My notebook Sony Vaio VGN-TXN15P (Windows XP) does not allow me to do anything on Ebay. Almost at each step it carries me to the "Guest page" to enter my name and passward. Moving from one page to another in "My Ebay", trying to place a bid, trying to see my items foe sale, etc.I tried to activate cookies or to reduce level of protection/security.
View 14 RepliesUntil recently there were a large number of Windows operating systems for sale on ebay. Particularly Win XP Pro OEM versions at reasonable prices. I purchased one several months ago, and it came in a sealed package, with COA and that beautiful CD. I finally got around to installing it on a new build, activated like a champ. But when I went to download some security updates it went berserk...THIS IS COUNTERFEIT, blah, blah. So I mailed it off to MS WGA. Now there are very few OSs listed on ebay. Could someone fill me in on what happened, and did MS make good on their offer to replace the fraudulent system with a good one? Also, how come it activated if it was counterfeit?

I went onto Crucial Technology's website, and it said I needed a:512MB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR PC3200 memory module, Can someone direct me to what would be compatible on eBay or Newegg.com because i have no idea of what I should buy. Would any 200-pin memory card work? And do I really need to spend the extra money on a 1 GB, or will a 512 be good?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a six year old dell. old installation of Windows XP is damaged beyond repair so I will have to reinstall it.I have the dell serial number, service tag number, and most of the other relevant information. I even have the original Windows XP license key number printed on a label on the side of my computer.the one thing that I do not have is the Windows XP installation disk.What is the best way to resolve this?I have seen XP disks for sale on ebay craigslist. Can I purchase one of those and install it on my old computer? If I do that should I get a new license key from them or do I use my old one.

I came across this ebay item. What do you guys think? Is this any good? If so, will the restore option install Windows XP instead of the Window 2000 that I currently have running?

I used my add & remove program to uninstall the program but not all of it got uninstalled. I deleted the folder and then did a search in my registry for anything with refernce to the programs name "Ebay's Blackthorne" and deleted all entries with that name.Every time I reboot windows tries to install something for Blackthorne and I have to keep cancelling it out.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI went out of town for 2 weeks, came home and my pc is acting really strange. I've been getting tons of pop-ups, to the point my computer freezes and i must restart. Not only that but it randomly reboots itself even when not being used. Also, when i go to delete files now, the file does NOT go into the recycle bin. I looked at the settings and there is no check mark next to the "do not move files into recycle bin". My BF said he had been downloading things so I figured maybe its a virus or something. I ran Nortons... nothing. Ran AVG... nothing. A friend told me it sounded like spyware so he told me to run Adaware & Spybot. Did that, found a ton of stuff. But when i retarted the pc, it wanted to start in "safe mode". I noticed that most of these pop ups are (search miracle ??) Found info that its a trojan, but i dont know. . I dont know what to do, totally computer illiterate.

I am sure that the bios have been affected and attempts to boot from either a floppy or cd get ignored in the loading process and the bios canot find the module to activate the periferal devices ie: keyboard, mouse, usb ports. I have norton anti viru when I turn my computer on it takes forever to start up.I always have to get repair for my Internet connection to work right. The freezing occurs randomly sometimes it occurs just after startup while other times i can play a game for a few hours before it freezes. Ive been in a repair shop a couple times and they havent solved the problem despite replacing the mother board and power supply. They also reformated the computer and still get the freezing problem. However they are giving me their old PC, which I will be using to install Linux on and use as a learning tool for myself.The problem comes in that they would like to use their XP Home license on the new machine. The old machine is a Compaq, and Compaq only supplies rescue disks.not an actual XP disk.Is there anyway for me to get their legally owned copy of XP onto their new machine without them having a store bought XP Home disk? I do have access to a XP Home disk, is it possible to do the install with that, and just enter their Product Key, or will that be recognized as an incorrect Product Key?
