I'm having a little issue with my Screen Setup and I was wondering if there's a fix to that.
I recently upgraded from to Photoshop CC after seeing a YouTube Video with someone working on the same Wacom Cintiq 24HD Touch I have using the newly introduced Experimental Touch features of PS CC.
Turns out it didn't worked THAT well on mine.
Panning, Zooming and Rotation in PS CC is totally screwed like the axis of them being totally off or outside my Screen and thus causing my Workspace to vanish off screen which is REALLY annoying.
Working with the Issue for a while I noticed that the issue could be related to me using multiple Monitors unlike the Video which only used one and the Cintiq with the Touch Interface NOT being either the center or rather the Main Monitor of the Setup.
Having the Cintiq not as the Main Monitor causes Photoshop CC to relocate the Rotational, Zoom and Move Axis to the Main Monitor and thus cause this agonizing behavior.With the Cintiq now set as the Main Monitor every Metro App I use ( including the Start Screen ) opens out of my normal Field of View.Is there a setting that allows me to keep the Cintiq ( 2 ) to be the Main Monitor because of Photoshop while having Metro Apps open by default on the Center Monitor ( 1 ) ?
I do know that hitting the Windows button in the Task bar will open the Start Screen on the screen it was hit and all Metro Apps opened from there will also open on the now active screen but working like this is kind of cumbersome as I prefer to use a Mouse button ( or the Keyboard Windows Key ) with the Windows Key assigned and there it just doesn't work like I want.
I'm trying to keep the windows 8 start screen open on one screen and have the other open to the desktop, but any time I click an app on the desktop the 2nd screen with the Windows 8 start screen minimizes. Is there any way to change this behavior?
View 3 Replies View RelatedEver since the latest 8.1 patch/update in April win store launches automatically every time I start or restart my PC even though I have launch to desktop by default. I have made sure there are no pending store app updates and I have tried every setting possible but can't stop that app from launching. I don't have any windows mods installed.
I even tried the registry setting provided from this site (Store - Enable or Disable in Windows 8) but the app still launched giving me the message that the "Store isn't available on this computer".
I have looked in task scheduler, but I don't really know what to look for (looks like if i'm idle for 20-30 seconds after start the store launches). Same goes for the event viewer, there is just too much to sift through and again I really don't know what to look for. In services the "WSService" is stopped.
How to stop that app from launching, I have a local account.
Every now and then as I use the computer, all windows disappear and only the desktop is showing. I know this is supposed to be useful somehow, I find it incredibly irritating and want to turn it off. I think it's got some gimmicky name, but I can't recall it right now. what I am talking about, and how to turn it off....
View 4 Replies View RelatedTowards the end of last week certain apps stopped opening such as mail,news,calendar and store. I reinstalled windows 8 and all the apps that weren't working started working apart from store and apps bought from the store. When I click on the app store it just shows the loading screen then closes and doesn't provide any errors. I've tried several things already such as removing avast,checked screen resolution, running windows app store troubleshooter and I have installed all windows updates. I'm unable to do a refresh as when I try to it says some files are missing, your copy will provide these files and I put the disk in and it just says invalid media.

I have already followed most the steps on this tutorial, running the troubleshooter many times and restarting after each time.

Here is a screenshot of what happens everytime. I don't know if its clear, but essentially this weird thing happens where it doesn't load, and right off the start the splash icon, if you will, and its little circle loading animation all shift to the top left of the screen, just forever.
My Windows 8 is completely genuine so that's not the problem; when I first bought the computer, it came with Win 8 and the store worked fine. All of a sudden, the Skype app would load but be blank, and all the apps started doing this. I don't know what happened that caused this all.
EDIT: The screen shot was taken, uploaded to paint, and cropped to fit better, so the resolution shown in the picutre caption is not my computer resolution. My native computer resolution is 1366X768.
I have 2 monitors and am wondering if there is some way to make it so that when I bring up the new metro start menu on my 2nd monitor that I can make it stick there?
As it is now, if I open the new menu on my 2nd monitor and then go back to what ever program that I have open on my first monitor (like chrome or I.E. etc) then the start menu will close from my 2nd monitor.
I'd like to make it where it stays open on my 2nd monitor. Is this somehow possible?
I'm in the middle of a struggle with blank screen issue, possibly corrupted exlorer.exe file (won't run). Wanted to try update from 8-8.1 but the Windows Store won't show up with the blank screen issue. Any thoughts on resolutions? I've done several malware, adware scans and antivirus scans. Everything comes back clear. Also, tried adding a new user acct, but get an error message and can't add. Thought the update might replace the needed files. SFC scan return non-fixable errors.

