Computer Crash/just Recovered From A Critical Error?
May 10, 2006
I experiance this problem mostly when i'm gaming so it makes me think that whats causing it could be an overheating issue. anyway in the middle of a game the computer will just restart and when windows loads it says Windows has just recovered from a critical error.
My pc restarted. I thought it was because of an update or something. Soon after, it restarted again. I noticed that the pc was restarting every 20-30mins and when I would login, I would have a message telling me Ive recovered from a serious error. I used the restore wizard, and restored to 4-5 days before I got the problems. I didnt have a problem for about 4-5 days, and then it started restarting again. It still restarts, but now every few hours. I havent dont any hardware or software cahnges in teh last week. Ive only installed PS3 Video 9 and then I uninstalled it thinking it may have been because of that program. I also deleted everything I downloaded in those few days and ran nod32. So should I restore my pc to like a month before? maybe that will get rid of it? Is it software related, or is something lose in the computer?
My Computer keeps rebooting. It does this several times a day. It started about 2 weeks ago. When it reboots it says the computer has recovered from a serious error, and a few click here links, leading me to a .dmp and a .xls file. It doesn't matter what I am doing. Sometimes I'll click a desktop icon .reboot. Then click a link from my email pop client.reboot. Or maybe I click a link in my browser.reboot. it's not one thing that I do, when it decides to reboot. I unchecked the auto restart button, and got this blue screen. I have not added any new Hardware or software. I formatted and re installed new Windows XP Pro Sp2 3 days ago, hoping it was software virus related NOPE Is something wrong with my usb ports? The CPU fan is working goot and the temps are good, do it's not over heating.
Im getting a Microsoft Windows Error at every computer start up or more commonly after a game i was playing crashes and the computer restarts or has to be restarted. The error is: The system has recovered from a serious error. After sending the error report it directed me to the microsoft windows error reporting page with "corrupted error report" and the following " Unfortunately, the error report you submitted is corrupted and cannot be analyzed. Corrupted error reports are rare. They can be caused by hardware or software problems, and they usually indicate a serious problem with your computer."
I have been having problems with the computer starting up correctly in the 'regular' windows screen. The latest problem I had was that the computer wasn't starting correctly. It gave me a screen that said something about starting in the 'safe mode'. To my recollection, the words 'last known windows configuration' (something to that effect) was high lighted and it was counting down. It look like it wanted to start up windows, but kept going back to the screen with me wanting to choose a method of startup. After a couple of tries, Windows finally started up.Lately I been getting an dialogue box that says: "The system has recovered from a serious error."
I was scanning with AVG, and when I came baack to the pc, there was a dialogue box on the screen with recovering from serious error message. No new software or programs have been installed.
I'm having hard/software or driver issues, I guess. I get an info box that says: The system has recovered from a serious error. I have sent the requested report to micro. My question is how do I keep the error message box from popping up every minute? I'm looking into the prob with the error but can't take the message much longer.
Earlier this evening my brother wanted to transfer a song to his MP3 player, so I got it all setup for him and ran off for a minute. When I came back, he said the computer had just restarted itself while he was trying to transfer the song. I came back to see the computer had just finished running through the Scandisk/ErrorCheck and was starting up again. When I signed back into my desktop, I recieved a message stating the computer had recovered from a serious error. I clicked for more details and spread the windows out so I was able to take a screenshot of all 3 messages about the error. I attached the picture to this post.We went ahead and got the song transfered just fine afterwards, but when I went to connect to the internet, it wouldn't dial up and said the modem was not there. I went into the Modem settings and it said the "Lucent Win Modem" was not there. This is the one that was setup by default with Windows XP. My Zoom modem will not work for some reason (which is what is currently installed right now). I did manage to fix the problem by shutting things down, removing the modem, putting it back into the PCI slot and starting things up again. In the Modem settings, it showed that the Lucent Win Modem was there and running correctly. I was able to connect fine afterwards. Could whatever the "serious error" was have caused this problem? Is there a way I can reinstall the Lucent Win Modem again should this happen again and removing the card does not work next time? Like I said, my modem is a Zoom modem but I cannot get it going, but for some reason the computer sees that Lucent modem and it uses my Zoom modem to connect just fine.
Can anybody tell me what this error was for, and any ideas as to why the system decided to restart? It just took me a year before I was able to repair my system because it automatically restarted and I'd really rather it didn't start it up again since a lot of money had to be put into fixing this computer. Also, the 2 files listed in the bottom window of that screenshot are not located on my hard drive. I went to the exact location listed, but that last subfolder is not listed in the Temp directory anywhere. I have all hidden files set to be shown already. I also ran a search on the entire drive and there are no such files located on the drive.
