When i play/single click some video files (Xvid) explorer crashes, while its trying to build the thumbnail. These files are not in the my documents folder and can be played through one program that i have (VideoLAN)but most programs ie win media player cant play it.
View 7 RepliesAs a windows 2000 user, I am pazzled by the fact that when I click on folders in Explorer Folder View this causes the directory to expand. In win2000 we normally need to double click, and I must say, I do like it that way.

I am building a new PC and had it running fine until I just noticed recently that whenever I right-click on the desktop to view Properties, Explorer.exe crashes hard and I have to reboot. The only thing I have installed recently is Office 2007 and SP3. Before I start uninstalling all of that I thought I'd ask the group if they have seen this recently. I searched for the error here and only found reports from pre SP3 users so I thought I'd ask first.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhenever i open an explorer and right click on a file, it will terminate all open explorers as well as take down my launch bar (which will subsequently be rebuilt though). What i want to do is to delete a file, and it does not work with pressing delete either (same effect). But, as i said, the whole conext menu wont open. I am not really aware of newly installed programs, could be wrong on that one though.

This happened after booting up my pc today (running XP Pro SP3).
I had a malware infection days ago and removed it almost completely (apart from random tabs popping up in Firefox).
Last night I ran O&O Defrag and it finished without any problems or errors.
Many times when I single click on an item with my mouse, whether it be a program, a shortcut, or whatever, more often than not , it acts as a double click. When I double cliclk, it opens up the program twice more often than mot, also. I have the Folder options set up to double click so I don't know what's going on. I regularly run AdAdware, Spybot, and I have ZoneAlarm Suite running all the time

View 5 Replies View RelatedOkay so it seems that whenever i try to handle a big file. Or something that seems to "stress" my hard drive. my Explorer goes crazy. First i get an error like this:I would of took a screenshot but when trying to paste the print screen it just says Error copying to clipboard. Asif it should read something there but it doesnt. Even the "OK" Button doesnt say anything but i just press it anyway.All text dissapears from my icons and all buttons and tabs and stuff. I also cannot start any program.. Starting task manager gives taskmgr.exe - Application Error : The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000012d). Click on OK to terminate the application.

My operating system is Window 2000.Last Friday my laptop was infected with UnSpyPC, a Quicklink toolbar and 6 large icons.Thanks to HiJackThis and Spyware removal programs etc I think I have gotten rid of the problematic crap. However now I seem to have ended up with a few corrupt Folders/Files.Whenever I try to run a Norton Antivirus scan or any number of Spyware removal programs such as Spybot, Spysweeper, Ewido, Ad-Aware etc they all get stuck or crash on one particular general data Folder. Explorer.exe also crashes and generally freezes the whole system when trying to access or search this folder

So whenever I open a video file a small window pops up titled Windows Explorer stating that "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the Inconvenience." When I close that the window from which I opened the video file closes. However the video file stays open and I can watch it just fine. But other times it will also close the video file too.

when I try and open up certain folders that have pictures and video from my digital camera I have uploaded whenever I try and open the video files or hover over them I get an error message reading:

After I click OK it closes any & every explorer window I have on the screen. Including the one with the video files in it.
Every once in a while my pc acts really nutty. What happens is that I'll go to open a program (lets say Nero Burning Rom) and on a single double click Nero will open up 70+ times. Furthermore, it makes mostly all of my programs act up when this starts happening. For example, when I click the arrow in the system tray it expands and collapses tons of times before it stops. If I open Firefox my homepage sort of half loads over and over and won't stop. MSN Messenger opens up then freaks out when I put the pointer in its window (this happens in the above Firefox example too). All of this activity makes the pc unusable until it all stops. Speaking of when it stops, it does't stop with a restart, it just stops mid session. I thought it could be a mouse problem because the trackball I use is pretty ancient and I figured it just might have just petered out finally, but then I tried another mouse that I found laying around and it did the same things. One other thing I've noticed it (the trackball) doing is when it's not being used the pointer slowly crawls towards the top of the screen. I've run my anti-virus and all three of my spyware programs and none of them find anything out of the ordinary. So what could be causing this? I'm starting to think it might be my mouse port, but how would I find this out?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter reading through the posts, my problem seems so minor. But to me, it's extremely annoying!A search didn't list my problem. My folder setting (Open each folder in the same window) doesn't seem to work anymore. No matter how often I make the setting, clicking on a sub-folder opens that sub-folder in a new window. If I go back to the Folder Options window, it shows that the same window option has been chosen. I have no idea what I might have done to cause the changed behavior. And yes, in the View tab of Folder Options, I did choose Apply to all Folders.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to know if you can change the select time in single-click mode? Because as soon as my pointer moves over a file, it selects it. This is extremely irritating, when you only want to select certain files and then try to drag them to another window. Because as you move across the other files, they become selected also!! So, is there anyway to increase the amount of time that it takes for your pointer to select a file, because I hate double-click mode!

It used to be just fine, until I installed some pay-for-viewing add program. I have uninstalled it since then, but the slowness remains. When a user is editing documents in Word 2003 from a network share, the Windows Explorer then shuts down and refreshes the desktop. The error message above is in the Application Event Log. the Event ID is 1000. Done some searches and tried a few things but still user gets this error. After this error in the Event Log another message is "The shell stopped unexpectedly and Explorer.exe was restarted. The Event ID is 1002 for this one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis has been happening on and off while playing games and pretty well only then. I don't get any error messages or anything of the like, my computer just freezes and that's that. I've checked my video card for overheating by using the nVidia monitor program and it runs fairly cool, I guess i should double check what the numbers are under stress but I don't see any artifacts or other weird images on my screen that would suggest a dying card (i use a bfg 8800gts 640mb). My motherboard also runs pretty cool too so i would highly doubt it's a heating issue there either.just recently i had to replace the motherboard due to failure and i fear whatever is causing these crashes may have caused my previous motherboard failure and possibly this new one to fail as well.

Recently when I try to import video file into my application, my laptop, processing percentage goes up to 98%, and the application just freezes up. I also tried the Microsoft movie maker software and I get the same result. I was wondering if I need to reinstall the application or there is something that my laptop is missing.
