Im extremely frustrated, computer keeps freezing not sure why. The freezing occurs randomly sometimes it occurs just after startup while other times i can play a game for a few hours before it freezes. Ive been in a repair shop a couple times and they havent solved the problem despite replacing the mother board and power supply. They also reformated the computer and still get the freezing problem. Also when it freezes i turn the power switch off on the back and then i get a noise from the speakers that sounds like someone tapping on a the desk. How can i discover the problem?
My computer recently began to freeze, about the time when I updated to Firefox 3.6. At first I thought it was just the internet that was messed up, but it began to freeze even though I wasn't using the internet. Randomly it would just freeze, sometimes after a few minutes others after a few seconds. I have to hit the power button because leaving it alone for a while won't work. I tried to clean the registry but it didn't work. I have a Windows XP, its a desktop computer, I have Intel, and its about 4 years old. if you need any more info please ask! I've had many problems with this computer but I can't afford to buy another one for another two years. Please help! I don't know what else to do.
I have caught a virus and my computer constantly freezes!! I have lost my windows XP CD but is there anyway I can delete everything but what came with windows?
My computer is restarting constantly. I tried sunning my virus software and it doesnt even work now. i tried and online scanner but it restarted when it started scanning. Now you guys are my last hope T-T.
My computer is so slow and constantly freezing...I constantly get a pop up warning about virtual minimum being too low, i went in and checked and the min was like 256 and the max was 5hundred something....I have scanned with avg, and housecall...nothing, I scanned with spybot, ad-aware, and Microsoft anti spyware...NOTHING...which i find it hard to believe im not accumulating any spyware but whatever... so 9i upgraded to high speed...No difference whatsoever... I am ready to throw this thing out the window... I was thinking of reformatting, but my mom sent me here instead....
I went out of town for 2 weeks, came home and my pc is acting really strange. I've been getting tons of pop-ups, to the point my computer freezes and i must restart. Not only that but it randomly reboots itself even when not being used. Also, when i go to delete files now, the file does NOT go into the recycle bin. I looked at the settings and there is no check mark next to the "do not move files into recycle bin". My BF said he had been downloading things so I figured maybe its a virus or something. I ran Nortons... nothing. Ran AVG... nothing. A friend told me it sounded like spyware so he told me to run Adaware & Spybot. Did that, found a ton of stuff. But when i retarted the pc, it wanted to start in "safe mode". I noticed that most of these pop ups are (search miracle ??) Found info that its a trojan, but i dont know. . I dont know what to do, totally computer illiterate.
computer running slow - cpu usage at 100% My computer has been lagging something terrible, to the point I am rebooting frequently because I freeze. It shows my that my CPU usage is at 100% and I havent done anything to have warranted this. Yesterday ran program called Advanced systemcare and seemed to clear up for while only to have it begin to bog down a few hours later.
My computer fan constantly runs. It's an HP Pavilion dv5220us Laptop. It will go off sometimes, but only for a minute or so, then it kicks back on. It will go on when I'm not even using it and when it's not doing anything (like a virus scan or something).
about an hour ago, i reformatted my computer and now it freezes constantly. It usually freezes on startup. I have Norotn Anti-Virus installed and all of the latest Windows updates.
there can anyone help me please,i have been having a lot of crashes latley on my p.c getting the blue screen saying dumping hardware to disk with files numbers.
My computer has worked very well for years, but a short while ago it has developed this problem. It will freeze at anytime using any software (or none at all) while in normal mode. I ran all the usual checks and balances; virus, spyware, updates, etc. Also, I have researched the issue in this forum and followed the great advise. I have also run tests on the drives, memory, etc. but they all pass. Next, I cloned a new drive, thinking that the old one may be failing (needed a larger HD anyway), but the same problem persisted.
I have a 2004 Toshiba Satellite w/Celeron processor, M35X-S149, with Windows XP. A few days ago it started having this problem where the entire screen freezes up and I have to turn the computer off and restart. It freezes anywhere from 2 minutes to 4 hours into a session, but it freezes up every time. I don't know if this is related, but every time I restart, I get a message window from an application called Button Manager v1.83, that says: "No INITIO External Storage Device Found" and it has two buttons to click on, either : LED ON or LED OFF. I ran a virus scan, and an adaware scan, but it didn't help. My husband wants to throw out the computer and buy a new one, but there must be a way to fix this. Is it a virus
Every time I start to do something my computer freezes. I installed "dream day" and 20 min. into it my computer froze, but before I even did this when I'm am playing itunes, my system just reboots right in the middle.using xp

Don't know why. But it does it enough for me to want to go back to Win2000. This is the first time I have used XP Home and so far I am not too impressed. When my computer freezes up to the point I have to reset it to clear it. What can I do to diagnose this issue?