When booting up my PC, I am receiving the following error message 'STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): SystemRootSystem32ConfigSOFTWARE or its lor or alternative. It is corrupt, absent or not writable'. I understand that the OS needs to be recovered from the XP bootup disk but the OS was pre-installed so I do not have a copy of this.
Lately i've been having some problems with my pc. Some of the programs that i use seem to have an error with it. For example, when i'm using opera a box pops up saying an error has occured with opera and needs to shut down the program (asking me whether to send an error report or not). This is not the only program that does this. Even Media player, bittorrent, winamp, windows messenger, actually its most programs.Sometimes i get an error with 'DrWatson Postmortem Debugger' which causes my pc to lock up.A few times i got a blue screen error. Each time that happens the pc restarts itself and then i get another message saying 'system has recovered from a serious error', again asking me to send an error report or not.
I just normally turned my pc on and when it loaded up, I got this message..And so I clicked on the 'click here' and this appeared. What does it mean?Has something harmed my pc or have I got a virus?Only it has done this twice today each time I have turned on my pc.So basically it's happening every time I turn my computer on.
Quite frequently while I'm in the middle of typing an email in Gmail, my computer without warning restarts itself. When I log back in I get this dialog box that tells me the subject title and offers to send to the error report to Microsoft. I'm not the only one who has experienced that. So, what do you think is the problem and how can I stop the computer from arbitrarily restarting itself?
On Saturday I got the first of these. I was on the internet, pressed the back key and the computer shut down without warning of any kind. It was slow to boot back up which it did of its own accord. Then displayed this message, "The system has recovered from a serious error."
Problem with a HP Pavilion t760a with intel 915p chipset and a Puffer-UL8E(PTGD1-LA) Motherboard. Windows XP SP2. I nstalled new Ram (2x1GB) ,tested it, pc worked fine. Then installed a new Graphics card..An ATI Radeon HD 2400XT.Now there is a yellow exlamation mark against one of the "Microsoft UAA bus driver for high definition audio" and the computer if left idle will reboot by itself and load with this message.." the system has recovered from a serious error...etc" and I get an error code 12 message.."windows could not find enough resources ....disable something else to free up "(something like that)
For the last 4 weeks or so I have been having problems starting up my computer. It freezes on the password screen, it automatically restarts, usually takes me about 4 attempts to get my computer up and running. Then, when I finally do get it going it gives me a message saying:
THE SYSTEM HAS RECOVERED FROM A SERIOUS ERROR
I sent off my error report and a screen opened up with a few recommendations, such as running diagnostic tests on certain softwares, and trying a system restore, which I did but to no avail.
I"ve just come from PC Pitstop for a computer scan ....this after I'd done disc cleanup, defrag, and spyware clean-up.....to find out why my computer's so darned slow. I got a score of 675 out of a possible 720, but the yellow flag was on the internet ("adjust your IE cache") connection. THEN, a little window popped up and here's what it says: "Messenger Service Message FROM to TO on 7/1/2006 2:38:41 PM STOP! WINDOWS REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION Windows has found 55 Critical System Errors. To fix the errors please do the following: 1.Download Registry Update from "www.regfixit.com" 2. Install Registry Update 3. Run Registry Update 4. Reboot your computer. FAILURE TO ACT NOW MAY LEAD TO SYSTEM FAILURE!
so i get my laptop from my brother who was borrowing it and i see in the start menu that there is a little icon that flashes from a blue and white question mark into the red circle with one line symbol. when highlighted it says Critical System Error!. i click on it and it pops up a page for me to download some antimalware or something. idk what's going on so i'm doing an ewido scan and i did a hijackthis log
i was going to transfer some pictures from my memory card to my computer. When i clicked on my computer this window popped up and said " Your computer was infected by unknown Trojan . It is dangerous for your system critical files can be lost Click ok to download the anti-spyware program to clean your system recommended
So this week MS released a critical update for IE6. The IE update failed on my machine.I submitted a trouble ticket via MS online portal which is free if a failure or anomaly occurs during a windows update. Yes, I gave permission for the MS portal to extract certain files. At the moment I am disinclined to download IE7 as my 99% preference4 is Firefox save for Windows and Office updates which require IE.Here is the response from MS.
My computer randomly restarts. It does not do a proper shut down it just powers off and then restarts. My computer specs are:AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (1.67GHz)256 mb memoryXp Profesional Service pack 2When my computer restarts in comes up with the message Your computer has recovered from a serious error.
anytime I am working on it it will suddenly turn off. I mean one second I'm working away and the next it's booting up as though someone flicked the switch off and on again really quickly. When it starts up it shows the message "Windows has recovered from a serious error". It happens when I doing 3d work, burning a dvd, listening to music or even opening a document. It's not and never was connected to the internet.
