Jan 1, 2008The prob is my laptop hang during shutdown..why this happen..?? is cause of virus or problem in the window file system? 4 ur info,im using windows xp service pack 2.

Pc Hang Up - Have To Pull The Plug To Shutdown
Nov 23, 2006I'm running on a e-machine T6520 MediaCenter PC. The system hangs up almost everyday.I have to pull the plug to shutdown just like the old days. Is their a methos for me to use to search out the problem cause?

Jul 9, 2008well, this problem started a little while ago, Ive got a 2.93ghz P4, and 1GB memory, so i know my computer is (plenty) fast enough.when i click on the button in the start menu "Turn Off Computer", my PC shows the hourglass, and i cant click on anything, this will go on for about a minute or 2, once it took 5 minutes. then the small box with shutdown options comes up finally, and then after the light blue screen gets to "Shutting Down...". it takes maybe a bit longer than expected but im not to sure about that.

Aug 19, 2009All of sudden my Dell laptop stopped shutting down, or takes close to 10 minutes to shut down. This happened with no other changes or new software/hardware being installed. It appears to sync with our server fine. I use a docking station, Dell Latitude D830, and take it home with me each day. Sync occurs when I dock in the morning and when I shut down to capture and sync my hard drive and server changes on files I work on at office or home. I shut down and it locks up, I then will hit the main power button and one of two things will happen, it will shut completely down or it will start the Sync process, finish, then go to the blue screen with the Windows Shutting Down message, then stick there

Oct 27, 2007I just spoke to my daughter at college who is having trouble with her Acer laptop, running XP SP2, Intel Celleron, 2GB RAM, and using Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite. When she clicks "shut down" the laptop appears to shut down, but then restarts. "Restart" is not selected. I did a Google search and found a known problem with Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.0 and with Direct CD 5.0, but as best I can tell she has neither program installed (she looked in "programs" folder, and in control panel under "add and remove programs" and couldn't find either listed). I also had her right click "my computer", "properties", "advanced", "startup and recovery - settings", and uncheck the "automatically restart" box in "system failure" section. But her laptop still restarts at shutdown.

May 7, 2008My boss has a problem when shutting down his Laptop at work. When he chooses to shutdown it can take up to 10 minutes for it to shutdown and he is really starting to get worked up. However, when he uses it at home it shuts down right away. Can anyone suggest a posible reason for this? His laptop is a Dell with Windows xp. Aug 3, 2010i remote into my XP box everything is fine except when i shut down using a shutdown shortcut and other shutdown utilities no matter what after i get booted off the remote session the computer looks like its shutting down then stays on for a few seconds then a BSOD appear. I have been trying to figure out why for the past week and no solution so im hoping someone can chime in..The problem is only on remote if i shut down locally never a single BSOD and no hardware has changed. Aug 28, 2003This is weird. I have to go through the shutdown procedure twice, i.e., Start/Shut Down/Shut Down and click Ok, then Start/Shut Down/Shut Down and click Ok again. It will then shutdown properly. The same thing happens when I try to "Restart." After doing the first shutdown sequence, everything is normal. I can open programs, surf the web, etc. It's as if I never tried to shut it down at all. Only after the second shutdown procedure will it shutdown fully. One note: When I go through the first shutdown sequence, my taskbar pops up and the desktop is darkened. After clicking Ok, the taskbar autohides and my desktop returns to its normal color.I have only had this problem for the last month or two. Before that, all was fine. It's not critical since I can shut it down. It's just annoying to have to do it twice.I have Windows 2000 Pro, SP4, build 5.00.2195.

When I select "Start" then either shutdown or reboot, my desktop will flicker a couple of times, and then nothing appears to happen. Nov 10, 2008I was using my comp yesterday and the right & left click functions of the mouse stopped working in IE. They worked fine on the task bar. I rebooted and it took almost 15 minutes to come back up. CPU usage is at 100% all the time. Needless to say it barely runs it's so slow but everything seems to work. I rebooted into safe mode and cpu usage is normal but I can't seem to find the hang. I also ran msconfig and disabled all the startup items and service items, XP seems to start. things occur normally up to the splash screen, but just after that is where it hangs.

So I have a AMD Athlon XP 2200+ processor running on a Gigabyte mobo (I can get the model no. if needed) and a BFG GeForce 5500 AGP card. I have 2 Crucial DDR-333 512M sticks and a WD 80GB SATA drive.Now when I run Windows and basic apps(IE, Outlook, Firefox, etc) But when I run a few games like World of Warcraft, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth, etc. Occasionally it will just hang the PC. No error, just looping sound and freeze frame.

Aug 6, 2005I have a Pentium 2.7gHz, and Radeon 9550. A short while ago, my Pc started to hang (at random times, usually when I first turned it on in the morning, it would hang at the XP Load screen, sometimes at the logon screen, and other times just during normal use.)
This problem became more prevalent, so i decided to try a repair install. It now hangs during this install as well. This computer is currently useless.

We have to manually turn the computer off and back on and it takes several minutes before it comes to the main screen. The system starts again without difficulty.The Windows XP Event Viewer shows no system errors. In the application window it simply shows Application Hang with the Event 1001/1002 combination. I can't seem to find any really useful information on these event codes. The problem has become a daily occurrence.