I've got windows 8.1 with the yesterdays update but the problem comes before this update.
Wen I open the Windows Shop, it always on the green screen and does not advance. I've done the following steps:
1 - I did WSReset.exe as administrator but the store is always like this. If you close and re-open the store, I get the same green screen;
2 - I downloaded the tool Windows 8 App Troubleshooter which tells me that I have an outdated graphics driver. Is not true because I have installed the latest version.
3 - UAC is turned on but without success;
4 - I've turned my account as a local account and tried to open the shop but with the same result. I've reverted my account as linked to Microsoft.
5 - I created a new user account and with that account the store opens. I returned to my account and nothing.
6 - Finally I ran the SFC / SCANNOW and gave me this picture.
I just built a secondary new work computer. Unlike my main rig which I just do a fresh install of 8.1. On this one I put Win 7 then Win 8 pro upgrade, once that's done I upgrade to 8.1 through store. thing is once I upgrade to 8.1 I notice pc settings and store wont open, if I click on them they flash and just return to desktop.

I noticed same thing is happening with regular user account and the above fix does not work, in fact when I try and set permissions to system in registry step it mentions I get "Unable to set new owner on packages, access is denied"
I just had to reformat my hard drive and when I did I went ahead and updated to windows 8.1. I have everything set back up the way I like but I can't get the start menu to always open on my secondary monitor. I can set it to open on whatever monitor I'm currently using, but I only want it to open on the one specific monitor that ISN'T my main display.
I've tried using windows key + shift + arrows and that moves the start menu to the right monitor, but only that time. When I reopen it, it just pops up on my main display.
I've tried clicking on the bottom left of the second monitor and opening the start menu, but when I hit the windows key again it opens it on the main monitor.
Attempted to update to 8.1 yesterday and the store just won't open. Every time I click on the Store tile it doesn't get past the green introductory screen before just disappearing (crashing).. Have restarted several times and used the link-through on the Windows 8.1 site. Also, I have since discovered that all apps won't open either (such as news and sports).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently updated to a HP laptop with windows 8 and downloaded iTunes and transferred my music over which I can open and play, however when I try to go the iTunes store I get "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I never get any notification and I can't work out the problem, I have uninstalled and re-installed and still have the same issue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had Win 8 on this computer since I bought it about a year ago (came stock). When I first got the computer I went to the Windows store and added some apps. At the time all of those apps I added worked properly. Then I just did not use any of them since really. So I don't know when Metro apps stopped working for me but it has been a while as I have noticed it when occasionally getting to that start screen and trying one out. Did not work and did not care at the time.
I have really only used the desktop mode this entire time.
I have the start button installed and have not had any trouble.
Today when I went to do the Win 8.1 update I was not able to do so as I could not get in to the store and also noticed that the Metro apps were not working. I would tap on one and nothing would happen. Most importantly was the store I was trying to open.
Still I can open any of the programs that I have installed on the desktop from their copies on the Metro screen but none of the programs that I installed from the store including the store itself work. When I click them nothing happens except for Explorer which shows up as a "Metro App" and works. The Store itself will flip open to a blank screen and then back to it's tile when I click it.
So none of the Metro apps work at all, not a huge deal but would be nice if it and the desktop programs did work.
I have read the troubleshooting information from Microsoft and it appears that either I am not doing something right or it is not working. For example when I run wsreset,exe I get an error message "Windows can not find 'ms-windows-store-PurgeCaches" I also signed up for a Microsoft account which was supposedly necessary for using the Microsoft store and while it now shows me as signed in on the Metro Start page it did nothing .
I really would not like to use the restore partition on my laptop to start fresh because I have some very expensive programs that I do not have the discs to reinstall and fear I would loose them. Sony Vegas 11 Pro and Photshop etc..
In the end I honestly do not like Win8 Metro and will probably continue to use it in desktop mode all the time. What prompted me to upgrade to 8.1 was mostly an alert that I only had a certain amount of time left to do the update and figured that I would go ahead and do so now.
While I have the start button on my account to use for the desktop mode it has disappeared from another person I let on as a user and this would add the start button for them by upgrading. Perhaps not a great reason to upgrade as I have not read in depth about any negatives to upgrading to Win 8.1. I guess that is another subject all together but I am concerned that the Metro part not working is just not my computer working optimally.
I did recently replace the 750Gig 5400RPM HDD with a Samsung 840 EVO SSD and the computer itself has been running much better. Boots up in a tiny fraction of the time it did before etc.. So I think I am getting as much performance I am going to get with this i3 processor and max 6 Gigs of RAM. But this Metro issue has been going on for a long time. I do have the option of having a clone of the installed drive by having the original drive available still in case that matters.
I'm using start8 and dual monitor setup in extended mode. Is there a way to keep the metro start menu up on 2nd monitor while have a browser or another program open on the 1st monitor.