Within the past 2 or 3 days, I've been getting BSODs 3 times a day. They seem to always happen when I'm randomly surfing on Firefox, but I thought this belonged here. They seem to happen after I've recovered the computer from standby mode (I make it go to sleep instead of shutting down and rebooting most of the time) and am surfing firefox. I've noticed that I can do all I want with no problems before sending the computer into standby, but after standby I'm on borrowed time. Maybe I'm forgetting a time that it has shut down on me after a fresh boot, but that seems true.
Whenever I try to start it up, I get an error (before the XP logo and the progress bar) that says that Windows cannot find certain files. I have tried safe mode, last known good configuration, etc. Nothing works.I tried booting from a KNOPPIX Linux Live CD, but for some reason it refuses to boot.I have Win XP Home (preinstalled) on this computer, but it also has a recovery partition (which will erase all my files if I use it - this is a last resort only) and a Win XP Pro upgrade CD.
First of all, how can I get KNOPPIX to run correctly? If I can get it to work, I can get the files I need and do a wipe and reinstall of Windows (which would fix a LOT of things).
Second, if that doesn't work, can I use the XP Pro upgrade CD to get the system back up enough to get the files?Third, if that fails, how can I partition my hard drive and install Linux, then access the Windows partition and save the files I want?
my toshiba laptop was working fine. then a few days ago one of my games gave me a regular error during the start "game.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." when i clicked 'click here' it displayed some info including "modname:msvcr71.dll". i thought maybe that game had somehow gone corrupt and i reinstalled it. the error did not go away and i was unable to play my game. then suddenly explorer.exe started giving me the same message with the same msvcr71.dll listed as modname. in both cases, the error message says that the following file will be included in the report and then some appcompat.txt in some temp folder. this file was unique everytime but the phrase appcompat.txt was constant. also when i tried to find this file in the specified location i found that it did not exist. i cannot understand what triggers the error, it occurs totally randomly, but i have to be dragging a file icon.
when the error message is displayed, the system does not stop and i can choose to ignore the message for as long as i want, everything is fine. when i click close the explorer restarts.also, recently i got similar errors from vlc player when i tried to play a wmv file in slow motion. this error message also lists msvcr71.dll as mod name.then another game started giving me the same problem with the same modname msvcr71.dll.i cant make any sense of all this.
I have a Compaq-based computer running WinXP SP2 on it and for a little while I've had explorer.exe crash on me from time to time just out of the blue. Well a new problem has risen and it started today and its a nasty one. I was testing out a file-sharing program, but it said I needed the latest Java update to run it, so I went to the Sun Java website and downloaded their J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 06 (that's what was on the site) and got that all set up and started checking out the program I had downloaded earlier (Limewire Basic) from Filehippo.com and as soon as I clicked on a file from the list of files that came up in my search, the program would instantly close out without notification. I didnt see it as a big deal. I got a hold of the file I was downloading, but every time I went to or near the folder in my personal folder's directory, explorer.exe decided to crash on me. So I thought I might have caught a virus, so I looked to see if it was on some programs I've used in the past for finding trojans and whatnot and it came up clean. So I uninstalled and deleted LimeWire and thought maybe the Java had something to do with it. Turns out I was wrong again. So right now this machine has no Java on it. So I went into safe mode and still could not get to the folder with the file in it. Explorer.exe AND the Dr Watson Postmortem Debugger app both crashed on me (got that normal error in which you can send out an error report to Microsoft) and it did this several times.
So then I booted the computer back into the normal mode and attempted to get to the file through the cmd.exe (DOS) program and I eventually figured out (with the help of someone on my buddylist) how to get to the specific directory that the folder was in and I tried to delete it, but everytime I typed "Y" to the prompt, cmd.exe would crash as well. Now it sais that there are 0 files in the folder (has 3 subfolders in it) that I was trying to delete and 5 folders (including the "." & ".." on the DOS prompt. So I've been screwing around with this for about 4 1/2 hours now and I've had no luck getting to that specific folder. If I try to get to it through my folder, explorer.exe crashes. I can get right to the directory that the folder is in and then it will just crash. Everything else seems to run just fine. I havent tried checking the disk check thing, but what does one reccomend I do? I've already reformatted this computer once before (last year) and I dont want to have to do it again (because I dont have the money or the WinXP disk to get it reformatted again).
I get this message each time I log into Windows XP. Using the Online Crash Analysis I fixed the problem but I cannot get this message to stop coming up.
On bootup I receive the error message "Critical Status-the Raid 1 array needes to be duplicated to ensure data consistancy." When I try and "Duplicate Now" it starts and then I receive another error, "Duplicating error!! The array is not functional."If I ignore the error message and continue to boot the system (XP Pro) it cotinues to boot normally. This happens every time.My question is: Should I try on bootup to remove the Raid array and then reinstall the array to clear the problem and in doing so, would I lose or cause harm to my hard drive(s) data?
