May 8, 2005I saved an image on my desktop and now I can't get rid of it. It covers about 8/10th of my screen, the rest is my wallpaper, which is fine. Can anybody help me. I use XP Home, IE6 sp2, OE6. I checked Properties on my wallpaper and it does not appear there.I have right clicked on everything and nothing seems to help.

Apr 4, 2007My daughter's eMachines PC has XP. She was moving some photos from one folder to another. Now they won't preview or open. The thumbnail images do not show up either.In Properties they do not say "Read Only" or "Hidden" and it will not let me alter anything. It will say "Error Applying Attributes"-"Access is denied".I asked her what happened and she said she was prompted if she wanted to move these "Read Only" files and she clicked "Yes" because she said it has asked her before on some.It lists the titles and the size of the files. The other photos in the folder show their previews and thumbnails, but these just show the generic JEPG icon.

Aug 12, 2002In WinXP, there are certain default right click menu associations on some file types, such as images, audio, video, etc. These can often interfere with your chosen default apps for handling these file types (such as ACDSee or others). Images are a prime example -- no matter what other app you install for manipulating images, the "Preview" option is always the default, which goes and runs the Windows Image and Fax Viewer. I finally found the solution to this.Any entry in the ContextMenuHandler key will override whatever you try and do, there's no easy way of telling it you want a different default option. This leaves us with deleting these keys as a final solution.As always, back up your registery before doing any changes.

Dec 3, 2006I am trying to create a full HD image of my Dell c800 Laptop using Drive Image 7 (circa 2003) to an USB HD. I have tried twice and received failures about my HD having bad sectors OR locked sectors. I ran check disc with repair and did not find any problems. Re-ran check disc from the boot disc that came with the application and found no problems with the disc. Tried again for a backup and received the same error. I am thinking it is one of the programs I have loaded has a locked sector or one of my processes that loads during boot is the problem?

May 3, 2006So two days ago my computer suddenly decides that when I arrive back home it would want to start running like a win 95. Thus, I promted to shut it down. Once it arrived to the loading screen after the reboot nothing occurred. Aug 12, 2010i've had problems with my computer background for months -.- and it's really getting on my nerves. i'd like to find a solution to my problem.. when i right click my desktop, click properties, click desktop.. and browse and find the photo i want to set, it looks fine in the preview but when i apply it, half of it is off the screen in the corner. i tried changing it to stretch, center, tile, i re sized the image to my exact desktop size, i also tried different resolutions and still no change! please if someone can help.. i've googled this Many Many times but none of the solutions worked for me, i've also tried multiple images... There is no Change/Remove button in Add/Remove Programs but the program is there, 150 MB, and the file suggested on the HP website for uninstalling older printers from XP produces a message that it's "unsupported" can't remember exact verbiage, been a while since last tried. Even reinstalled in the hopes that a message would come up to the effect "this program is already installed, do you want install to remove it prior to completing this install," but it just installs the printer again with a number after it ... I'm up to "hp officejet g series - 3."

Apr 29, 2007I was trying to remove windows messenger by going to control panel -> add/remove programs -> add/remove windows components I misread the directions for this windows XP setup box and made it so that only windows messenger had a checkmark because I thought this meant that only windows messenger would be modified removed unfortunately, this just meant windows messenger stayed the same and all the other components i had installed were removed.
