Every time I attempt to shut down, I get a message that TeaTimer.exe is not responding and I have to end the program manually. I found TeaTimer in two file locations: C/Windows/Prefetch/TEATIMER.EXE-0390E8A7.pf and in Programs/Spybot Search and Destroy/Updates/teatimer.exe. Are these two separate programs? How can I get TeaTimer.exe to end properly at shutdown? Do I need to delete it/them?

I cannot get my IE to respond to UNsecure sites. Works great with secure sites. Neither will some programs update. Also MSN messenger will not see an internet connection. I am using dial up here.. I know, but nothing else is available here. My ISP is AOL. I had Earthlink free for 6 months when I got my computer, at the same time I had AOL, both worked fine with each other installed. AFTER I installed Earthlink Accellerator IE would no longer work with aol. Mozilla still works good as ever. I have spybot, adaware, and have cleared all history, etc. in IE. Does anyone have any idea what my problem is. I have contacted Dell, AOL, Earthlink and done what they said, no one can help me. I found something on the net about a guy that had the same prob. one time and he had to change something in the registry.

Well ever since I installed Bitdefender 9, it seems that my computer has gone slow. It starts up quick and all but its when i'm browsing, or choosing to bring up another program on the toolbar, or to start a new program. Its like the programs arn't responding and then I eventually have to wait for everything to work again, its a real pain in the butt because I tried deleting Bitdefender and it won't let me because i get a "Write to folder C:WINDOWSInstaller" message and same with ANY other program I try to uninstall in Add/Remove Programs.

Have been having problem lately w/ alot of my programs freezing up w/ Not Responding noted in task manager and have to close program. Have defragged, ad aware, and spybotted to no avail. I've looked thru threads but can't seem to find cure. Do alot of work w/ PS elements and performance has slowed considerably. Also Roxio DVD creator freezes almost everytime I use it now. Dell w/ P-4,512 RAM,XP home. Ran Pitstop and it highlighted fact that CPU usage was @ 30 while idle. No viruses etc. found when I run Norton, but would note that when I run Liveupdate that it is unable to install "symantec redirector" update. Thoughts or ideas?

I have 4 sign in's including the administrator, when I log in under the administrator, no programs or icons respond, including My Computer. Under the other log in's, they do respond but I do not have access to make changes or to see my data to back it up. I managed to install Norton Antivirus from DOS and cleaned up a few viruses but programs will still not respond. Should I reinstall XP, would I loose my data ? Also I can not find my XP disk but do have the package with the key, can you download another version and input the key?

Searched web and only find answers related to single programs, yet ALOT of my programs are not responding. At one point I could not get Task Manager to come up to end non-responding program.

my family have damaged the computer in some way that im not sure about. I do not know whether its a virus or something else. On startup, all the programs that run automatically fail to and the "Program not responding" message is displayed for each one, and programs continue try to open to no effect. Any program which i try opening after that also has this problem. When i look at the task manager, no processes are given any memory usage.

My laptop has just decided to run very slowly of late.So much so that I am unable to run certain programs. Some will load up but if you try and navigate through any screens etc the program will stop working (comes up with not responding in windows task manager). This is even happening with windows explorer.I've got Norton 360, which although it should automatically boot up at start up is failing to do so.I can't even get it to run to perfom a system scan. This leads me to think I may have a nasty virus or worse still failing hardware

I am running on windows XP SP2 integrated. I realised that whenever I start my PC,windows does not respond(i.e. when I click on my internet explorer and all other applications / programs, they do not respond).I have to wait for at least 10-15 mins or restart 2 to 3 times, then windows can respond.I really do not know what is going on.I have scanned my PC with noadware but found nothing.Should I reformat my PC or perform a system restore? I am currenting using Intel Pentium III processor with 801 MHz,256MB of RAM.

This computer has begun to need re-booting many times per day. There are numerous problems commencing with startup, so I'll begin there.I run Ad-aware 6, Spybot S&D and HijackThis frequently in order to try to prevent intrusions, but something seems to have failed!Upon startup, there is (recently) always a ZoneAlarm message saying that "explorer.exe is trying to access the internet" Although I have clicked the box for my (Deny) response to be remembered, the message has appeared at each startup for the last month or so, and I'm tired of that.Likewise, ZoneAlarm asks for permission to allow Firefox to access the internet shows up each time I start that even though I've told ZA to remember it.