I got some time and checked the available disk space. Out of 33MB I had 10MB left. I cleaned some stuff up and compressed the disk. Things worked well all day yesterday and then today we got this again.
I haven't been able to get the computer to start up now. I turn it off, and it hangs/freezes while it's starting back up. I did get it to load in safe mode,
I have an E-Machines with 512mb of ram and run Windows XP Pro. My computer seems to freeze when left on for more than 5-6 hours. I tried speaking with E-machines about this, but they just wanted me to buy a $100 extended service warranty. I have been looking at the event viewer, but the errors that pop up don't seem to correlate.
My computer freezes at least twice a day. Sometimes when i leave it on for quite some time, it freezes. At other times it just freezes while i'm doing some work. Just now the computer restarted by itself when i was running some programs (matlab, excel, bitcomet, zone alarm). I have to restart my computer manually everytime. I'm using Windows XP SP2, Zone Alarm Pro, BitComet, Prevx, McAfee. I've already checked my power option (hibernation disabled, never turn off monitor or hard disks and never standby).
All of a sudden my computer came to a screaching halt. It says in windows task manager that my cpu usage is at 100%.The image name using all the time is "system" The user name is "system" The cpu is 99
when I try to boot up my computer it just stops at the Windows welcome screen where it says 'Windows is starting up...'. The problem is Windows doesn't start up. I've managed to log on however, by going into safe mode and changing the way I log on by switching to the more classic method, but this is not the real answer I want
I am having serious computer issues! My desktop has been freezing a lot as of late. As in mouse freezes screen freezes, no task manager, manual restart. Well just as I was about to back it all up tonight. I am using windows media player and firefox and all of the sudden the computer starts to restart itself. Once it reboots it goes to the vaio screen where it freezes. I am actually used to this because it happens whenever I try and restart with my external hd attached. so I hard restart again, disconnect the external, and then it passes the vaio screen goes to the pentuim 4 screen, goes to a black screen with a little cursor that skips down a few bars, i hear the drive whirr up when it should load up to the windows xp loading screen, but then it stops and the screen goes blank. If i try and go into safe mode by pressing f8, it says please select boot device and gives me a choice.

Windows XP media center edition, 1 gb of ram, SP3My computer started to slow down a lot and would shut down out of nowhere, eventually it didn't turn on at all. The problem was the psu. I replaced it but problems persist. Computer boots normally I can log in but when I try to use a program it usually freezes. Firefox will open and I can surf the net for about ten minutes then it slows down drastically until it freezes. I notice in task manager that PF usage climbs high as firefox slows down. IE works normally but if I open another program winamp for example it freezes completely and makes one continuous beep. Hard drive activity will go on for minutes while nothing is running.none of this happened before the first psu started to die I think it did some damage but I don't know what.
My computer becomes very slow and freezes a lot to the point I have to turn if off and then turn it back on.I did run spybot, ad aware, Advance Care, and virus program but I still have the same problem.
i hope some one knows more about this, this has been really ticking me off lately. when i put in a dvd, or just a movie file, and play it, it plays fine, but it can lock up, my whole computer at total random, sometimes i can watch a whole dvd, sometimes it just locks up my comp the instant it starts playing.this started as soon as i had windows installed, i uninstalled everything that has to do with video codec's and media players, and just installed vlc player, and it still keeps on doing it.
I have a P4 2200Mhz desktop, running XP Pro, service pack 1. The computer was running fine last night but when I started it up this morning it comes to the windows login screen where my user name is already in, but when I try to put my password in the cursors freezes and I cant do anything. Then I have to do a hard restart. I tried starting it in safe mode but the same thing happens.
I 've a genuine retail xp running in two machines. One is pentium lll and another one is Core 2 Duo ...Both were running fine till yesterday ... The XP in C2D acts strange from today morning It freezes on shutdown ... All the every thing was fine ...I am sure there was no Virus (Using NOD32 Smart Security Suite) After many attempts to fix it. I lost my patience and decided to format C: drive and do a clean install ... I 've gone that way ...Now the fresh Installed xp also freezes on shutdown How's about this problem? Isit releated to hardware or software? Tried to fix by leaving the DVD drive empty & with a CD, Both didn't worked
