How to go about making some recovery discs. What files need to be downloaded and how many discs do I need.

Make Recovery Discs But Win 8.1 Won't Allow Anymore?
Aug 7, 2014I tried to make recovery discs but Win 8.1 won't allow that anymore. This is from a MS full install disk, not OEM partition or similar. I tried the flash drive method and it did do that. However, the customer had only a USB flash drive adapter that allows MSD to fit. It accepted that and created the recovery flash drive using that setup. However, upon rebooting it just doesn't go into recovery mode. It just sits there prior to boot menu setup after pressing [ESC] for the laptop. What is going on? I know the flash drive is holding the boot process after I press [ESC] to enter boot menu for the laptop, what gives. I really don't think a true flash drive will work as well, though i couldn't test that at the time.

Sep 15, 2014I couldn't repair/replace my laptop's corrupt files doing an sfc or dism scan and had to do a reset as I couldn't do a refresh. I thought my laptop was clean when I created my last system image, last month, but when it came to using the system image I realised there was corrupt files on there too so I had to do another reset. What checks should I do before creating a system image? so I know that as well as there being no viruses there are no corrupt files either. Check for errors in Event Viewer and do an sfc and dism scan?

Windows 8 Not Recognizing Any Discs
Mar 13, 2013My PC with Windows 8 Pro doesn't read any kind of discs. I first tried a movie then it reads, a little disc appears on the cursor which means that the disc is being read. But all of a sudden, it fails at the end and doesn't read the disc. Even a bootable disc, it just stays black with a blinking line then it fails to read it as well. No errors or messages, it just proceeds to the Windows 8 loading screen.

Feb 21, 2014I was playing around with my OS dual booting them from Windows 8, W7 and XP but I accidentally erased my recovery partition. The bios i have is different from anything I've seen before. To boot from a cd/dvd i had to enable launch csm and secure boot control. Its the asus Q500a laptop. I just wanna know if i can download the recovery partition from somewhere and put it in my hdd.

By this hard disk partition, I used to recover the whole windows to its factory condition by using F10 key. The recovery hard-disk partition was of only 11Gb.it contains the whole windows with some software already installed . But now i have no recovery partition now. How to create recovery partition with in 12GB for future purpose.The windows default system image creation usually taking 40 gb space. So its of no use. Jun 12, 2014I have acquired an HP Envy M6 laptop (AMD version with ATI graphics) and I want to do a factory reset on it so I can customize it for me. Problem is the screen is broke so I have been using it with an external monitor until I can order the replacement screen. Problem I am running into is the extended monitor will not show BIOS screens or any of the recovery screens because no signal is directed to the extended monitor until it gets into windows 8. Is there a way to make it show boot screens or any screens it cycles through prior to getting into windows?
The broke screen illuminates and occasionally shows some of the desktop at the very bottom but I cannot see anything that I need to. I would like to go ahead and reset it so when I get the new screen it will be ready to go.

So I thought maybe the dvd was faulty and tried a few more - the dvd rw drive didnt read that there were blank dvds put in. So I put a dvd that was finished burning in and still nothing.

Customer reloaded BIOS to factory default prior to bringing it to me. Client even tried the recovery disk that came with the laptop.
This is what both the client and I are getting: see attached image.
All the options that show in the image when pressed leads back to the same Recovery screen.
I cannot get the DVD to boot from but the Disk is running. So not sure if the laser is of the DVD is not working.

Jul 30, 2014I have a new Asus Laptop running 64 bit 8.1 Windows Operating System. It has a celeron processor @ 1.86 Ghz with 4GB of Ram.
The DVD/CD Drive will not auto start any discs, DVD or CD. I have set the auto start at "on" and in the control panel I have it checked to auto play all media. It still does not auto start when I insert a cd or dvd. I can however, manually see the files and play a music CD.

It came with Recovery partitions. Now using the Samsung Recovery application I had copied my recovery files to another external HDD alongwith a backup of C drive. Now all these are in some weird extensions. I refreshed my PC and then the problems began. The problems were :
-No Fn key working
-Samsung recovery did not recognize factory condition recovery point,i.e,Factory reset option was gone.
-The backup on external HDD was showing up on Samsung Recovery, but after clicking on it, it would go on a restart and recovery never happens.

Computer was running slow so I did a reset of windows. It worked but the problem still existed. My computer froze so I turned my laptop off and back on only to find it stuck in that automatic repair loop. I tried system restore, no luck. I made that bootable usb for repairing and that didn't work either. Straight repair won't work either. I have tried every option and am completely lost as to how to proceed. I need the files off the hard drive but don't have a way to connect it to anything to be able to access the files.

I thought it was supposed to take the product key that is embedded in the BIOS? UEFI is on on BIOS. Am I using the wrong version of Windows 8 DVD?

Sep 9, 2013I swapped out a HDD in a samsung NP355E5C-A01AU laptop which i cloned all the recovery partitions from the original to the new HDD. Its a windows 8 partition and everything seems to be there but the laptop wont boot from it at all, it just goes into bios. I did get it to try and read from the recovery partition but get a "MBR error 1" when it tries to boot from it. I used aronis disk director 11 to do the cloning if that works. Also the original HDD was a GPT partition and thats wat i have formatted the drive as. Ive done some reading and acronis can be difficult when cloning recovery partitions and it will give u this MBR error.

The first time you go to install a store app you are prompted for your Live account credentials. Once entered, the only choice is SAVE or CANCEL. Once SAVE is chosen Windows remembers the password and the user is not prompted next time they go to install a store app. I want the user to be prompted every time. It seems earlier version of WIN8 allowed this. Can it still be done? I looked for a registry hack to prevent the Live password from being memorized but could find none.
