Many times when I single click on an item with my mouse, whether it be a program, a shortcut, or whatever, more often than not , it acts as a double click. When I double cliclk, it opens up the program twice more often than mot, also. I have the Folder options set up to double click so I don't know what's going on. I regularly run AdAdware, Spybot, and I have ZoneAlarm Suite running all the time
Today I turned my computer on and everything was ok but my mouse. It double clicks on a single click. Like to open IE on my desktop i only clik it once and it opens
About every 10 to 20 mouse clicks the click is not recognized by the system. This can occur for desktop clicks or in any application. The computer vendor suggests that I reinstall the operating system (XP) to correct the problem.
When trying to follow a hyperlink in an incoming e-mail, I left click the hyperlink but nothing ever happens. If I retype that hyperlink in the "address" block of IE, the transfer is completed. This happens only in IE but not another browser.
Every once in a while my pc acts really nutty. What happens is that I'll go to open a program (lets say Nero Burning Rom) and on a single double click Nero will open up 70+ times. Furthermore, it makes mostly all of my programs act up when this starts happening. For example, when I click the arrow in the system tray it expands and collapses tons of times before it stops. If I open Firefox my homepage sort of half loads over and over and won't stop. MSN Messenger opens up then freaks out when I put the pointer in its window (this happens in the above Firefox example too). All of this activity makes the pc unusable until it all stops. Speaking of when it stops, it does't stop with a restart, it just stops mid session. I thought it could be a mouse problem because the trackball I use is pretty ancient and I figured it just might have just petered out finally, but then I tried another mouse that I found laying around and it did the same things. One other thing I've noticed it (the trackball) doing is when it's not being used the pointer slowly crawls towards the top of the screen. I've run my anti-virus and all three of my spyware programs and none of them find anything out of the ordinary. So what could be causing this? I'm starting to think it might be my mouse port, but how would I find this out?
Whenever I click on anything with my mouse, most of the times it automatically gets double clicked when I actually do a single click. This doesnt happen all the times but most of the times. I even checked my system for any present Virus with updated ZA Internet Security 7, but found none.
how to stop double clicking on every icon and that'll probably mess you up sometimes. Well you think that you've clicked on it by opening it and you still waiting like an idiot sitting at the computer waiting for something to happen. Here's a solution for you: Click on the START MENU > CONTROL PANEL > NOTE: If you're in the new Windows XP mode in Control Panel - Click on the Appearance and Themes icon - If you have in the Classic mode then just simply click on the - FOLDER OPTIONS> Now you see the Click items as follows - go down to the little of Single Click to open an item - and if you want to you can click on one of Underline..... tools --doesn't do much though!
When I open a folder (MyComputer, for example), and try to right-click or double-click an icon to open it- it does not work. When I right-click the icon, NOTHING happens. When I double-click the icon, the icon gets highlighted, but the program or other folder does not open. I checked in the folder options, and it is set up so that when you double-click an icon, it opens the program. But the weird thing about it is that if I try to double-click or right-click an icon on my desktop.. it works like it should. So this really just doesn't make sense.
My intellimouse works correctly for awhile then double click fails. When this occurs the mouse control panel fails to open. Shutting down and restart corrects the problem-but only for awhile and then the same thing happens over again. I reloaded software to no avail. any help?
I was tooling around Abode Photoshop, when suddenly my computer stopped responding to left-clicks, so I was stuck inside the program.I tried hitting ctrl alt delete but I couldn't force Photoshop to end because my computer wouldn't respond to left clicks. So I hit the reset button and when my computer booted up, nothing would respond to left clicks.Right clicks worked, however.I tried a bunch of stuff, like uninstalling Photoshop and using a system restore, but nothing worked. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, my left-clicking ability returned.
