I just installed Adobe PS CS2 and I was fixing some of the icons that hadnt changed from the PS Elements ones when I changed the .ico icon and now you cant see their preview icon, it shows a PS icon. Hope you get what I mean. How can I change this back?
My daughter's eMachines PC has XP. She was moving some photos from one folder to another. Now they won't preview or open. The thumbnail images do not show up either. In Properties they do not say "Read Only" or "Hidden" and it will not let me alter anything. It will say "Error Applying Attributes"-"Access is denied".I asked her what happened and she said she was prompted if she wanted to move these "Read Only" files and she clicked "Yes" because she said it has asked her before on some.It lists the titles and the size of the files. The other photos in the folder show their previews and thumbnails, but these just show the generic JEPG icon.
1. Open regedit and 2. Browse to and delete the key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTSystemFileAssociationsimageShellExConte xtMenuHandlersShellImagePreview Originally posted by blueflame.
In WinXP, there are certain default right click menu associations on some file types, such as images, audio, video, etc. These can often interfere with your chosen default apps for handling these file types (such as ACDSee or others). Images are a prime example -- no matter what other app you install for manipulating images, the "Preview" option is always the default, which goes and runs the Windows Image and Fax Viewer. I finally found the solution to this.Any entry in the ContextMenuHandler key will override whatever you try and do, there's no easy way of telling it you want a different default option. This leaves us with deleting these keys as a final solution. As always, back up your registery before doing any changes.

When they use the Microsoft Fax, the preview uses Kodak software and I not seeing the way to change it to the Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer like it is on my account. Any help on getting the preview to use the Microsoft Picture and Fax

I'll post some screenshots now
I write a file in Word and then save it.Before I print it I usually go into Print Preview just to check things out. This time however it just showed me a blank box and the printer would not print.Everything was OK for a complete day and then the problem happened again - blank preview and no printing. This time switching off for 10 minutes and then back on had no effect.I have been trying most of today to correct things without success. I then copied it onto a floppy, put the floppy in my friends PC - same result as before
I was wondering how to fix this problem, the icon for internet explorer in the start menu shows up as an unknown file icon. The icon on the desktop for IE shows fine but when i try to click on it, it creates a shortcut for internet explorer. if click on IE from the start menu, it opens IE with no problems.
I'm going to ask a question which is something related to programming in windows.. Is there a way that i can add my own icon to the existing file and folder icon like dropbox.Changing desktop.ini is the only way for changing folder icons??How can i add my own icon to the existing file icon(like a tick on below every file icon).
no IE icon on desktop or in programs. i have internet access through verizon. i recently got windows update to install IE7 in the hope that would restore the icon/program but the only way i can access the internet is via the verizon browser. i clearly installed IE7 because now the "sidebar" of my verizon browser says that "sidebar i currently not compatible with IE7...". so why can't i get the IE7 icon in my program list or desktop?
i had attached a snapshot of the icons in my icon tray..pass few days back i found this "X" icon in my tray and i cant remove it and also it doesnt display anything..
After looking at the display settings and closing them, my icon disappeared. A file search on all *.cpl files show that the display.cpl file still exists and I can create a shortcut to the desktop and run the program. But, I'd like my icon back.I believe the problem was created by having all my icons underlined so I only have to do a single Left click to bring up the program.
I've winxp Home with SP2 system, yesterday my daughter had installed the program 'MS Plus' from the XP Installation CD which was not installed earlier in the machine. My OS is original, but to-day on opening the system I'm seeing that the icon of Hard Drive(E : Drive)to which the program was installed went missing and in its place another icon (which generally represents for any unidentified file) has taken its place.
problem setting the CD/DVD icon to return to it's normal icon in My Computer. It currently has the Audio CD icon. I've played an audio CD awhile ago and since then, the icon has remained. This icon is causing problems when I open a Data CD. When the Data CD is inserted the Audio icon emains. When I click on the icon, Media Player starts. I have disabled the auto-run or auto-play setting prior to this problem. I would have to right-click and select Open to get to the data files.
Under Windows Explorer, when I click on the icon, it shows the contents of the data CD but the Audio icon is still present.
Just wondering why when you drag an IE http short cut to the desktop, it does not display the site logo icon. Sometimes, they will show and others not. I have had them even come and go after different sessions. I log on to Internet both through work firewall and at home on network through firewall and in motels through open and firewall protected isps.
I cannot logon to xp. I don't have the icon logon so I can read to you exactly what it does
Loading your personal settings (this one goes fast but I think its playing logon sound) Restoring network connections (during that I see my desktop background) something skips quickly through here, i think its executing WGAlogon.dll or something Saving your settings (background disappears)
and now I'm back in the logon box
I really don't have much information other than I can't login
Is there any way to make a user by only editing files?
I have system restore points but I cant get to them because I can login to the user even in safe mode, any way to get to those?
I only have 1 user so Ignore my messup right there, not creating a backup user.
Have a desktop icon I cannot remove or move to another folder. The file name is WGTS_100 and its a mod for F1 Challenge 99 02.It failed during down load and I can't get rid of the icon.Deleted everything in the registry but it's still there , looked for it in the the dos window but it does not show up.Help me?
I put a short cut on my desk top from a file attachment I received in an e-mail . The file has been deleted but I cannot delete the icon from my desktop. When I try to delete it I get a message cannot delete file: cannot read from the source file or disk. I have tried the desktop clean up wizzard , tried to delete it safe mode, could not find it in the registry. I run adware and virus scans everyday with no problems detected. I ran a file search and found the shortcut under documents & settings but cannot delete from there either. any ideas? win xp home sp2 dell 8300
Running Windows XP SP2 on a Dell Dimension. And for instance, when you go to the Set Program Access and Defaults, on the left I have the icons, but I don't have the text below. There aren't any words underneath the icons. Also, Certain web pages only partially come up. For example the text will show but only half of the pictures or ads will show.
I am trying to remove an icon that says "install_flash_player", but every time I try, it says "Cannot delete install_flash_player: It is being used by another person or Program. Close any programs that may be using the file and try again."
I've tried shutting down the pc, but that didn't work. I've closed all programs when trying to delete it but it won't go. I then tried opening my task manager to view processes, but am unsure as to which process to end.
