After having the comp for a week or so (got it from a friend for cheap, in perfect condition) any time i try opening a program such as Word, the Open With screens pops up, and i have to find the program manually and open it. when try to open anything in the control panal, such as add/remove programs, an error pops up that reads:

Application not found
I am not on the PC that is having the problems. Here's the story - I turn on the PC, the first screen appears where I select a user.No matter what user I select it get "this application has failed to start because wininet.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem.
I click on ok several times and eventually get to a screen that only shows my wallpaper. I can get to the task manager window but nothing else. I called dell and spent 2 hours getting nowhere
This just started tonite. "The application has failed st start because netpwldryv.dll was not found. Reinstall may fix... I don't want to reinstall, lose to much, what else can I do?

when I try to load certain programs (ZipGenius, ExplorerXP & GOM player to mention just 3). I re-installed all 3 but I still get the problem. I also get the same error when try to run a lot of my system security/registry fix programs
I started getting an error message "Application has failed to start because Framedyn.dll was not found". I found a place on the internet where I could download DLL files. I downloaded the file and followed there instructions which were. Save file to the directory that is requesting the file. If that doesn't work save it to your system directory C:windowssystem32. I saved it in the system directory wasn't sure exactly which directory was requesting it. Reboot the computer. If the problem still occurs, try the following: Press start then Run, Type CDM and press enter, Type regsvr32 framedyn.dll and press enter. I did this and ow I am getting an error message

But another guy did a few things for me, and set up the BIOS.Anyway,I installed a bunch of drivers on some cd's I had, and it looked like I was good to go. Anyway, from then to now, I have been through BSoD heck, among other problems.
The USB's killed 2 of my flash drives,and an ipod.I don't know how, but it defidenntly isn't a coincidence all of those things died.Anyway,I get BSoD's in the most random times,it happens a while I start my pc up. I can barely play games like Bioshock because of this problem.the error message that usually pops up on the BSoD is DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
Whenever i restart my computer there a error popp in up about error 302(see the image)and im not really good with comp error and im afraid to touch anything on the hijack list.

I believe I selected a 'go ahead' button and left it to fix the problem. When I came back sometime later the computer was not reacting to anything so I reset. The screen that shows my hardware etc came up and windows then started, however, when the start up appeared to have progressed to the stage where the screen goes blank and an arrow eventually appears it didn't! It went back to the screen that shows the hardware build and kept cycling in that mode.

Im getting this message when trying to restart windows XP. i get it even when i try to enter into safe mode. If I click on either option it restarts the machine. I cant even get access to the safe mode of windows

View 9 Replies View RelatedGood morning, I have a couple of problems and I can't figure out how to get my computer back to where it used to be. I think it has something to do with updating windows. I get messages everytime I try to open a photo or a file. One message is Explorer EXE-Application Error, The instruction of ox600470a4 referenced memory at ox600470a4. The memory could not be written. Click on ok to terminate the program, click on cancel to debug the program. I clicked on debug and the program I got a message about Dr. Watson trying to communicate with ? and I clicked ok. Then the photo closed and all the icons disappeared and the reappeared. When I opened the same photo again, I got the following message. Data Execution Prevention-Microsoft Windows to help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program and also Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close, etc. Again the program shuts down. Basically, I can't open anything without the error messages. I can't copy cd's either as I have in the past with Nero. The program starts and then I get a read message or the cd just will not copy. Is there a way that I can do a restore and have my computer back to where it was 3 weeks ago? I could do that with my old computer Windows 98se. I have a HP Media M7060n now and I have XP home edition. Up to now I have had no problems. This computer is very different from my old one and I have no clue how I would do a restore. I just want a restore from 3 weeks ago, not a complete restore. I think the problem has to do with a windows update. I think I did one just before these problems occured. I lost my virus protection and had to reinstall it. I thought maybe that was the problem so I uninstalled it, but that wasn't it. So..here I am very frustrated. Then another windows opens and says this: Windows cannot access one or more required files. The files may have been renamed, deleated or moved. Try re-installing Works and then starting the program again.

Here is what he put:"Windows won't start up on my badly-infected WinXP PIV. It gets past the logging on to windows prompt and then this error message comes up userinit.exe application error (0xc0000005) and Windows then fails to load completely. This also occurs in safe mode and I haven't been able to bypass Windows and boot directly to DOS by using the F8 key on startup."