My parents have a gateway home computer upgraded to Vista with SP1. Yesterday, my dad downloaded jzip and winrar and a free video editing software from AVS, I believe it is AVS 4 Editor. Soon after that whenever I did a right click, the response seemed to lag and slow to come up. Any selection I clicked from the right click selection would seem to hang there on the screen even though the computer processed it. It goes away after I right click again but not select. It only happens when I right click on the desktop, start menu, taskbar. When I right click in my browser firefox, it is alright. I unistalled AVS4 but the problem persists. All my programs are running fine. The rick click slowness is just nagging.
As a windows 2000 user, I am pazzled by the fact that when I click on folders in Explorer Folder View this causes the directory to expand. In win2000 we normally need to double click, and I must say, I do like it that way.
After reading through the posts, my problem seems so minor. But to me, it's extremely annoying!A search didn't list my problem. My folder setting (Open each folder in the same window) doesn't seem to work anymore. No matter how often I make the setting, clicking on a sub-folder opens that sub-folder in a new window. If I go back to the Folder Options window, it shows that the same window option has been chosen. I have no idea what I might have done to cause the changed behavior. And yes, in the View tab of Folder Options, I did choose Apply to all Folders.
When i play/single click some video files (Xvid) explorer crashes, while its trying to build the thumbnail. These files are not in the my documents folder and can be played through one program that i have (VideoLAN)but most programs ie win media player cant play it.
I need to know if you can change the select time in single-click mode? Because as soon as my pointer moves over a file, it selects it. This is extremely irritating, when you only want to select certain files and then try to drag them to another window. Because as you move across the other files, they become selected also!! So, is there anyway to increase the amount of time that it takes for your pointer to select a file, because I hate double-click mode!
I got a new computer and I have been having problems with my mouse. I have a simple optical wired mouse. During random times, my mouse click freezes, although my mouse can move and I can use the key board at this time, I cannot click or focus anything. To fix the problem I can control alt delete and exit the Task Manager, this fixes the problem.
I'm running XP pro on a Dell Latitude 610. Whenever I double-click on an icon in My Computer, instead of opening the folder or drive, a Search Results window opens. If I right-click on an icon, Search... is bold and at the top of the menu list instead of Open. Can someone please tell me how to restore Open as the default double-click action?
when I double click nothing comes up even tho I've done searches previously. I think it might be something to do with Cookies but I don't know enough about them to solve the problem. My OS is Windows XP.

I can't open my Local Drive thru double click. I think its a malware or something but can anyone of you guys teach me how to get rid of it. My anti-virus and anti-spyware can't seem to detect it. This Windows Script Host message pop-ups everytime I double click on Drive C: Can not find script file "C:LibraryBoys6519.dll.vbs".
When opening my hard drives with a double click they all go into the search mode in lieu of opening. I have noticed that "SEARCH" is listed first and "OPEN" second using the right mouse button.
i recently had to format my hard drive and reinstall windows xp pro.after i reloaded and reudated everything i ran into a problem. once i turn the computer on and double click on my computer it takes about 5 minutes to find the contents.once the contents are found i can close my computer and double click it again it shows up right away.it seems to me that when the computer shuts down and then i restart that particular path to my computer is lost and it has to try to find it everytime i start the computer. dont know where to look or have any idea why this would be happening.
I don't know why, but every time I double click on a HDD, a device with removable storage or a CD drive, the search window comes up. Which means I have to right click it and go to 'Open
I accidentally screwed up my double click speed. Where should the bar be for the default double click speed or is there a registry key I can change for this.
This all started with iTunes - I could not get it to run - I have installed and uninstalled a few times. I still can't run the .exe file for iTunes; I was planning to wait awhile and when I had some time I was going to call Apple; iTunes isn't that important to me. But, today I tried to run a different downloaded .exe and it wouldn't run either.I went to the Microsoft site to see if I could find any info about installing programs. From what I found, there are a few ways to troubleshoot/fix installation problems. Here are the ones I found and my comments on why they didn't work for me:Reinstall the InstallScript engine Click Start, click All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer. Open the following folder: C:Program FilesInstallShieldDeveloperRedistLanguage Independenti386.Double-click Isscrpt.msi. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
