In the image :Why is that? how to solve it ,the store doesn't work? It disappears with fresh install! Does taking ownership of some system files result in store failure?
Towards the end of last week certain apps stopped opening such as mail, news, calendar and store. I reinstalled windows 8 and all the apps that weren't working started working apart from store and apps bought from the store. When I click on the app store it just shows the loading screen then closes and doesn't provide any errors. I've tried several things already such as removing avast, checked screen resolution, running windows app store troubleshooter and I have installed all windows updates. I'm unable to do a refresh as when I try to it says some files are missing, your copy will provide these files and I put the disk in and it just says invalid media.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm in the middle of a struggle with blank screen issue, possibly corrupted exlorer.exe file (won't run). Wanted to try update from 8-8.1 but the Windows Store won't show up with the blank screen issue. Any thoughts on resolutions? I've done several malware, adware scans and antivirus scans. Everything comes back clear. Also, tried adding a new user acct, but get an error message and can't add. Thought the update might replace the needed files. SFC scan return non-fixable errors.
View 3 Replies View Related! Obviously many users can NOT access the Windows Store, let beside no other 'App' starts, not 'Finance', not 'Weather', nothing. The best one can expect is to not break the system completely. Do not try any of this, it does not work. The problem lies much deeper and is not fixable by registry editing, dll-register, new user account, fonts,...
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got windows 8.1 with the yesterdays update but the problem comes before this update.
Wen I open the Windows Shop, it always on the green screen and does not advance. I've done the following steps:
1 - I did WSReset.exe as administrator but the store is always like this. If you close and re-open the store, I get the same green screen;
2 - I downloaded the tool Windows 8 App Troubleshooter which tells me that I have an outdated graphics driver. Is not true because I have installed the latest version.
3 - UAC is turned on but without success;
4 - I've turned my account as a local account and tried to open the shop but with the same result. I've reverted my account as linked to Microsoft.
5 - I created a new user account and with that account the store opens. I returned to my account and nothing.
6 - Finally I ran the SFC / SCANNOW and gave me this picture.
I just built a secondary new work computer. Unlike my main rig which I just do a fresh install of 8.1. On this one I put Win 7 then Win 8 pro upgrade, once that's done I upgrade to 8.1 through store. thing is once I upgrade to 8.1 I notice pc settings and store wont open, if I click on them they flash and just return to desktop.
I found this solution here:
All Modern apps fail to start after Windows 8.1 upgrade - Microsoft Community
But it only seems to work on admin account.
I noticed same thing is happening with regular user account and the above fix does not work, in fact when I try and set permissions to system in registry step it mentions I get "Unable to set new owner on packages, access is denied"
Problem I'm having with windows 8.1.1 .... When I'm using Firefox or Chrome and visiting for example [URL] .....

I have a new XPS8700. I have been unable to download the Windows 8.1 upgrade from the MS Store. My first problem was a lack of Windows updates, which I did, and now I can see the 8.1 upgrade in the store. I can also download updates to other aps.
My remaining problem is a continual notice every time I hit download that I need to first log into an account with admin access. Best I can tell, this and other forums have shown me how to add Admin capability with the Command prompt. I even created a second account and did the same thing. Within the User Summary screen within control panel, both Users show "administrator". Yet I still cannot get access
I have tried "net user administrator /active:yes" as well as tried same with swapping my name for administrator
The actual "administrator" user cannot do anything within the App Store. That appears to be what is supposed to happen.
I'm another user with the same situation, it did not work, the direct download stated, does not work with this system.
After updating to Win 8.1 RTM the Store App doesn't work anymore. Everything else runs fine. After opening the Store App it takes only one or two seconds and the screen get's back to where it was before. The app is still opened, but does the same as soon as it's activated again. Is there a way to reinstall the Store App?

View 5 Replies View RelatedAttempted to update to 8.1 yesterday and the store just won't open. Every time I click on the Store tile it doesn't get past the green introductory screen before just disappearing (crashing).. Have restarted several times and used the link-through on the Windows 8.1 site. Also, I have since discovered that all apps won't open either (such as news and sports).

