I've got a problem of mass scale. My Windows 8.1 Store refuses to load. Whatever I do, it doesn't start up. I had to get to an app with compatibility problems and get to the store in that way, but also that doesn't work anymore.
Other than the one putting a big line in the cmd (one of the first & only real solution I could find).
when i right click on a JPG file i get open with then click choose default program at the bottom of the menu list.
and i get this
how do i remove the %1 i tried so many different things in regedit,
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerFileExts.jpgOpenWithList
and removed stuff from here to no avail.
how i can get rid of the %1 ?
! Obviously many users can NOT access the Windows Store, let beside no other 'App' starts, not 'Finance', not 'Weather', nothing. The best one can expect is to not break the system completely. View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got windows 8.1 with the yesterdays update but the problem comes before this update.
Wen I open the Windows Shop, it always on the green screen and does not advance. I've done the following steps:
1 - I did WSReset.exe as administrator but the store is always like this. If you close and re-open the store, I get the same green screen;
2 - I downloaded the tool Windows 8 App Troubleshooter which tells me that I have an outdated graphics driver. Is not true because I have installed the latest version.
3 - UAC is turned on but without success;
4 - I've turned my account as a local account and tried to open the shop but with the same result. I've reverted my account as linked to Microsoft.
5 - I created a new user account and with that account the store opens. I returned to my account and nothing.
6 - Finally I ran the SFC / SCANNOW and gave me this picture.
I just built a secondary new work computer. Unlike my main rig which I just do a fresh install of 8.1. On this one I put Win 7 then Win 8 pro upgrade, once that's done I upgrade to 8.1 through store. thing is once I upgrade to 8.1 I notice pc settings and store wont open, if I click on them they flash and just return to desktop.

But it only seems to work on admin account.
I noticed same thing is happening with regular user account and the above fix does not work, in fact when I try and set permissions to system in registry step it mentions I get "Unable to set new owner on packages, access is denied"

As of a few days ago, none of the apps in the "windows" menu will open. My Store also will not boot. It opens, animates, and closes. I've tried many solutions, none of which have worked. *Note*: My resolution has not changed. It is still 1366x768.
Solutions I've tried:
1. Changing resolution: fail
2. Running "sfc /scannow" in CMD in admin mode. Result: stops at 53%, says it it unable to fix corrupted files
Also tried opening the .log file. Says I'm not an administrator, when I have set my profile to admin. (I am the only user)
3. Clean boot, attempted to "sfc /scannow": fail
4. Using Microsoft account and local account. (I used a local account originally and tried switching to an MS account. This did not fix it.)
5. System "Refresh": says it is unable to complete refresh after reboot.
6. UAC was not changed, although I tried playing with the settings. Did not work.
7. My Anti-Virus has not been modified in any way. No firewall should be affecting this.
8. This happens on any internet connection.
I really do not want to resort to restoring the computer to factory settings.
Attempted to update to 8.1 yesterday and the store just won't open. Every time I click on the Store tile it doesn't get past the green introductory screen before just disappearing (crashing).. Have restarted several times and used the link-through on the Windows 8.1 site. Also, I have since discovered that all apps won't open either (such as news and sports).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently updated to a HP laptop with windows 8 and downloaded iTunes and transferred my music over which I can open and play, however when I try to go the iTunes store I get "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I never get any notification and I can't work out the problem, I have uninstalled and re-installed and still have the same issue.

All apps, including the Windows Store fail to launch when clicked. They display a splash screen but no loading symbol, the splash screen hangs for about a minute and then the whole app shuts off again. This started with the calculator from what I can see, but now it seems to affect all of them. I've tried multiple theories from several forums and sites but nothing has made a difference.
If possible I don't want to have to refresh or reinstall Windows 8 as I have a fair amount of software I've installed and don't want to have to go through installation all over again.
I got my new tablet today and am having no issues with anything except the Store. It takes forever to open but it shows that I have 26 apps needing updates. I clicked on a random app and clicked on install and it just shows pending on my screen. I'm surfing the web, downloading windows updates, etc...

While logged in using one of the admin user accounts or the local account, I can access the store app. However, when i log in using the other administrator account and try to access the store app, i just get the spinning circle and nothing happens. Is there something wrong with how one user account is set up that is causing the problem. Do I have to delete the user account and try re-establishing it.

