Yesterday all my ebay listings disappeared. cant find them anywhere. I have been listing for a number of years and this has never happened before? All listings had time left, days not hours. Ebay are no help atall. Any one out there got a solution.
View 7 RepliesThere is an article in this month's PC World "Fast Windows Fixes". The first of the fixes suggests that computer performance can be slowed because drivers for devices you no longer have are still being loaded. It provides a way to ensure that Device Manager also lists drivers for devices that are not currently connected, so I set it to do that.I found no device drivers loaded for anything not connected to my system, but DID find what appears to be a strange situation. Under Processors, my CPU is listed TWO times. The properties for both are identical. It looks like one should be deleted (I only have one CPU on the mobo, an Intel P4 Prescott running at 3.0GHz). But this is the MOTHER OF ALL DEVICES on a computer, so before I delete one of the entries, I want to check to see if it's supposed to have two entries. Can I delete one or should both be there?
I think this may have happened because about 10 days ago, I did a FULL reformat on my HD and reinstalled Windows and all 85 updates since the creation of my Windows CD. I also loaded drivers from other CD's that came with the PC, like my Marvell Ethernet card, Soundmax onboard audio, etc., AND the Asus CD containing the Intel 875/865 chipset drivers. I'm wondering if well before I loaded the latter, that Windows already loaded those drivers and the CD loaded them again. BTW, the driver dates in each entry for the CPU in Device Manager is 4/1/04.
Until recently there were a large number of Windows operating systems for sale on ebay. Particularly Win XP Pro OEM versions at reasonable prices. I purchased one several months ago, and it came in a sealed package, with COA and that beautiful CD. I finally got around to installing it on a new build, activated like a champ. But when I went to download some security updates it went berserk...THIS IS COUNTERFEIT, blah, blah. So I mailed it off to MS WGA. Now there are very few OSs listed on ebay. Could someone fill me in on what happened, and did MS make good on their offer to replace the fraudulent system with a good one? Also, how come it activated if it was counterfeit?

Moving from one page to another in "My Ebay", trying to place a bid, trying to see my items foe sale, etc.I tried to activate cookies or to reduce level of protection/security.

I went onto Crucial Technology's website, and it said I needed a:512MB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR PC3200 memory module, Can someone direct me to what would be compatible on eBay or Newegg.com because i have no idea of what I should buy. Would any 200-pin memory card work? And do I really need to spend the extra money on a 1 GB, or will a 512 be good?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a six year old dell. old installation of Windows XP is damaged beyond repair so I will have to reinstall it.I have the dell serial number, service tag number, and most of the other relevant information. I even have the original Windows XP license key number printed on a label on the side of my computer.the one thing that I do not have is the Windows XP installation disk.What is the best way to resolve this?I have seen XP disks for sale on ebay craigslist. Can I purchase one of those and install it on my old computer? If I do that should I get a new license key from them or do I use my old one.
View 7 Replies View RelatedTask Manager "Processes" tab shows "svchost.exe" appearing 7 times. Most memory usage is in the 3-6,000K range but one is 25,000K. My downloads have been a bit slower lately, but I can't say I've had any dramatically obvious problems. Your "Search" feature turned up 14 pages of threads dealing with this subject. This is too daunting a research project for me. I"m using Windows XP Pro SP2. Do 7 listings of svchost.exe seem excessive?

Obviously I've installed Windows 2000. I came across this ebay item. What do you guys think? Is this any good? If so, will the restore option install Windows XP instead of the Window 2000 that I currently have running?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a program from Ebay and after installing it I noticed it didn't have a uninstall. I used my add & remove program to uninstall the program but not all of it got uninstalled. I deleted the folder and then did a search in my registry for anything with refernce to the programs name "Ebay's Blackthorne" and deleted all entries with that name.Every time I reboot windows tries to install something for Blackthorne and I have to keep cancelling it out.
View 11 Replies View RelatedMy wallpaper has disappeared even though it appears under display properities-themes. Under the desktop tab my wallpaper is set correctly. When I try to change the theme from modified theme to windows classic the change is not accepted. My screensaver was the picture slideshow and is now windows xp moves across the screen as the screensaver. When I try to change it back the change is not accepted.
This all started because I am trying to back up my computer to an external hard drive and keep getting error message "windows delay write failed". I tried updating the hard disk driver but there wasn't any update. While searching for fixes for that problem, I came across Panda Software online virus checker. I used it and it deleted a few viruses. They were all old, some may have only been unopened email attachments and they were all from 2001 and 2002. Two days later, I was using logmein - remote access and while rebooting (not the first reboot) I got the blue screen. Here's the error message.

So I looked up vsdatant.sys which is located in system32 directory, and I changed the name of the driver to vsdatant.old but then my zonealarm stopped working so I changed it back.
How do I get my display working properly? Any ideas on the "write failed" error message?
I have burned some photos onto a CD -R and have gone back into the cd drive but they are missing!! where have they gone. The photos were definitely burned on. I thought that once on a cd nothing could be lost.

More often than not, when she tries to connect she is asked for her password ( we have tried clicking remember password!) but then is told it is not recognised. After several tries worth of helpline phone calls they take her thru the whole setting up procedure again & she is connected.
A few days later the same thing happens again!
Is this a money making ploy by Tiscali? Or is there something ( virus?) that could be causing the password to become unrecognised?
i forgot the password to the only account on the computer and I need to know how to get around it.
i have lost Windows password. I don't know which version of Windows he has. Can anyone give me advise as to how he can access Windows again and then begin with a new password?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new Toshiba notebook running windows XP Home SP2. I set it up with two account users. I eliminated the welcome screen so that the primary user will be logged on automatically on power on. This turned out to be not a good idea because the primary user must be logged on before the secondary user can log on and I can't get the welcome screen back. I have it checked in both user accounts as well as fast user switching. I don't remember how I eliminated it in the first place so I can't remember how to get it back. Any suggestions?

I've done plenty of research and found all the hot fixes and MS support articles, one catch...... They are all for x86 while I'm running' a 64x system. I want my hibernation back! Give me hibernation or give me death...well maybe not death but I'm considering downgrading back to 1GB just to get it back.

Now, the problem I am mainly having is after I download them to a CD to put in her system, either I cannot unzip them because I don't have Express Zip or when I place them in the correct folder (going by online instruction) either I get another error message or it says being used by windows somewhere else. View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm kinda new to XP seeing that i'm a mac user only but my parents bought a PC with XP so i'm stuck using it sometimes, well my problem is all of a sudden i go to use the computer and the computer can';t find either of the CD ROMS, the DVD-RW or the CD-ROm, I went into device manager and it has the "!" beside both, so i reinstalled the drivers for both and got something to the effect of "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)", i've tried every trick i know but like i said i'm not good with windows, so any advice is much appricated, THe dvd-rw is an Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-104 and the other is ASUS CD-S400/A.

I inadvertantly "dragged" that folder to the left of the tree -- and now that whole huge folder has disappeared. It is not in the recycle bin, and I have even searched the drive with wdws "find files."
