When I double cliclk, it opens up the program twice more often than mot, also. I have the Folder options set up to double click so I don't know what's going on. View 7 Replies View RelatedEvery once in a while my pc acts really nutty. What happens is that I'll go to open a program (lets say Nero Burning Rom) and on a single double click Nero will open up 70+ times. Furthermore, it makes mostly all of my programs act up when this starts happening. For example, when I click the arrow in the system tray it expands and collapses tons of times before it stops. If I open Firefox my homepage sort of half loads over and over and won't stop. MSN Messenger opens up then freaks out when I put the pointer in its window (this happens in the above Firefox example too). All of this activity makes the pc unusable until it all stops. Speaking of when it stops, it does't stop with a restart, it just stops mid session. I thought it could be a mouse problem because the trackball I use is pretty ancient and I figured it just might have just petered out finally, but then I tried another mouse that I found laying around and it did the same things. One other thing I've noticed it (the trackball) doing is when it's not being used the pointer slowly crawls towards the top of the screen. I've run my anti-virus and all three of my spyware programs and none of them find anything out of the ordinary. So what could be causing this? I'm starting to think it might be my mouse port, but how would I find this out?

This doesnt happen all the times but most of the times. I even checked my system for any present Virus with updated ZA Internet Security 7, but found none.

Well you think that you've clicked on it by opening it and you still waiting like an idiot sitting at the computer waiting for something to happen. Here's a solution for you: Click on the START MENU > CONTROL PANEL > NOTE: If you're in the new Windows XP mode in Control Panel - Click on the Appearance and Themes icon - If you have in the Classic mode then just simply click on the - FOLDER OPTIONS> Now you see the Click items as follows - go down to the little of Single Click to open an item - and if you want to you can click on one of Underline..... tools --doesn't do much though!

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to open one of My Folders (One that I added to my desktop with application I added to it) with a double left click a search results window opens instead of the folder opening and displaying the contents of the folder with things I've put into it. If I right click on one of my folders and go down and left click on open the folder will open and the contents displayed as I expect (The first opetion displayed is a search after I right click). Any other folder including My Documnets folder will open the folder and display the contents correctly.At one time it used to work correcly and its not a major issue but I would sure like it fixed > Any ideas?

It has only been a problem in the last couple of months or so.Someone suggested I had a virus but virus checker has not revealed anything. I have just changed to macafee virus in case the free one was missing something and the problem appears worse now. This is the third time I've started this message.

Shutting down and restart corrects the problem-but only for awhile and then the same thing happens over again. I reloaded software to no avail. any help?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a folder (MyComputer, for example), and try to right-click or double-click an icon to open it- it does not work. When I right-click the icon, NOTHING happens. When I double-click the icon, the icon gets highlighted, but the program or other folder does not open. I checked in the folder options, and it is set up so that when you double-click an icon, it opens the program. But the weird thing about it is that if I try to double-click or right-click an icon on my desktop.. it works like it should. So this really just doesn't make sense.

During random times, my mouse click freezes, although my mouse can move and I can use the key board at this time, I cannot click or focus anything. View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter reading through the posts, my problem seems so minor. But to me, it's extremely annoying!A search didn't list my problem. My folder setting (Open each folder in the same window) doesn't seem to work anymore. No matter how often I make the setting, clicking on a sub-folder opens that sub-folder in a new window. If I go back to the Folder Options window, it shows that the same window option has been chosen. I have no idea what I might have done to cause the changed behavior. And yes, in the View tab of Folder Options, I did choose Apply to all Folders.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI need to know if you can change the select time in single-click mode? Because as soon as my pointer moves over a file, it selects it. This is extremely irritating, when you only want to select certain files and then try to drag them to another window. Because as you move across the other files, they become selected also!! So, is there anyway to increase the amount of time that it takes for your pointer to select a file, because I hate double-click mode!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've used AVG Free 8.0, Spybot - Search and Destroy, Windows Defender, firewall on, all my anti-virus stuff updated, so I don't know what's wrong. I've physically checked my mouse, cleaned it etc., didn't find anything wrong. I also played with mouse settings, and did the little test thing to open and close the folder, and it still double clicked. I also play Call of Duty 4, and my weapon will like 'jam' up. I have found some suspicious things, like some 'Virtumonde' and 'DoubleClick' thing on my virus scans, and the DoubleClick one says it is like some tracking cookie. (No matter how many times I delete it, it comes back.) I can't tell you how annoying it is when I have a window behind a window and it exits them both out because my mouse suddenly double clicks. I also know I am not PHYSICALLY double clicking it instead of clicking it once.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running XP home SP2. I have MS Office 2003 with all updates. The problem I'm having is when I double click on any MS office file (powerpoint, word, excel, etc), it takes about 1-3 minutes to open. When I look at the task manager, the CPU is 99% idle and no task appears to be using many resources. It's not the anti-virus SW because I've removed it from the system and still have this problem. It's also not network related because I've removed it from all networks and still have the problem. If I open the program that the file is associated with (ie MS word for a *.doc file) and then select file/open, it opens fine. I don't think it's just a MS office problem, because the same thing occurs when I try to click on a weblink within a document or application. It takes 1-3 minutes for IE explorer to open and go to the web page. I think it may be due to some security patch, but I don't know which one.

Unfortunately after deleting this I can't open my Drive C using double click unless I used right click then choose open then it will open. Here is the error message that came up. The window name is "Windows Script Host" the message is Can not find script file "C:FS6519.dll.vbs". How do I fix this so that I can use the double click again to open my Drive C:.

I can't double click on my IE icon with out gettign a send to MS error. Same error happens when i go to start Explorer but i can go to my computer or somethign liek that and use that as a browser but only thing is if i click on somethign liek a link for say my explorer will then crash and once again i would be confronted by a send to MS error.
