I downloaded a preview of a game and after I was done playing it I closed the window and everything was bigger the icons fonts taks bars everything. i would like to have everything back to normal size but when i went into properties it was already on normal size. I ran my ad ware scanner and virus scanner and there was nothing. Oh ya my operating system is Windows XP.
View 8 RepliesUnder OS win98se regarding winXPpro windows folder.Online virus scan says there is two adware programs, WUpd & Maxifiles under windowsDownloaded program files. Thing is though when I go into the folder I see five files totaling 192k in size with names like "java run time environment 1.5.0" But when I go outside of the folder and click on properties it tells me there are 22 files in there totalling 22.2mb in there. Whats up with this? I have "show all files" enabled under hidden folders. Why can't I see these files?

The shortcut icons appear only on the fifth line of the Mozilla and I.E. browzer home pages. The address line shows the files at http://retrogamer.iwon.com/home.jhtml?tbdd=9197. The files do not appear under C: anywhere and the search function and Control Panel add/remove can't locate them either.

I installed an old game, and it ended up changing a lot of my icons back to the 95/98 versions of them, and I don't remember/know a way to get rid of them and replace them all with XP's again.

Nothing seems to work. I have a 64 bit computer but my XP home is a 32 bit. I tried to turn off all firewalls and Norton and nothing seems to work. Until, I changed my theme too something different. Now my theme is all nice but when I go too Start--->All Programs, my font is twice as big as usual. I know the theme is not making it bigger, because I have tryed other themes! The font and all looks ugly and way too big! How do I change this? Now all of my themes are changing too this same font and font size
View 14 Replies View RelatedI had installed RegCure last night and then uninstalled it since it wasn't working properly.This morning when I turned on my computer, I found out my system font has changed dramatically.The font appears to be a spin off of WingDings, but I can't tell. I can get on the internet and IM no problem, but as for finding something on my start menu, or trying to navigate to my system preferences is an impossibility.Also, on the internet and IM, everything is bold and the font is larger.

Since then I have installed a few applications on a different partition, but it is not uncommon for applications to put something in the program files folder anyway Is there a safe and easy way of having "my documents" and or "program files" on a bigger partition? Or would that defeat the whole point of a system partition?

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy daughter's eMachines PC has XP. She was moving some photos from one folder to another. Now they won't preview or open. The thumbnail images do not show up either.In Properties they do not say "Read Only" or "Hidden" and it will not let me alter anything. It will say "Error Applying Attributes"-"Access is denied".I asked her what happened and she said she was prompted if she wanted to move these "Read Only" files and she clicked "Yes" because she said it has asked her before on some.It lists the titles and the size of the files. The other photos in the folder show their previews and thumbnails, but these just show the generic JEPG icon.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn WinXP, there are certain default right click menu associations on some file types, such as images, audio, video, etc. These can often interfere with your chosen default apps for handling these file types (such as ACDSee or others). Images are a prime example -- no matter what other app you install for manipulating images, the "Preview" option is always the default, which goes and runs the Windows Image and Fax Viewer. I finally found the solution to this.Any entry in the ContextMenuHandler key will override whatever you try and do, there's no easy way of telling it you want a different default option. This leaves us with deleting these keys as a final solution.As always, back up your registery before doing any changes.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi've had problems with my computer background for months -.- and it's really getting on my nerves. i'd like to find a solution to my problem.. when i right click my desktop, click properties, click desktop.. and browse and find the photo i want to set, it looks fine in the preview but when i apply it, half of it is off the screen in the corner. i tried changing it to stretch, center, tile, i re sized the image to my exact desktop size, i also tried different resolutions and still no change! please if someone can help.. i've googled this Many Many times but none of the solutions worked for me, i've also tried multiple images... So I have a AMD Athlon XP 2200+ processor running on a Gigabyte mobo (I can get the model no. if needed) and a BFG GeForce 5500 AGP card. I have 2 Crucial DDR-333 512M sticks and a WD 80GB SATA drive.Now when I run Windows and basic apps(IE, Outlook, Firefox, etc) But when I run a few games like World of Warcraft, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth, etc. Occasionally it will just hang the PC. No error, just looping sound and freeze frame.
