Mar 6, 2014
I bought a new laptop asus q500l now i want to make recovey dvds and after looking on the internet in asus forums it seems my laptop has a recovery partiton but no option to create recovery dvds my question now is lets say i have a windows 8 dvd oem will i be able to use that to reinstall my os or is there a way for me to make a recovery dvd reason for asking is i want to install ssd in the laptop but i dont wanna doit without some kinda back up for my factory setup note i do use r-drive image for backing up hard drive.
I have a K55A Asus laptop, and I'm having some issues trying to restore it (refreshing it at his start). I have no CD for the recovery and when I try to restore my PC by the program Window8 in stored (settings-> General -> Delete everything and reinstall Window) I get an error saying there is some files missing.
I was playing around with my OS dual booting them from Windows 8, W7 and XP but I accidentally erased my recovery partition. The bios i have is different from anything I've seen before. To boot from a cd/dvd i had to enable launch csm and secure boot control. Its the asus Q500a laptop. I just wanna know if i can download the recovery partition from somewhere and put it in my hdd.
I created DVD and USB backups to my new Windows 8 Inspiron laptop; I needed to recover the next day, and the Hard Disk recovery partition and the USB were reported as corrupt! On a brand new system with a brand new USB stick!
On attempting to recover with the DVDs, after using the first one the Dell recovery program said 100% complete, so didn't even read the next 2. The recovery showed a "restart" button, and of course nothing happened!
Just got my hands on a brand new ASUS K95VB notebook on behalf of a friend. I used a USB with Windows 8.1 on it in order to format the hard drive and install Windows. The hard drive is 3TB. I remember trying to install Windows using the UEFI option in the usb startup menu but that didnt work so I proceeded on the non-uefi option.
Now the problem is that only 2 TB are shown and the remaining 1 TB is shown only in device manager as not assigned...
If I understand correctly, the BIOS should be in UEFI mode and then the hard drive should be converted to GPT and then install Windows.
But, no option in BIOS for UEFI to be enabled whatsoever. What on earth should I do?
I have an Asus Transformer Book t100 and I have a problem with auto rotation. It stopped working and the buttons that switch it on/off (in the settings menu, the resolution menu) disappeared. I tried reinstalling the system and it worked but then the problem came back after about 30 minutes. I dont feel like reinstalling it whenever the problem appears.
I wanted to remove the hidden recovery parition on my Asus Zenbook UX31A, which is 20GB in size, and I need that space, because the laptop just has a 128GB SSD, and I am permanently on space limit of about 1-2GB and Windows isn't working anymore properly.
when I open the Windows 8 recovery tool, the option for copying the recovery partition is greyed out. I googled for this, and I just could find informations about, that this can happen, but not why, and how to solve it.
USB recovery image for a Vivotab Smart? I put mine on a flash drive, deleted it from my tablet's hard drive, and then that flash drive died! It will be a huge file to download but it would be a very important backup.
So I had this recovery error that said my winload.efi was missing so I ran the recovery from boot up and decided to recover. I read that this will delete the files from C: so I turned on the "Maintain User Data" option and selected all including the local disk c from advanced selection. But when the process was finished, my laptop was empty and no data was restored. What happened ? did I just misunderstand how it works and now it's gone ? or is it just somewhere I can't find ?

I have some problems with my laptop ASUS K55VD. I had windows 8, but with the store of windows I have updated to windows 8.1.
I have tried to use the recovery partition, but every time I try appears a message. Failed to reset your computer. A partition of unity necessary is missing. For that reason I have looking for some information, and with CMD commands like "diskpart". I have noticed that I have 8 volumen.
And in Computer Management appears this.
Then googling recommend to use EaseUS Partition, and some many things change. In the beginning, I had the same 3 partions in red and I don't know what happened.
But in diskpart change too, and I only have 4 volume, and it have dissapeared the recovery partition, and I don't know why?
Before to use EaseUS partition I have created a USB booteable with 9.79gb, and I had this:
But, in this days I have tried to create the USB booteable again, but I can't. And everytime I have tried to run the usb, appears to select the language, the keyboard, and then appears the same windows with troubleshoting and turn off (it returns at the previous windows in blue)
Alright, so my ASUS laptop has been getting a little slow lately, so I decided to reinstall. Now I know my PC has an ASUS recovery partition, which reinstall the pc with all the tools, drivers etc, since I've used it before. But now when I restart the computer and press F9 and reset, it doesn't work. This is what I do:
This is where it was supposed to give me the option to restore whole drive or just install windows to the primary partition. But now it asks for a CD, which I don't have. This PC never used to have a recovery CD, just a recovery partition.
Then, I read somewhere I could do the same from inside Windows 8, so I tried that as well by going to the charms bar, then Settings and then "Change PC settings". Then I selected "Update and recovery" from the left, and then went to Recovery, where I pressed the button to remove everything and reinstall windows. This is what I got:
So, I tried to see if EaseUs Partition manager showed the recovery partition. I started ASUS and these are the partitions it found:
I saw it found both a "Recovery" partition and a "Restore" partition. Now I assume the Recovery partition is the one Windows 8 boots into, and the Restore partition is the one created by ASUS. So, these are the contents of the Recovery partition:
And these are the contents of the Restore partition:
As you can see outlined in red, it does contain an install.wim file, so I know the recovery data is there. However the Windows 8 recovery environment just isn't able to find it.