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 8.1 Pro. No hacks or anything, legit key.
My problem is that the Store shows that the Music and Video apps both have updates but they both error out on install with 0x80073cf1 and 0x80246007 errors respectively.
Trying to fix it I have tried the following:sfc /scannow finds nothing wrongDISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth tells me "The restore operation completed successfully. The component store corruption was repaired. The operation completed successfully."And running Troubleshooting from the Control Panel on the Windows Update option quickly results in a "Windows Update components must be repaired" and "Fixed" with a friendly green checkmark. But the errors remain whenever I try again.
Upgraded to Windows 8.1 via the Windows Store. Now I can't open the store at all.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI purchased a Inspiron 17 7737 directly from [URL] on 12/5/2013. It was delivered on 12/182013. It had Windows 8 as the operating system. I had assumed that it would have the latest version of Windows when it arrived since 8.1 had been issued in October. I opened the Store app and the upgrade to Windows 8.1 was not available to me. I understood that this was a problem for others and did not pursue it further at that time. I was out of town for 2 weeks in January and did not use the laptop during that 2 week period. When I returned, I opened the Store and found prominently placed the invitation to the free upgrade to 8.1. I was signed in using the Administrator account and when I hit the download button for 8.1. I was given the message "You need to use an account with Administrator privileges to install Windows 8.1, try logging in with the user account of an administrator of this PC and try update again".
I verified that my account had Administrator privileges and tried again and got the same message. I created another user account and gave it administrator privileges and tried the download again signed in on that account and got the same message. I called technical support and for over 5 hours over 2 different days, the technician attempted to resolve the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling Windows updates. When that failed to resolve the problem, he "refreshed" my PC which, I understood put it back to the status it was in at time of delivery. He then had to do all the Windows updates (approximately 65) and tried to download 8.1 again.
This did not change the error message when trying to download to 8.1. At that point, I was told that they were elevating it to a technical team who would research all the logs from my machine and come up with a solution. They indicated that they would call me back when a solution is found. Although my Administrator account was not recognized when attempting to do the 8.1 download, it recognized the Administrator role when the technician needed administrative approval to do all the uninstall and reinstall activities when trying to resolve the issue.
I am trying to update my system to the new Windows 8. I am already operating on the old one, so the update should be free. My computer will not load the store to allow me to update my software.
View 2 Replies View Relatedbig problem for everyone who uses an SSD for the sytem drive and used audit mode to relocate Users to another drive. Is there a GA iso available yet?n Or a way to burn an iso from what we've downloaded from the MS Store?
This seems like a pretty glaring oversight now that MS is pushing to get rid of optical media. Things fail, often catastrophically (esp Windows).
Windows 8.1 with Excel 2007. On one PC is it ok but not on another PC:
*a file with xls or xlsx suffix doesn't open as the exe-file of Excel is not found.
*Excel on it self is starting up and after opening the dedicated xls-suffix the file is visible
In configuration / program's /file type linking with xls to the Excel program isn't seen
The doc-suffix is correctly linked to Word 2007...
I have a long standing Live account, and my computer has been set as a trusted device. when I upgraded to Windows 8 I was thrilled to be able to purchase apps for my computer and have many photo apps and art apps. I upgraded to 8.1 and now I can not log in to the store at all. I go through the process and at the last stop I get a screen telling me that there is another account on this PC using that account. I know this, it is me, on my account! I need to purchase something and i can not. I am afraid to even try and run something because I do not want to get locked out of my already purchased apps.
View 9 Replies View RelatedYesterday my HP sleekbook arrived (cheaper amd version) with windows 8. Everything works fine except that I can't open the store or pc settings. When I click on the store tile, or click on the more settings button, the fullscreen (green for store, blue for settings) icon fills the screen en then dissapears.
I have tried the sfc / scannow option but this did not work after 3 trials. Reset or Refresh also isn't an option because I can't enter the settings and thus won't be able to perform these actions.
I bought a new notebook with Windows 8 and upgrade to 8.1, and i also install a new Windows 8.1 in a new computer 3 days ago... and both of my Windows don't open the apps on the first screen.. like Skype, email, windows store....
The apps almost start, show the program name on the screen them close.. The problem is that is happening on both computers....
Likes to use the Windows 8 Start Screen that has all the tiles on it. Normally, she clicks on the "Mail" icon to get to her email, but now when she clicks on the icon it doesn't go to her email and instead it goes straight to her desktop. I tried clicking another icon; the "weather" one, and it too goes to the desktop. She told me she downloaded a couple games from iWin a few days ago and I noticed a new toolbar in her browser so I tried disabling that, but no change. I've checked what the default browser is, Internet Explorer (what she normally uses). I also tried making Chrome the default browser but still no change.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem of mass scale. My Windows 8.1 Store refuses to load. Whatever I do, it doesn't start up. I had to get to an app with compatibility problems and get to the store in that way, but also that doesn't work anymore.
Other than the one putting a big line in the cmd (one of the first & only real solution I could find).
I upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate x64 to Windows 8 Pro x64 and then to 8.1 (too many installed programs for a clean install)
Now, when I right click a shortcut and do "Open" or "run as administrator" it does nothing. If I double click it, it works fine. Also, if I try to open a cmd from the bottom left context menu it also doesn't work. I've no problems though to do "open" or "run as administrator" on the actual executable files, the problem is the shortcuts. Obviously there's something in the registry that needs fixing, but I've no idea what. I've tried all the usuals, sfc scanning, ccleaner, etc, but no luck. I tried with shellexview to check what is registered where in the context menu, but I didn't find that very useful either. The same happens in safe mode too.
EDIT:I did assoc .lnk at cmd and returned "lnkfle" and then I did ftype lnkfile and returned that nothing is associated with this. Dunno if that's how it should be in 8, but that's the same winxp returns.
I upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8 pro and internet explore will not open at all from any icon or area. I read where someone removed Logitech web cam to fix the issue, but I do not have that.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI really like windows 8 and stuff, but ive been having problems with windows 7 so i decided to install windows 8.1 and never look back, but it appears that ive had an issue for the first time ever with windows 8.x
So I was trying to make this game called blacklight retribution run on windows 8 (it crashes for some reason)
And at some point i was installing some radio apps for the metro interface and trying to play the game at the same time (my PC is pretty weak -3.1ghz AMD processor, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd and a radeon 3300 hd integrated graphics card)
So my windows 8.1 (with the latest updates) crashed with the all-cool-new-bluescreen-of-death and after that my windows store app renders its content as if its broken, here's what it looks like:
I restarted windows numerous times, but the windows store app still appears to be "broken" but other apps seem to work as they should.
I am new to windows 8 and I couldn't find a way to restore windows to an earlier point, I know a very straightforward way - reinstall windows 8.1.
Ever since upgrading to 8.1 I am unable to use the mail app, the store app and most metro apps. when I open one of them the immediately get stuck and eventually crash. Another issue I found is that the brightness adjuster wont work no more.
