i am troubled with following message popped up:
Your Computer is infected!
Critical System Error!.... (read it in the attachment)
I ran my up-to-date antispyware program (spy sweeper) and antivirus (norton), and while it did get rid of a few things, the message still pops up.
Clicking on the popup takes me to the site in the attachment.
so i get my laptop from my brother who was borrowing it and i see in the start menu that there is a little icon that flashes from a blue and white question mark into the red circle with one line symbol. when highlighted it says Critical System Error!. i click on it and it pops up a page for me to download some antimalware or something. idk what's going on so i'm doing an ewido scan and i did a hijackthis log

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy operating system is "Windows xp professional" with 512 Mb ram.A program came from internet which every two or three minutes opens a small window (baloon) saying "critical system error" and "system detects virus activities get antimalware software to fix the problem" and then "click this baloon to get all available software" If you click the baloon it sends you to an internet adress "http//www.virusburst.com" There they try to sell me a program called "Virusburst".My system seems to work fine though.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI"ve just come from PC Pitstop for a computer scan ....this after I'd done disc cleanup, defrag, and spyware clean-up.....to find out why my computer's so darned slow. I got a score of 675 out of a possible 720, but the yellow flag was on the internet ("adjust your IE cache") connection. THEN, a little window popped up and here's what it says:

I experiance this problem mostly when i'm gaming so it makes me think that whats causing it could be an overheating issue. anyway in the middle of a game the computer will just restart and when windows loads it says Windows has just recovered from a critical error.
When i logon my pc reboot it self. A message comes up. PC recovered from a critical error.

The IE update failed on my machine.I submitted a trouble ticket via MS online portal which is free if a failure or anomaly occurs during a windows update. Yes, I gave permission for the MS portal to extract certain files.At the moment I am disinclined to download IE7 as my 99% preference4 is Firefox save for Windows and Office updates which require IE.Here is the response from MS.

When I try and "Duplicate Now" it starts and then I receive another error, "Duplicating error!! The array is not functional."If I ignore the error message and continue to boot the system (XP Pro) it cotinues to boot normally. This happens every time.My question is: Should I try on bootup to remove the Raid array and then reinstall the array to clear the problem and in doing so, would I lose or cause harm to my hard drive(s) data?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI tried to start it up and it takes forever to load. It takes a couple of minutes to open any of the icons on the desktop too (Mozilla, Word). I tried to clean up as best I could. I ran some spyware programs and antivirus and nothing too much showed up -- no viruses. It takes so long to run these programs that I go off and do other stuff and come back hours later and the scans are still running! Is there anything that you can recommend to get the laptop running as it should?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI am running Win XP-SP2. I wiped my hard drive due to irresolvable software conflicts. I reinstalled XP-SP2, Office, Norton, the printer and scanner and my digital camera software package. All were updated and working perfectly until Sunday. I booted up the machine only to get a warning that says One of your disks may have errors let the computer reboot itself (which it will do repeatedly, stuck in a reboot loop) or you can hit any key to ignore this warning. You have only ten seconds to read all this and make a decision.
Once the computer boots up, everything seems to work as normal except for system restore. I tried to restore to the day after I reformatted and installed everything and all I get is an error saying Cannot restore to that point, please choose another point to restore tooor something to that effect.
I'm running xp and cannot download critical update KB888162. Can anyone tell me what this is or why it will not install?

Yesterday I did another scan and it revealed there is a critical update KB929969. In Microsoft's downloads, the closest I am able to come for a system needing an update of this number is Windows 2000 - which I don't have. Apparently, it's some sort of security update for IE6. Does anyone have any type of useful information for me? I would hate to think my system is vulnerable to some type of malware - been there, done that.

This problem is new; just started after the November MS critical updates were installed last week. Google and Yahoo continue to work in IE. This was just to double check that the system I was working on was absolutely up to date.Automatic update was set to Auto. Windows update website informed me that a critical update was required. it turned out to be the Windows Bogus (Genuine) Advantage Authentication... I had no choice but to Activate the system before I was allowed to continue checking for updates. Bloody cheek! passing off this 'Genuine advantage authentication' as a critical update. One day I am bound to come across a system that does not pass this authentication. Will the system be usable or will they lock the system until I have made a groveling phone call or worse have to inform my customer/neighbour/friend of a friend that "Sorry I know you just wanted me to check your system was up to date but now you must pay £200 for an Operating system"
I have XP Pro, SP1. Everytime I try to install the above critical update, my pc indicates for me to restart now, but upon restarting it trys to install the patch again.I couldn't find anything about this on Microsoft's website. Any suggestions?

See, I am at a college in california, and there is this program called "Cisco Clean Access" which is like a toll booth to use the internet here. You have a student ID and a password.for some reason, the campus administrators changed Cisco Clean Access so that it requires everyone to update their computers, mainly PC people. I just got my desktop up and running after installing 2 new GPU's and a PSU, and am now updating it. I have the updates, but one of them is giving me some lip! here "Updates were unable to be successfully installed.
