I dont know what file I must of deleted, but is there anyway I can download the driver or something to make it so that it can be set on opitions that are higher?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy friend installed a video game on his HP desktop (w/Windows XP) and changed the resolution settings to some odd selection that was 756x??? - something I had never seen before. Every time he loaded the game, it was illegible. In trying to change the display settings to make them compatible with the game, he chose this odd resolution (which was now available for some reason) for the desktop display settings, and now nothing can be read on the screen.

View 12 Replies View RelatedWhen using the start menu the you will notice a delay between different tiers of the menu hierarchy. For the fastest computer experience possible I recommend changing this value to zero. This will allow the different tiers to appear instantly.Start Regedit. If you are unfamiliar with regedit please refer to our FAQ on how to get started. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop Select MenuShowDelay from the list on the right. Right on it and select Modify. Change the value to 0 Reboot your computer. Note from forum Admin - a setting of zero (0) is virtually instantaneous - experiment with other settings (200 or 300 or 400 perhaps) to see what you are most comfortable with.
View 9 Replies View Relatedall tabs (Tables or whatever they are called) with all the different programs show in three columns.
But I have more than that and they don't show all ( have XP).
I remember I think in Win 98, I could go into Explorer/Filemanager, then move Programs around into Main Folders in the START folder or a folder of my choosing and make the columns shorter. I don't find where I can do this in XP. I tried as Adminstrator, myself, Guest, nothing works. XP just keeps the way it has decided to show them. I want Office:and its programs, Utilities with its programs, Graphics, Organizers, Toshibastuff, Webstuff, etc, all similar programs in a subfolder to choose from, instead of having to open Explorer to find them, because Windows own Tables don't show them all.

ive tried differrent things im wondering if theres a way to do it beside the application called resource hacker because i dont wanna touch the registry or explorer file.
It was impossible to get an Icon Package / Theme that would change ALL the icons in the Start Manu. The Typical Problem would arise with the Search and Run icons (I have disabled the rest...)A small search in the registry and I managed to identify the "keys" that control the default icons. To change them you need to get in the registry, and that can be done by going to Start > Run (or WinKey+R) and typing "regedit" (yes, without the quotes...)
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen Opera 6.02 is installed on a fresh copy of WinNT 5.1 (Home or Professional), there is a chance that you are unable to select it to act as the "default browser" icon on the Start Menu.To change the "default browser" icon, you would normally go to the Start Menu properties, select Customize, and then select your browser of choice from the drop-down menu. However, a fresh install of Opera 6.02 may not show up here.

In trying to trouble shoot the problem following directions on the ATI website, I changed all the graphic settings to the lowest and slowest available. This got rid of the distortion but the settings need to go! Now I cannot open the display settings.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAll my text/font display settings seem to have changed. I downloaded a freeware program today called avi2dvd, to convert avi video files to iso files for burning to DVD. I tried it out, got frustrated with it, and uninstalled it. After I uninstalled it, I went to check my email. That's when I first noticed that all the text in my yahoo email account had changed - it seemed smaller, like it was at a lower resolution.
I clicked on a few more pages and it was the same for all of them - the text was just not as...smooth. Not as readable. And definitely smaller. It's not just a font size thing, I'm not that much of a newbie, I tried enlarging the font and it's definitely a resolution thing, not just a font or size issue. Then I tried out some other programs, and found out that the problem was system-wide. I use a writing program called Final Draft, and the text in that is also less readable.I found one program that hadn't been affected: IE all my web pages display fine in Explorer.
my mom installed a virus the other day on accident. (Some program called Dr. Spy Shreddar, or something like that.) I deleted it, but some stuff was weird with the computer. I tried restarting the system to get the old configuration back, but the virus just installed itself again. I removed it again, using instructions from Systematic Antivirus and now it's really gone. Some of the settings were still weird though. So after hours of searching the help topics on Microsoft I managed to fix 1 & 1/2 of the problems I had/have.
For one of the problems they made me go into the registry and set something to the value of 0 in order to get the desktop tab back in the Display Properties box. (You know when you right click on the desktop and select properties.) That's all fine and dandy, but here's the other 1/2 of my problem: I can't access some of the features in the tab. (I have Windows XP Professional, by the way.) I can't click inside of the background list and it's shaded a sort of brownish beige color. I also can't browse and do anything with the position setting. I can however access the customize desktop and color features

View 8 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled XP Pro with SP1 on my computer today. Everything is working well except when my desktop loads the actual display is about an inch to the right on the screen. If I go into properties and change/apply the screen resolution from 800 x 600 then back to 1024 x 768 it realigns and all is well. I would just prefer to not have to do that each time I restart windows.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new Dell Inspiron 530 with WinXP Home. Everything is working fine ACCEPT, every time I do a cold restart of my computer the Display setting return to 'Windows XP Style'. I keep setting it to 'Windows Classic Style' with a green background and green title bar is individual windows. In addition, I have the sound set to 'No Sound' so all the beep and bells are shut off, that also reset itself to the default of endless annoying beep and whistles. I tried creating my own display Theme called 'Green-1'. When the computer does a power-up Start, the Themes display still says 'Green-1' but the display has been reset to 'Win XP Style'. However, the Start Menu and the background color remain as I set them (classic and green respectively).A warm power-on Restart some will maintain the setting and sometimes will not.