I have made a System Image & a Custom Recovery Image on my Asus Vivotab but I cannot get the system to recognize them on a USB Hard Drive.
I got into this by testing the Refresh Custom Recovery Image. The system did not find the image as the system allocated a different drive letter so I have basic Refresh. I have found my way to the Administrator Command but cannot find RECIMG on either the x: or C: drives. Do I need a Path Command from System32?
I also have a System image on a USB Hard Drive but cannot get the system to find it. I have tried putting the files folders in the root directory but the system still does not recognise them.
My tablet is running fine, but I did something (not bright) which could leave me in a lurch later. Here's what I did, and what I'm looking for.
Soon after I purchased my Asus VivoTab Smart, I made a USB recovery disk, complete with recovery partition. Then, to save disk space on the tablet, I deleted the recovery partition on the tablet. So far, so good. Where I blew it was when I got my flash drives mixed up and then erased my USB recovery disk! The tablet runs fine, but if I ever want to refresh it or do a reset, I need the recovery partition, either on the tablet or on a flash drive.
Samsung Laptop 365E5C-S05. Under Boot Option Priority, in the Setup Utility the Boot option #1 is Windows Boot Mangager (PO....1). It is disabled. How can I enable it? There is no box to check to enable it.
My windows 8 laptop no longer allows me to select an option out of Power Saver, Balanced, High Performance, Power4Gear Battery Saving, and Power4Gear High Performance. It is set to High Performance, and any time I try to click another option it immediately returns to High Performance.
I just installed windows 8 . I did have windows 7,but after I installed 8 I went to download some pics from my cameras SD card and it doesn't work.Do I need to install drivers for it.
When I turn on my friend's Asus Windows 8 laptop, the backlit keyboard lights up momentarily, the screen stays blank. I can hear the hard drive spinning, but nothing happens onscreen.
I can get in the Setup menu by pressing F2 on boot. I've turned off Fast Boot, did not work.
I have a game that was written into 2 DVDs and when i want to install this game and insert DVD1 and begin the installation , after for example 10 min it says you should insert DVD 2 for resuming the installation.
I have an 8gig install file of a game(with iso format) so how can i write this into 2 DVDs that will install like my above example.
I ordered backup DVDs on 11/11, but they still haven't delivered to my mailbox. In my email, it says they have shipped via USPS. There is no tracking number, though.
Is this just due to hurricane Sandy perhaps?
Looks like I'm not alone at least

Asus laptop Windows 8 stuck at Resetting PC 2%, Only option is hard reset??
This laptop belongs to my Grandma (87 years old). **She did not make the recovery disk for the computer.**
I got to the Recovery options and it has been stuck at 2% for about 6 hours. Asus OEM X55C Windows 8
NOTE: Yesterday I told Grandma I would see what was wrong, but it would bug out, freeze, etc when trying to log into the administrator. The screen would go totally black and then freeze. So, the computer has shut down improperly several times.
However, it did repair the disk last night before I attempted this recovery.
I have an Asus laptop with Windows 8. I got it last August and until last week I haven't had any problems with it. Last week, my sound stopped working. It shows that the sound is up all the way on speakers and system sounds, but I am only able to get sound when I plug my headphones into the headphone jack.
I am trying to set up a backup for a Windows 8 ASUS laptop. The backup is to go to a local network shared external drive. The folder for the back up was named Sue_ASUS_bkup and it was mapped as "W". The backup tools > Win 7 file recovery only provides a DVD as a backup location. It does not show a hard drive nor the network location as options.
A couple of days ago, I was on steam on my ASUS X550L Notebook when it suddenly blue screened and shut down. I waited a couple of minutes and turned it back on, and it went to the ASUS automatic repair system. After 6 hours of my laptop being stuck on the repair system, I shut it down. I waited around a minute and turned it back on and ran it through login, where it blue screened again and has not turned on since. If I go to try to turn it on, the lights in the bottom of the laptop flash for a couple of seconds, but it never turns on. I am okay with wiping the computer if I can get my files on an external hard drive, don't want to redownload them steam files.
I just recently bought asus notebook x550C i3 processor, had been working fine for a week. Then lost connection to Internet went to update and restart as updates were needing to be done. After appearing to complete the updates, it then said failure configuring updates, reverting changes do not turn off. It has now been on this screen for 3 hours. I have tried shutting down but when re opens it lands back on same page, with the loop going round and round. I have tried f9, as another forum said that should get me to menu to restore factory settings but that does not work, neither does windows key
I have an ASUS laptop (N53Jq, i7, GT425M, 8GB) with Windows 8.1, with update. It's being used like a desktop computer, with the lid closed connected to a monitor through HDMI and with mouse and keyboard. I have the Power4Gear Hybrid driver, to set the high performance mode in my PC, but after awhile it still goes into sleep mode (like 1 or 2 minutes). It's really weird, I checked every setting (on the driver app and control panel) and sleep mode is off everywhere.