I reinstalled windows 8 and all the apps that weren't working started working apart from store and apps bought from the store. When I click on the app store it just shows the loading screen then closes and doesn't provide any errors. I've tried several things already such as removing avast,checked screen resolution, running windows app store troubleshooter and I have installed all windows updates. I'm unable to do a refresh as when I try to it says some files are missing, your copy will provide these files and I put the disk in and it just says invalid media.

View 8 Replies View RelatedYesterday my HP sleekbook arrived (cheaper amd version) with windows 8. Everything works fine except that I can't open the store or pc settings. When I click on the store tile, or click on the more settings button, the fullscreen (green for store, blue for settings) icon fills the screen en then dissapears.
I have tried the sfc / scannow option but this did not work after 3 trials. Reset or Refresh also isn't an option because I can't enter the settings and thus won't be able to perform these actions.
I'm in the middle of a struggle with blank screen issue, possibly corrupted exlorer.exe file (won't run). Wanted to try update from 8-8.1 but the Windows Store won't show up with the blank screen issue. Any thoughts on resolutions? I've done several malware, adware scans and antivirus scans. Everything comes back clear. Also, tried adding a new user acct, but get an error message and can't add. Thought the update might replace the needed files. SFC scan return non-fixable errors.

Recently I upgraded my wife's Dell All In One from Windows 8 to 8.1 by going to Microsoft Store and selecting the upgrade panel for 8.1. It went smoothly even if slowly. I then tried doing the same thing for my Asus Q200E Laptop.
When I went to the store all I saw were apps for ASUS. How can I get to the real Microsoft Store to get the 8.1 upgrade?

View 9 Replies View RelatedAbout three days ago, all new style apps stopped working. I click on the tile, get a deep blue screen, and nothing else. On the left side of the screen, I can see the app as if it is working (just the name of the app, not content), so I can close the window and get back to desktop. The same applies to the STORE app. The only tiles that work, are the links to desktop applications, which open correctly on the desktop. The fault also affects all windows system apps. For example if I search on the start screen for "windows update", I can access "Windows update" as it just opens a window on the desktop, but if I click on "Windows update settings" nothing happens. The same is true with all windows system apps that open in the new start screen system.
I've uninstalled two Microsoft updates that were installed over the past three days, no change. I uninstalled AVAST, no change, so I reinstalled it! I tried restoring the system, but found that I had only one restore, and that was corrupted. Very strange. Without access to many windows system apps, the computer is really limited. The desktop seems to be working OK. I can't refresh the PC, as firstly it is a system app that runs from the start screen, and secondly because I upgraded from win 8 to 8.1 online, this can't be done anyway, as I don't have a disc. (Pavilion dv6, i7 processor, 6GB ram, originally win7, then I upgraded to win 8 and now 8.1. I've been running 8.1 for some months without problems, just occasionally on start-up from sleep, I get "error in non-cached memory" BSOD, and the system restarts.)
For some reasons, unknown by me, i try to access multiplayer mode on my gaming apps that allows online access will not connect to the internet. It tells me that i am not connected to the internet when i am clearly connected to it. My internet is through router and it works fine; i can access my browser just surfing the web. So I was trying to make this game called blacklight retribution run on windows 8 (it crashes for some reason)
And at some point i was installing some radio apps for the metro interface and trying to play the game at the same time (my PC is pretty weak -3.1ghz AMD processor, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd and a radeon 3300 hd integrated graphics card)
So my windows 8.1 (with the latest updates) crashed with the all-cool-new-bluescreen-of-death and after that my windows store app renders its content as if its broken, here's what it looks like:
I restarted windows numerous times, but the windows store app still appears to be "broken" but other apps seem to work as they should.
I am new to windows 8 and I couldn't find a way to restore windows to an earlier point, I know a very straightforward way - reinstall windows 8.1.
When I try to download Metro apps from Windows Store, I receive an error message saying "Something happened and this app couldn't be installed. Please try again later. Error code: 0x80010108".
I Googled it and tried to reset Windows Store cache by wsreset.exe but it didn't work. It occurs to every app I try to install.
Is it possible to download free apps from Windows Store directly (without going through "Windows Store" icon/apps in Windows 8.1? I'm having a problem with Windows Store in my OS, whenever I try it, it just said no network connection, but I can surf no problem using FF/Skype etc. If I can go directly to Windows Store website and download the apps directly from there, it'll be awesome, but everytime I tried, it just goes back to my OS Windows Store.