I'm getting quite annoyed at the problems that I think Explorer is causing.Things generally run fine until I open Explorer if I need to copy files etc. Most times, but not all the time, it will stop repsonding and i need to end the task in task manager. The rest of the system works without problem.I have attached a Hijack This log file. Even when the log file opened (txt format) it stopped resoponding and I had to use Task Manager to close the log file.

I was playing a game as I normal and the pc hanged momentarily (made a buzzing noise and the screen froze) then the pc restarted itself. As it restarted, it rebooted 2 times after seeing the bluescreem. NOW, when I turn the pc on, it comes to the advanced windows startup menu (safemode, previous setting etc), I press enter on any of the options and the pc just hangs there. It just freezes from the moment I press enter, the keyboard stops working aswell. I checked the hardware when it happens, the fans are still working. The only thing is, the red light in the front stops blinking. But overall, it seems like the system just turned itself off internally or something.

I have been having some problems with my computer not responding and got a pop up box to report error, I reported the error then got the Microsoft Online Crash Analysis- response. I Installed the update for IE 6 for XP service pack 2 but am really confused as of what to do next. I was able to print off the Analysis.I'm suppose to go into safe mode ,which I know how to do, But then which I don't know how to do is: Turn off Internet Explorer Add-ons I don't recognize.
It say to turn off add-ons, follow these steps:
1 Open Internet Explorer
2. Click Tools menu, and then click Manage Add-ons.
3. Click the name of the add-on
4. Click Disable.

My windows xp started moving really slow so i tried to fix it by doing the following: RAN-- cceaner; iobit smartdefra; cwshredder; kasaspy remover; windows defender; deleted old java and replaced t with new sun java; troan kiler; drive detective; zone alarm security; advanced window care; ad-ware spy scanner. It runs slower after all that. It takes 2 mins to load any thing, screen freezes, would n't log on or off properly. Dell help line just tells me to reinstall windows. but i think my hard drive is ruined. i'm trying to save money by not taking the computer in to a shop.

I have a fairly new machine with linux (Slackware 10.0) and XP installed. From time to time when running XP it locks up and stops responding, and I have to power cycle it. This does not happen when running Slackware, and I run the same programs (more or less). I need it to work with XP because some of the programs I run are Windows only. How do you trouble shoot a locking up issue? Because it locks, there are no event log entries, and no indication at all as to what is causing.

i have windows xp and here lately my computer quits responding. Sometimes when I open a program, my computer will start doing it's thing then all of a sudden it quits and I'll hit my task manager and it says that the programs is not responding. Same thing with my cd rom, I'll put in a disc and my computer acts like it's going to start and then I get the same message. That it's not responding. What is it that makes it do that? And what can I do about it? It's starting to get annoying.

I'm pretty decent with software but this one has completely bemused me. I did a system restore to my computer and all of my usb ports are not responding to anything, at first I thought it was the stuff I already used i.e. mouse and keyboard, but nothing works within the usbs. Tht meant that i couldn't log back on after my system restore because I couldn't type my password in. Then, for some stupid reason I went to change the voltage setting which is random and stupid, and now the computer won't even turn on. Please help as I don't want to have to fork out for a new computer.

I decided to use a computer at an Elementary school I work at in Japan. I switched it on and then checked my email and surfed the web. I decided to shut down the computer after I finished. The next day a teacher says do not shut down the computer because last night teachers could not use the computer. Is this just a security reason once you shut down you can't use the computer again for that day? I always thought it was simply reenter the password and reconnect to the internet again to use the computer again.

Every now and then when starting my pc (WinXP), it seems to enter a hanging mode. I know when the problem is occurring because the sound card icon doesn't show on the task bar.I don't know if all programs are non-functioning, but the internet connection and the sound card are not only when this occurs. The main problem: the pc will not shutdown. Bringing up the task manager won't work either, leaving me no choice but to shut off the pc via surge switch. What can cause this problem?

When I go to the start button and go to the turn off computer option, the computer freezes. Then when I shut down by going to windows task manager, after everything closes and goes to the screen "windows is now shutting down", it never shuts down. The computer just stays on that screen forever, and then I have to shut off the computer with the power button.
