Right Click Hang The System

Upgraded from ME to XP Home with SP2. After I rebuilt my address list I have notice 2 problems that are likely related. If I right-click on the desktop the system hangs and then refreshes itself almost like I logged off and logged back on. A second problem is that if I am in Windows Explorer and select File it does the same thing. I can install a new folder in an MS Office "save as" screen, but not from the File command. I have already reinstalled XP once - first time Outlook Express displayed messages but you could not open them. I hate to reinstall.

Go to Download Link a file any website i'm getting some hang time and then an error. I have downloads enabled in the tools internet options security tab menu and am unsure why i'm getting this problem.

I recently installed SP3 and IE8 along with all updates. All went well except now Hibernate and Standby often kill the system including the cursor. If I boot and try Hibernate or Standby it usually works, but if I run for a while and try them they hang the system. The problem did not exist before I installed SP3 and IE8.

in the last few days it's hanging for 20-40 seconds and i see 'connecting to js.forrestersurveys.com' at the bottom of the browser (firefox 1.0.4) window -if it was just for the initial logon, i wouldn't mind, but every link is the same.

Just installed xp on a computer that had previously had xp on it, but was running real slow, so I did a fresh install and now it will not boot up past the loading screen. I have tried using fdisk to erase the disk compleletly but it has not helped one bit.

I currently update my Windows XP home edition os to SP2 after that when I on the desktop right clicking my system will hanged and i have to terminate it with task manager and re open it.
what i must do to fix this problem.I deleted the $uninstall..$ folders and can not reinstall my windows.

I have Adobe Acrobat 5.0 installed on Windows XP. Everything has been fine for years until a few days ago. When I try to right click on a document file on my desktop to copy it, for example, I receive an error message which says: "Your system clock appears to have been set back, possibly in an attempt to defeat the security system on this program. Please correct your system clock before trying to run this program again. I started getting this message when my Windows XP is loading. Right after the Windows XP screen, a box pops up with "Isass.exe system error - object not found" message. When I click on OK, the system restarts and it goes over and over. The same happens in Safe Mode. I found out it is a virus or a worm and there is a way to fix it, by installing a second copy of Windows from a CD, starting it and cleaning up the original installation. For me the problem is that my HD is almost full (has less than 6% free space) and it's not enough to do a second installation.What I thought of doing was to install a second HD, install Windows XP on it and boot the pc from that dirve to clean up the original operating system. The question I have is whether this can work. The second HD will be set up as slave and I am not sure if the system can boot from a slave if it detects original installation on master HD.If it wasn't for some files that I really need from my pc I would probably just reformat my C drive and reinstall Windows.

when you open Event Viewer and click on System, you will see a list of information like the time you last shut down the computer. Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002, Dell Dimension 2400. I can no longer open any e-mail that is sent to me with a link in it to view further information. All I get is a large, blank, white screen. Not sure what I have done. And, on another note, I have lost the bar at the bottom of the computer that shows you, with green bars in a small rectangle, when a site is loading. I have tried system restore but am told that no changes have been made to my computer.

I've gotten to the pulling the hair out stage with this. I have no right click ability in my standard PS2 mouse. At first I thought the mouse itself had failed but a scan with CCleaner's Reg Cleaner revealed a problem with the mouse shell. The .dll in question is:pxwma.dllAn SFC /SCANNOW and numerous reboots have failed to fix the issue, as has a re-installation of the driver or logging into Windows Update and checking for Hardware Updates (none available).I attempted to re-register the .dll but the response was that the module for it did not exist. I therefore download pxwma.dll and coppied it to my System 32 folder and tried to register it again. The response this time was

I run windows XP and, after several years with no audio problems, I suddenly lost audio.I checked my sound settings and everything was fine. I tried to do a 'system restore' but the system restore does not work. It will not allow me to click on a previous date; when I tried "help" in 'SR', that did not work either.I've rebooted several times to no avail. Earlier in the day I had downloaded a new program called 'seekmore'...thinking that may be the problem, I uninstalled it, but the audio is still gone. I ran a Norton Scan... still no success.

When I open a folder (MyComputer, for example), and try to right-click or double-click an icon to open it- it does not work. When I right-click the icon, NOTHING happens. When I double-click the icon, the icon gets highlighted, but the program or other folder does not open. I checked in the folder options, and it is set up so that when you double-click an icon, it opens the program. But the weird thing about it is that if I try to double-click or right-click an icon on my desktop.. it works like it should. So this really just doesn't make sense.

Many times when I single click on an item with my mouse, whether it be a program, a shortcut, or whatever, more often than not , it acts as a double click. When I double cliclk, it opens up the program twice more often than mot, also. I have the Folder options set up to double click so I don't know what's going on. I regularly run AdAdware, Spybot, and I have ZoneAlarm Suite running all the time

I was using my comp yesterday and the right & left click functions of the mouse stopped working in IE. They worked fine on the task bar. I rebooted and it took almost 15 minutes to come back up. CPU usage is at 100% all the time. Needless to say it barely runs it's so slow but everything seems to work. I rebooted into safe mode and cpu usage is normal but I can't seem to find the hang. I also ran msconfig and disabled all the startup items and service items, XP seems to start. things occur normally up to the splash screen, but just after that is where it hangs.

I have an HP d530c system running Win XP SP2 which will hang 8 times out of 10 when a CD or DVD is inserted. Running DVD and CD writers. Have changed all drives/cables/DMA settings. If autorun is disabled in registry system works fine.

After doing a fdisk and repartioning my hard drive I put in the WIN XP CD to reinstall the OS. It goes to the blue screen that says WINDOWS SETUP. On the bottom task bar it says Windows is loading setup. It's not loading at all. It hangs there and I have to reboot and it does it again. I havae changed hard drives and memory sticks and the same problem.

I've been racking my brain on this issue for months with no success. So I have a AMD Athlon XP 2200+ processor running on a Gigabyte mobo (I can get the model no. if needed) and a BFG GeForce 5500 AGP card. I have 2 Crucial DDR-333 512M sticks and a WD 80GB SATA drive.Now when I run Windows and basic apps(IE, Outlook, Firefox, etc) But when I run a few games like World of Warcraft, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth, etc. Occasionally it will just hang the PC. No error, just looping sound and freeze frame.

I have a Pentium 2.7gHz, and Radeon 9550. A short while ago, my Pc started to hang (at random times, usually when I first turned it on in the morning, it would hang at the XP Load screen, sometimes at the logon screen, and other times just during normal use.)
This problem became more prevalent, so i decided to try a repair install. It now hangs during this install as well. This computer is currently useless.

I have a HP computer with Windows software and starting yesterday it started to hang up and stall. We have to manually turn the computer off and back on and it takes several minutes before it comes to the main screen. I did a system restore, turned off the screensaver, ran a virus check with Norton 2004, and it is still occuring and has hung up 5 times today. We do not have internet access to this computer, so I do not think there is a virus on it.
