I am trying to update my system to the new Windows 8. I am already operating on the old one, so the update should be free. My computer will not load the store to allow me to update my software.

Recently I upgraded my wife's Dell All In One from Windows 8 to 8.1 by going to Microsoft Store and selecting the upgrade panel for 8.1. It went smoothly even if slowly. I then tried doing the same thing for my Asus Q200E Laptop.
When I went to the store all I saw were apps for ASUS. How can I get to the real Microsoft Store to get the 8.1 upgrade?
I just recently bought asus notebook x550C i3 processor,had been working fine for a week. Then lost connection to Internet went to update and restart as updates were needing to be done. After appearing to complete the updates, it then said failure configuring updates, reverting changes do not turn off. It has now been on this screen for 3 hours. I have tried shutting down but when re opens it lands back on same page, with the loop going round and round. I have tried f9, as another forum said that should get me to menu to restore factory settings but that does not work, neither does windows key

Wen I open the Windows Shop, it always on the green screen and does not advance. I've done the following steps:
1 - I did WSReset.exe as administrator but the store is always like this. If you close and re-open the store, I get the same green screen;
2 - I downloaded the tool Windows 8 App Troubleshooter which tells me that I have an outdated graphics driver. Is not true because I have installed the latest version.
3 - UAC is turned on but without success;
4 - I've turned my account as a local account and tried to open the shop but with the same result. I've reverted my account as linked to Microsoft.
5 - I created a new user account and with that account the store opens. I returned to my account and nothing.
6 - Finally I ran the SFC / SCANNOW and gave me this picture.
I've been having problems with my laptop recently. I actually care less when it comes to updates since it's automatic, but I noticed that it refuses to install any drivers (which means I cannot access any USB drives or install programs that requites drivers) or updates, after searching for solutions on the internet, I found out in a website that said kb2919355 causes component store corruption that is irreparable, which is the update that I have already installed. I've tried repairing with DISM but it all fails, probably because the update causes the component store to corrupt when StartComponentCleanup is triggered.
I want this to be fixed but my restore point is already deleted since it's probably too old (which is weird that I'm having this problem since the update has been installed for months). I don't want to reinstall my Windows either, so what now?
Attempted to update to 8.1 yesterday and the store just won't open. Every time I click on the Store tile it doesn't get past the green introductory screen before just disappearing (crashing).. Have restarted several times and used the link-through on the Windows 8.1 site. Also, I have since discovered that all apps won't open either (such as news and sports).

Sometimes the update prompt disappears even though it was not installed. Today it prompted me to install an update called "Qualcomm Atheros Communications driver update for Bluetooth Module" and failed.
Error code 80070103.
I got my new tablet today and am having no issues with anything except the Store. It takes forever to open but it shows that I have 26 apps needing updates. I clicked on a random app and clicked on install and it just shows pending on my screen. I'm surfing the web, downloading windows updates, etc...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just purchased this Laptop yesterday, was installing programs and updates. The updates finished installing, asked me to restart the PC which I didn't do right away because I was installing programs. One of the programs asked me to reboot into safe mode so I did. When the PC rebooted, it said the updates were installed 100% but then says SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF "Updates failed...reverting changes". This loop as been going on for hours now.
I have had success in getting into the BIOS by pressing F12 upon startup. I tried changing the boot order to boot from my bootable startup repair DVD but it didn't work!
I am tired of having to repair Windows updates then get to install one or two then have to go through the whole process again.
Is there a site where updates can be downloaded according to their KB numbers then installed manually?
Windows Update says it's Downloading Updates. It has said that more than 30 minutes ago. And it's still 0 KB total, 0% complete.

