I'm using Windows XP I was looking in my Communication column, (Start, All programs, Accessories) and saw that there is a fax. I clicked on the Fax Console to see what pops up. A box come up, but on top of the heading it has not responding. Does this mean that I have to do something to it, so it will work?
View 2 RepliesWhen shutting down my computer, I get a box that pops up and says program not responding C:documents/settings (that's the most I can see.. I can't see the whole path name). When I click on the end now, the error goes away and the computer shuts down properly. I looked in the task manager to see if anything was running and I didn't see anything and all programs look to be shut down before I tried to shut the computer down. I have Windows XP and I don't understand why something in C:documents/setting would be doing this.

I have no Xp start up disk either. So I am unsure how to get my pc to boot at all now Can anyone suggest how to get my PC to boot backup? View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop on boot-up consistently gives a blue screen with ERROR (0X000000ED (0X81ACA988, 0XC0000006,0X00000000,0X00000000). I have read most of your fixes BUT in my case no matter what I do it ALWAYS boots to this screen. Trying to boot to Safe Mode results in a list of drivers prefixed by ?multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)c:windowsdriver.sys etc The machine will not boot from Floppy or CD and I?ve tried every combination of boot sequence under the F12 menu. In the BIOS it will not allow me to change any relevant settings, only the ?system date?, ?system time? and ?quiet boot?.and I cannot select the dropdown menu items either. Booting under Normal Startup, I see the Windows Logo and all that, but then the blue screen appears. I?ve tried removing the hard disk to get it to boot to floppy, removing the battery (which is totally dead), memory module, etc. Only thing left I think is to sling it in the Caribbean Ocean and go drink a bottle of rum.

When I try clicking internet links, items in drop down menus, etc, I have to click maybe two to three times to get the system to act on the command. I have run every virus program I have, deleted my temp files, deleted my temp internet files and ran a defrag. The problem is still on going today.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi'll start from the beginning. Today i accidentally clicked a random add and managed to get AV security suite downloaded into my comp, Very annoying program. So it blocked me out of all my settings and did the normal thing rogue spy-wares do. So i restarted and quickly ran msconfig and went into safe mode. I don't really know much about safe mode so i opted to do a system restore. I did it for 5 days ago, the 22nd and when i restarted. I had no audio device recognized and explorer wont stop crashing. As im typing this explorer has perma crashed and im deathly afraid of what i should do. Please help :[ I really depend on this comp for a lot of stuff and would hate to have something so stupid as a spy-ware destroy it.

When i did that, the pc was telling me it was updating, then it went tot the blue "windows is shutting down" screen Well, it stayed like that for about 20 minutes, so I thought it may have froze (it's done this before when i wasnt updating, just shutting down) When I went to turn it back on, i got the black screen with the white text that said "We are sorry for the inconvieniece, windows did not start successfully"
View 14 Replies View RelatedI recently had my computer reformatted. Unfortunately, it still has some issues. The first problem that popped up was that my computer "froze" after I clicked to print a Word doc. The screen turned blue (of course, my first thought was I had the blue screen of death), and I couldn't do anything with it, other than a hard shut down. It came back up fine and worked "okay" the rest of the day, although somewhat sluggishly. The next day, I tried opening a Word doc. and the screen turned purple and again a freeze. Hard shut down again, and things worked "okay" the rest of the day.
The next day, I was opening something (can't remember now if it was a Word doc.), the screen blinked and turned the color of our home page, which is a sort of rust. I called our tech person, described the issues, and he suggested that I had a problem with Dreamweaver 8. I uninstalled it, as per his suggestions, and reinstalled it. Things seemed to be working fine, but I now get this error:

Error in TSafeMailItem - MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED. I'm wondering if it could be an issue with Spam Fighter, which I downloaded as per the tech guy's instructions. I didn't get the error message until after reinstalling DW, then checked my email. I do NOT open spam, and the sites I usually go to are safe. I'm not saying I couldn't have gone some where that wasn't, but AVG hasn't found any issues, nor has Spybot.
My question is regarding the recovery console available on Compaq machines. Is there a similar program to the Compaq recovery console that allows for the home user to install and back up their systems in a nearly identical manner as to how to Compaq R.C. works?

On startup a box pops up and says that lass.exe has terminated unexpectedly and the system will be restarted in 60 seconds.It does this in normal mode and safe mode.I don't think there is any antivirus on the machine, as a brillant student uninstalled it because it was expired and she needed space for mp3s. Not good I know.This is a Dell Dimension 4500 with 128 meg of ram and WinXP home.
Okay, here is my story. Around early august, I built a new gaming rig pretty much all by myself. All the parts cost nearly $800. But another guy did a few things for me, and set up the BIOS.Anyway,I installed a bunch of drivers on some cd's I had, and it looked like I was good to go. Anyway, from then to now, I have been through BSoD heck, among other problems.
The USB's killed 2 of my flash drives,and an ipod.I don't know how, but it defidenntly isn't a coincidence all of those things died.Anyway,I get BSoD's in the most random times,it happens a while I start my pc up. I can barely play games like Bioshock because of this problem.the error message that usually pops up on the BSoD is DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
After I run "regedit" (instead of getting Registry) black command box pops up but it won't allow me to type in any commands at all.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a campaq notebook that runs windows xp, when I start up it does fine until I click into the user name. Once it gets to my screen the windows installer automatically pops up and tells me it is preparing to install photogallery which to the best of my knowledge I don't have. It atempts to install until a screen pops up that says omething about needing a cd to install. If you cancel out it tries it atleast 2 more times. It is really agrivating me as it takes almost ten minutes to get through all of this before I can do anything else. If someone could help I would be greatful. I already tried to unistall the program and it isn't there.
