On Line Crash / Computer Is Not Responding

Sep 17, 2005

I have been having some problems with my computer not responding and got a pop up box to report error, I reported the error then got the Microsoft Online Crash Analysis- response. I Installed the update for IE 6 for XP service pack 2 but am really confused as of what to do next. I was able to print off the Analysis.I'm suppose to go into safe mode ,which I know how to do, But then which I don't know how to do is: Turn off Internet Explorer Add-ons I don't recognize.
It say to turn off add-ons, follow these steps:

1 Open Internet Explorer
2. Click Tools menu, and then click Manage Add-ons.
3. Click the name of the add-on
4. Click Disable.

I'm using a small apache server on a local network for a wiki, and I integrate php functions mixed with windows system calls as well.
I'd like to be able to output to a .txt file a search result of *.something on all the available network machines.

I can do the search with the exploer 'Find' function, although its speed is ridiculously slow. However, I can't seem to be able to find an equivalent function in DOS. (DIR is only applicable on one's own machine

Computer Stops Responding

Dec 5, 2004

This computer has begun to need re-booting many times per day. There are numerous problems commencing with startup, so I'll begin there.I run Ad-aware 6, Spybot S&D and HijackThis frequently in order to try to prevent intrusions, but something seems to have failed!Upon startup, there is (recently) always a ZoneAlarm message saying that "explorer.exe is trying to access the internet" Although I have clicked the box for my (Deny) response to be remembered, the message has appeared at each startup for the last month or so, and I'm tired of that.Likewise, ZoneAlarm asks for permission to allow Firefox to access the internet shows up each time I start that even though I've told ZA to remember it.

The rest of the system works without problem.I have attached a Hijack This log file. Even when the log file opened (txt format) it stopped resoponding and I had to use Task Manager to close the log file.

Computer Stops Responding On Startup

Sep 19, 2010

I was playing a game as I normal and the pc hanged momentarily (made a buzzing noise and the screen froze) then the pc restarted itself. As it restarted, it rebooted 2 times after seeing the bluescreem. NOW, when I turn the pc on, it comes to the advanced windows startup menu (safemode, previous setting etc), I press enter on any of the options and the pc just hangs there. It just freezes from the moment I press enter, the keyboard stops working aswell. I checked the hardware when it happens, the fans are still working. The only thing is, the red light in the front stops blinking. But overall, it seems like the system just turned itself off internally or something.

It was clear that the ones which you pay for is better than the free versions [find more files] On the ones that let you see a list of what it's found but does not let you retrieve the photo's unless you pay for the full programme On a couple of programs they showed the 'missing' files and file names and I'm wanting to buy.

Installed OS: Computer Locked Up And Stopped Responding?

Aug 14, 2005

I have a fairly new machine with linux (Slackware 10.0) and XP installed. From time to time when running XP it locks up and stops responding, and I have to power cycle it. This does not happen when running Slackware, and I run the same programs (more or less). I need it to work with XP because some of the programs I run are Windows only. How do you trouble shoot a locking up issue? Because it locks, there are no event log entries, and no indication at all as to what is causing.

System Restore To My Computer / My Usb Ports Are Not Responding

May 4, 2010

I'm pretty decent with software but this one has completely bemused me. I did a system restore to my computer and all of my usb ports are not responding to anything, at first I thought it was the stuff I already used i.e. mouse and keyboard, but nothing works within the usbs. Tht meant that i couldn't log back on after my system restore because I couldn't type my password in. Then, for some stupid reason I went to change the voltage setting which is random and stupid, and now the computer won't even turn on. Please help as I don't want to have to fork out for a new computer.

Computer Running Slow - System Crash - Firefox

Oct 17, 2008

Lately my computer has been having many issues regarding its performance. It's an old computer, about 4 yrs old. HP Pavillion, Windows XP. It runs at around 100% when I have about 3 or 4 programs open, when I restart I almost always receive a message about hardware monitor finding an error. At one time I was wondering if my mouse or keyboard could be the culprit. Sometimes when I am opening tabs in new windows on firefox, and right click with my mouse.it opens the site in a new window or it shows me the element properties, tries to save the page, bookmark it, etc. I have scanned for viruses and have come up with nothing. I am afraid to turn my computer off because I don't know if it will come back. I've done about three whole system restores on it (all of which have had issues that have resolved if the restore has been started and then let to rest for a few days.)

Another issue last night, was that Firefox would not respond when I entered a website. It would say that it was finding the site, but then it would say "done" very quickly. I put the computer in hibernate (and the part that says "windows is preparing to hibernate" looked drastically different.) This morning I wanted to find out the problem with firefox. i got a message about how firefox had crashed and needed to be restarted. I clicked on "restart firefox" and my computer had a bluescreen error and crashed. This is the message I recieved from windows about that: Blue screen error caused by a device or driver. You received this message because a hardware device, its driver, or related software has caused a blue screen error. This type of error means the computer has shut down abruptly to protect itself from potential data corruption or loss. In this case, we were unable to detect the specific device or driver that caused the problem.

No Line-in

Sep 15, 2009

I own a Dell M1710 XPS laptop with a SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC card that was shipped with Vista Home Premium installed on it. I had this same problem already while Vista was my OS and actually managed to find a work-around to solve the problem;however it caused more. The mini sub-woofer stopped working and there was a noticeable decrease in sound quality. And at times sound stopped emitting altogether.due to complications with Vista, I was forced to reformat my computer.I have noticed a great increase in FPS in all my games and overall snappy-ness navigating through windows. my Line-In option is shown in all sound applications, but it does not work. I wanted to record videos of my games, and it works (Finally!!!) But no sound.

Line Under Taskbar

Jan 17, 2007

I didn't make a wise decision. I used a clean up program called ET Remover and it was going to remove something from the registry. But when it tried to, it didn't work saying that it was being used by another program. So I went into the registry and took it out. Dumb.I'm not completely sure if that's why I have this problem, but it seems like a likely candidate. Under my taskbar there is a line which is not supposed to be there. I took a picture of it with my camera because it wouldn't show up in print screen. Made it red so it was easy to see in the picture. It has a shaking like effect. If I open a window of something and move it around I can see it moving in the bottom space. I also have a program called windows blinds, but I dont think that's the problem. It's not the monitor either. I ran a symantec scan, but I really doubt that could be it. I also tried a system restore to no avial.
