Pc Hang During Game

I've been racking my brain on this issue for months with no success. So I have a AMD Athlon XP 2200+ processor running on a Gigabyte mobo (I can get the model no. if needed) and a BFG GeForce 5500 AGP card. I have 2 Crucial DDR-333 512M sticks and a WD 80GB SATA drive.Now when I run Windows and basic apps(IE, Outlook, Firefox, etc) But when I run a few games like World of Warcraft, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth, etc. Occasionally it will just hang the PC. No error, just looping sound and freeze frame.

I was using my comp yesterday and the right & left click functions of the mouse stopped working in IE. They worked fine on the task bar. I rebooted and it took almost 15 minutes to come back up. CPU usage is at 100% all the time. Needless to say it barely runs it's so slow but everything seems to work. I rebooted into safe mode and cpu usage is normal but I can't seem to find the hang. I also ran msconfig and disabled all the startup items and service items, XP seems to start. things occur normally up to the splash screen, but just after that is where it hangs.

I have an HP d530c system running Win XP SP2 which will hang 8 times out of 10 when a CD or DVD is inserted. Running DVD and CD writers. Have changed all drives/cables/DMA settings. If autorun is disabled in registry system works fine.

Computer gets hang after 20 second.sometimes it gets hanged when computer checks that NV Ram on the very first screen sometime it gets hang on BIOS[blue screen]means i cannot go to the main Deskpot. I am using Windows Xp SP1.

After doing a fdisk and repartioning my hard drive I put in the WIN XP CD to reinstall the OS. It goes to the blue screen that says WINDOWS SETUP. On the bottom task bar it says Windows is loading setup. It's not loading at all. It hangs there and I have to reboot and it does it again. I havae changed hard drives and memory sticks and the same problem.

I have a Pentium 2.7gHz, and Radeon 9550. A short while ago, my Pc started to hang (at random times, usually when I first turned it on in the morning, it would hang at the XP Load screen, sometimes at the logon screen, and other times just during normal use.)
This problem became more prevalent, so i decided to try a repair install. It now hangs during this install as well. This computer is currently useless.

I have a HP computer with Windows software and starting yesterday it started to hang up and stall. We have to manually turn the computer off and back on and it takes several minutes before it comes to the main screen. I did a system restore, turned off the screensaver, ran a virus check with Norton 2004, and it is still occuring and has hung up 5 times today. We do not have internet access to this computer, so I do not think there is a virus on it.

I just bought the Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade With Service Pack 2, and I just got done setting everything up and I just defragged my (C drive. Either at the "welcome" screen or after choosing a profile, it says: "Loading your personalized settings" and this takes about a minute or two, which isn't that bad, but right after it loads that up, my desktop appears, and my icons don't show up until about 5-10 mins, which is very unusual. On starting up my computer, after the Windows screen with the 'flashing' bar lights up, my computer hangs for about 60 seconds with a blank black screen before my desktop appears.Now the strange part. I've just installed a DVD burner in the slot where I used to have a CD burner. On installation I started up my computer with the cover off, and Windows started immediately - no hang at all. On replacing the cover, the hang is back. Co-incidence? I don't think so. I thought it may have been software related but now have no idea whatsoever.

I get random application hang up. I can't end the program. The restart command will not respond. I must push the main button until the system shuts down. The system starts again without difficulty.The Windows XP Event Viewer shows no system errors. In the application window it simply shows Application Hang with the Event 1001/1002 combination. I can't seem to find any really useful information on these event codes. The problem has become a daily occurrence.

I did a clone backup of my old installation of windows xp (Home Ed.) to a new hard drive, after that, I disconnected the old hd and attempted to fix windows to no avail... I got frustrated after many attempts and decided to do a clean install (on the new H.D.). Windows setup perfectly... Today I tried to boot up with the old hd into windows to backup some quicken files I needed and windows wont boot... it will just hang at the welcome screen and stay there... Sometimes when I Alt-tab I see 2 processes 1 (Wndows Logon) 2 (windows welcome screen)... but that's it... I've tried everything but doing a repair install, since I'm afraid about getting stuck in the repair install (it has happened to me twice).

I just recently replaced my 200 gig ide harddrive with a 1 TB SATA hardrive, as my old one kicked the bucket. I have reinstalled windows xp and all drivers and got everything working. It is working better than ever ,as my old harddrive was sluggish for some time before it died. But now i am unable to play any 3d games. They boot up fine ,but whenever anything is rendererd in 3d it hangs at random intervals for a good 10-15 seconds then continues for a few seconds and hangs again. I have tried half life 2, swat 4 and ceaser 4. Swat 4 even hangs in the menu screen.

I posted this on October 19th, but had no replies, so I'll try again.When I click on a midi link, WMP will open then freezes. CPU usage for WMP at 99%. Have to close WMP with task manager.If I go to a page with an embedded midi file, the page will freeze, no sound and cpu usage at 99% for Internet Explorer.This does not occur using Firefox only with Internet Explorer.As far a WMP, this was occurring with WMP 10, a friend suggested that I should upgrade to version 11. No change.

After almost 4 hours (3 hours of desperate trial and error, 45 minutes of chkdsk) I got my computer to reboot after a mup.sys hang. After using my laptop to research it, I learned that the hang could be caused by a lot of things. So now that I've got it going again, what's my next step?One of the last things I did was take out the new USB 2.0 PCI card, thinking that could be it even though I had been using it for 3 days with no problems during reboots or otherwise.The system crashed sometime last night, possibly while Ghost was trying to do a backup. I backup to a USB 2.0 external drive, again pointing to a possible conflict with the card. (I should note that I just realized Ghost hasn't actually done a backup in two weeks because it thinks the disk is full. Would have been nice it if had notified me of that when it happened.)

Upgraded from ME to XP Home with SP2. After I rebuilt my address list I have notice 2 problems that are likely related. If I right-click on the desktop the system hangs and then refreshes itself almost like I logged off and logged back on. A second problem is that if I am in Windows Explorer and select File it does the same thing. I can install a new folder in an MS Office "save as" screen, but not from the File command. I have already reinstalled XP once - first time Outlook Express displayed messages but you could not open them. I hate to reinstall.

I'm running XP home SP3, and it boots up fine in normal mode, but when I tried booting it in Safe mode (to try and fix a different problem) it stopped on the driver list at agp.sys. I have an ATI Radeon HD3850 (AGP slot) which wasn't the original GPU with the PC when I bought it.I've looked around all over the place to find a fix, and I've tried the main solution which is to disable agp.sys via the recovery console. However, the graphics go really basic in normal mode, and when booted in safe mode, it hangs on mup.sys instead. I've also run a full error scan on start-up and it didn't fix it.I've read people suggesting updating GPU bios, which I've heard can be risky.
