is open, type in regedit and click OK. Navigating the registry Once you have regedit open, it is fairly easy to get where you want to. Now you see the "folders" HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, HKEY_CURRENT_USER, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, HKEY_USERS,and HKEY_ CURRENT_CONFIG First lets get some basic terminology down.