Because it's been sitting on a store shelf i'm sure there are Win. updates required ..not familiar how to find 'that' section inorder to do the updates ! Towards the end of last week certain apps stopped opening such as mail,news,calendar and store. I reinstalled windows 8 and all the apps that weren't working started working apart from store and apps bought from the store. When I click on the app store it just shows the loading screen then closes and doesn't provide any errors. I've tried several things already such as removing avast,checked screen resolution, running windows app store troubleshooter and I have installed all windows updates. I'm unable to do a refresh as when I try to it says some files are missing, your copy will provide these files and I put the disk in and it just says invalid media.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an Asus GAC computer with Windows 8 OEM version. When I go to Windows store I see the 8.1 upgrade notification. When I click on it I get a message asking me to do all the upadates. When I do all the updates, the Store notification disappears.
I have to uninstall some updates to have the notification back on the Windows store but still asking me to do all the available updates.
My Windows 8 version is fully activated 'ASUS OEM)
I'm running Windows 8 at the moment and I am trying to get 8.1 installed.
I go into the Windows Store......and I get no option at all to download and install 8.1. Windows updates are on, not sure if that even matters though. Windows Store is just not giving me any option to install it, or even tell me that its available to download.
Now, I'm in the UK, but as I understood it, Microsoft's release of 8.1 was global. I have also done several reboots of the PC, no change.
I have had to system restore 3 or 4 times in the last week or so as Windows 8 refuses to boot after installing the latest updates discovered from the last couple of weeks (though some are from December 2012)
I have unchecked all the current updates and have decided against installing them as they seem to be preventing Windows from booting.
Pattern - "Restart to install updates"
Restart locks on the start screen - Restart again and locks again (repeat this process 3x)
"Windows is automatically repairing..." - Fails
"Windows must restore settings to a previous time..." - Usually succeeds, sometimes fails.
Then I can get back into Windows.
As soon as I install these updates, I won't get back into Windows until I system restore since before the updates and my build won't remain stable unless I prevent Windows from installing these updates.What could be going on?
They are quite big updates (totalling ~740mb and have all been discovered in the last week or so though some date back to late last year)
I'm in the middle of a struggle with blank screen issue, possibly corrupted exlorer.exe file (won't run). Wanted to try update from 8-8.1 but the Windows Store won't show up with the blank screen issue. Any thoughts on resolutions? I've done several malware, adware scans and antivirus scans. Everything comes back clear. Also, tried adding a new user acct, but get an error message and can't add. Thought the update might replace the needed files. SFC scan return non-fixable errors.

On this one I put Win 7 then Win 8 pro upgrade, once that's done I upgrade to 8.1 through store. thing is once I upgrade to 8.1 I notice pc settings and store wont open, if I click on them they flash and just return to desktop.

I noticed same thing is happening with regular user account and the above fix does not work, in fact when I try and set permissions to system in registry step it mentions I get "Unable to set new owner on packages, access is denied"

Okay, this is for a Asus G46VW with Windows 8,
I saw that there were updates to be installed and I had to restart my computer, so I did that, and when it turned back on, I got the error message 'your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart. We are just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you'and it stayed there for less than a second and went straight to a black screen where it doesn't do anything and basically forces me to manually press the power button to shut it down. It has been doing this in a loop for 5+ times, and I don't know what to do.
This is a laptop and I do not have a Windows 8 installation disk. I have tried looking at every other thread from every place I could find and could not find one that didn't talk about using an installation disk, something I don't have!
I recently updated to a HP laptop with windows 8 and downloaded iTunes and transferred my music over which I can open and play, however when I try to go the iTunes store I get "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I never get any notification and I can't work out the problem, I have uninstalled and re-installed and still have the same issue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have (also according to Windows Control Panel > Installed Updates) successfully installed KB2919355 on 13th Apr 2014. So to me, the KB2919355 is in place (and various KB installations after that, too) <- I do get all the Windows System updates (including security updates) BUT not Windows Store application updates.
So the problem is the "Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070490" which pops into Windows Event log on daily basis.
TEMPORARILY fix: running Windows update troubleshooter fixes the problem (it stops and restarts BITS and Cryptographic services) and after a while I get a notification to the Windows Store Tile that there are new updates (if any). BUT after rebooting Windows the problem (Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070490) always re-appears in the Event logs.
Here is the report of successful Windows update troubleshooter.
Also:
1) running DISM does not work (see below)
2) Going to Store settings and "Sync licenses" does not work

I have had this Windows 8 64 bit laptop for 6 weeks now and I wish I had never bought it. Recently I have found that I am unable to update apps in Store or even to download new apps. I have read the responses from other members to previous requests on this subject and I have applied the 'fixes' they recommend but the problem is still there.

I do NOT want to update through the Windows Store.
I was under the assumption that I would run the update disc, enter my product key and it would update my 8.0 to 8.1 automatically. Pop in my legit product key and it said it was for "another edition of windows" and to "try another key."
How can I update through the 8.1 with update disc I just burned?
Upgraded to Windows 8.1 via the Windows Store. Now I can't open the store at all.