How it opens now is what ever monitor I click on the program in, it opens it in that monitor. I understand the logic on that, but I was wondering if there was a way to make programs always open on a specific monitor. I.e. I always have outlook on my monitor clear to the left, visual studio in the middle, and my browser on the right. Is there a way to force those programs to always open on that monitor, regardless of which task bar I click on?

View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm running Windows 8 Home Premium.I'd like to increase my startup speeds, I already disabled as much as I can in Task Manager, msconfig, etc.In the Task Scheduler, it shows Metro Apps are taking CPU time at startup though. After much searching on the topic, I find very little about how to disable the Metro Apps from starting up. The main one I want to disable is "Mail, Calendar, People, and Messaging". I do not want to uninstall them, I just do not want them to do anything until I open them. It takes over 2 minutes of CPU time at startup for that one Metro App to fully load, and most of the time I never use it.
I have tried going into the Permissions of the App, and I disabled all of its Permissions to run in background of lock screen and everything. Still, it loads in Task Manager and takes CPU time.
As a Multi-Monitor user I'm currently plagues with 3 Problems concerning the Metro Style OnScreenKeyboard.
1. For most of the time it appears on the wrong Monitor - Not the one with touch capability thus forcing me to manually move it over to the right screen which, at best, is annoying.
It appears it's kind of bound to where the Start Screen currently resides but it would be a lot more useful if it could be tied to one screen.
2. On 2 of my Screens it takes up about - the screen space limiting their usefulness while on my other 2 about - which is more desireable - what triggers this behavior and how can I control it?
3. Is there an option to force the OSK to keep the last setting of which Keyboard I've used? It keeps reverting to the simple one when I'd like to use the Advanced one.
I started using a second monitor recently, and ran into an issue when opening a folder. When I try to open any folder both screens will flash grey and then go back to normal, but the folder won't open. If I try again then the folder will open with no grey flash. If I switch back to just one screen, the same thing will happen, along with all of my icons being rearranged.

View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday my HP sleekbook arrived (cheaper amd version) with windows 8. Everything works fine except that I can't open the store or pc settings. When I click on the store tile, or click on the more settings button, the fullscreen (green for store, blue for settings) icon fills the screen en then dissapears.
I have tried the sfc / scannow option but this did not work after 3 trials. Reset or Refresh also isn't an option because I can't enter the settings and thus won't be able to perform these actions.
I'm setting up a new Dell with W-8 Home. I'm trying to open the Group Policy to edit not asking for password when restoring from "Monitor" turned off. Already stopped it on logon. Attached is the message I get either from Run or the cmd prompt.
