Get A Box That Pops Up And Says Program Not Responding
Dec 8, 2004When shutting down my computer, I get a box that pops up and says program not responding C:documents/settings (that's the most I can see.. I can't see the whole path name). When I click on the end now, the error goes away and the computer shuts down properly. I looked in the task manager to see if anything was running and I didn't see anything and all programs look to be shut down before I tried to shut the computer down. I have Windows XP and I don't understand why something in C:documents/setting would be doing this.

A box come up, but on top of the heading it has not responding. Does this mean that I have to do something to it, so it will work?

Dec 2, 2004I went out of town for 2 weeks, came home and my pc is acting really strange. I've been getting tons of pop-ups, to the point my computer freezes and i must restart. Not only that but it randomly reboots itself even when not being used. Also, when i go to delete files now, the file does NOT go into the recycle bin. I looked at the settings and there is no check mark next to the "do not move files into recycle bin". My BF said he had been downloading things so I figured maybe its a virus or something. I ran Nortons... nothing. Ran AVG... nothing. A friend told me it sounded like spyware so he told me to run Adaware & Spybot. Did that, found a ton of stuff. But when i retarted the pc, it wanted to start in "safe mode". I noticed that most of these pop ups are (search miracle ??) Found info that its a trojan, but i dont know. . I dont know what to do, totally computer illiterate.

Nov 22, 2006Im extremely frustrated, computer keeps freezing not sure why. The freezing occurs randomly sometimes it occurs just after startup while other times i can play a game for a few hours before it freezes. Ive been in a repair shop a couple times and they havent solved the problem despite replacing the mother board and power supply. They also reformated the computer and still get the freezing problem. Also when it freezes i turn the power switch off on the back and then i get a noise from the speakers that sounds like someone tapping on a the desk. How can i discover the problem?

Sep 1, 2009When I open My Computer it freezes and does not respond.Everything else seems to work fine and after closing My Computer the computer runs fine.It also freezes when I get to My Computer when going through Save As or other routes.It has been doing this for 4-5 days now.I have run Malwarebytes and AVG Free with no infections.Computer is an older Dell Desktop P4 2.4 GHz with 1.5 GB RAM Tower (I don't have the model # here now) running Windows XP Home 2002 SP3.

Sep 11, 2007I'm getting quite annoyed at the problems that I think Explorer is causing.Things generally run fine until I open Explorer if I need to copy files etc.Most times, but not all the time, it will stop repsonding and i need to end the task in task manager. The rest of the system works without problem.I have attached a Hijack This log file. Even when the log file opened (txt format) it stopped resoponding and I had to use Task Manager to close the log file.

Sep 19, 2010I was playing a game as I normal and the pc hanged momentarily (made a buzzing noise and the screen froze) then the pc restarted itself.As it restarted, it rebooted 2 times after seeing the bluescreem. NOW, when I turn the pc on, it comes to the advanced windows startup menu (safemode, previous setting etc), I press enter on any of the options and the pc just hangs there. It just freezes from the moment I press enter, the keyboard stops working aswell. I checked the hardware when it happens, the fans are still working. The only thing is, the red light in the front stops blinking. But overall, it seems like the system just turned itself off internally or something.

I Installed the update for IE 6 for XP service pack 2 but am really confused as of what to do next. I was able to print off the Analysis.I'm suppose to go into safe mode ,which I know how to do, But then which I don't know how to do is: Turn off Internet Explorer Add-ons I don't recognize.
It say to turn off add-ons, follow these steps:
1 Open Internet Explorer
2. Click Tools menu, and then click Manage Add-ons.
3. Click the name of the add-on
4. Click Disable.

Jun 7, 2008My windows xp started moving really slow so i tried to fix it by doing the following: RAN-- cceaner; iobit smartdefra; cwshredder; kasaspy remover; windows defender; deleted old java and replaced t with new sun java; troan kiler; drive detective; zone alarm security; advanced window care; ad-ware spy scanner. It runs slower after all that. It takes 2 mins to load any thing, screen freezes, would n't log on or off properly. Dell help line just tells me to reinstall windows. but i think my hard drive is ruined. i'm trying to save money by not taking the computer in to a shop.

This does not happen when running Slackware, and I run the same programs (more or less). I need it to work with XP because some of the programs I run are Windows only. How do you trouble shoot a locking up issue? Because it locks, there are no event log entries, and no indication at all as to what is causing.

I did a system restore to my computer and all of my usb ports are not responding to anything, at first I thought it was the stuff I already used i.e. mouse and keyboard, but nothing works within the usbs. Tht meant that i couldn't log back on after my system restore because I couldn't type my password in. Then, for some stupid reason I went to change the voltage setting which is random and stupid, and now the computer won't even turn on. Dec 1, 2006I have Internet Explorer 7 for browser use outlook express for mail and XP is my Operating System. My daughter has XP and uses Sea Monkey for browser and mail program. I, my daughter and other people have commented that at different times their computers and mine all freeze and you get a program not responding message. In a matter of seconds or maybe a minute it clears and everything resumes as before slow down. All different computers, XP for Oerating System etc. and we all experience the slow down. Any comments on this. Could it be XP.I had some problems with Internet Explorer 7 at first but after some experience with it I'm satisfied with it.

Oct 25, 2007I have a 2004 Toshiba Satellite w/Celeron processor, M35X-S149, with Windows XP. A few days ago it started having this problem where the entire screen freezes up and I have to turn the computer off and restart. It freezes anywhere from 2 minutes to 4 hours into a session, but it freezes up every time. I don't know if this is related, but every time I restart, I get a message window from an application called Button Manager v1.83, that says: "No INITIO External Storage Device Found" and it has two buttons to click on, either : LED ON or LED OFF. I ran a virus scan, and an adaware scan, but it didn't help. My husband wants to throw out the computer and buy a new one, but there must be a way to fix this. Is it a virus
