My intellimouse works correctly for awhile then double click fails. When this occurs the mouse control panel fails to open. Shutting down and restart corrects the problem-but only for awhile and then the same thing happens over again. I reloaded software to no avail. any help?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had some spyware/viruses/malware recently, and they've now all been cleaned up with internet security software, but I still have a lingering problem: when I double-click on a folder, instead of the folder opening, a new window opens and it's a search window, with the destination folder (ie the one I just clicked on) as a value in the parameter "look in:". The only way I can just open a folder is to right-click, and select open.
When I right-click on a folder, the menu reads: "Search (bolded) / Open / Explore" etc. which doesn't seem right.
I tried to fix it by changing some options in Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types. There are two kinds of folder, "File Folder" and "Folder". In the advanced options for "File Folder", the only action it lists is "find"... I'm not sure if this is where the problem is or if this is normal? I tried to add a new action, but it wanted me to select an application to perform the action and I have no idea... In the advanced options for "Folder", it looks to be normal, it lists the actions "explore" and "open" (bolded).
The only folder that seems unaffected by this problem is the "Documents" folder on the desktop, and any shortcuts that point to folders.
Whenever i doubleclick on any of the Drives(C: , D: ) a windows search window appears, if i have to open i have to rightclick and select open...also i observed that when i right click on my c drive or d drive the first option i have is "search" in bold. and then the next option is open. whereas for anyother folder open is my first option when i right click and in bold!

it had multiple files showing bad, so rather than chase them one at a time for an unknowable number of days, I decided to create a new directory and install fresh copy of WinXP Pro
That looked like it was going to work but after being up on the initial boot, wobbly, for about 45 minutes, something caused a freeze, and I was toasted after that. Same routine again: bootup, get error "Windows failed to start because the following file is missing or corrupt"
When I right click the "Windows" directory in Windows Explorer and select "search" and do a search for "Hosts", the search finds the "Hosts" file in the "C:WINDOWSsystem32driversetc" directory. All well and good because that's what I want and expect.
However, when I right click on the C: drive itself in Windows Explorer and select "search" and do a search for "Hosts", the search fails to find the Hosts file in the "...driversetc." directory. It does find
hosts files elsewhere. For example it finds "Hosts.txt" and "Hosts" files that I placed on my desktop.
When I right click a drive in Windows Explorer and select "search", I damn well want to search the entire drive. Unfortunately, Windows has apparently defaulted to some kind of limited search. How do I force

Many times when I single click on an item with my mouse, whether it be a program, a shortcut, or whatever, more often than not , it acts as a double click. When I double cliclk, it opens up the program twice more often than mot, also. I have the Folder options set up to double click so I don't know what's going on. I regularly run AdAdware, Spybot, and I have ZoneAlarm Suite running all the time
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm currently running Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and, as I'm a Military man not a computer-genius, I am not able to figure out exactly what the problem is upon when I boot my computer. Upon starting up my edition of Microsoft XP (running on a Celeron D, HP Computer) it fails to load/open as fast it normally would. It normally takes about 15 minutes for things to start working until this folder pops-up.Now, I've been hesitant in deleting the folder (so that my computer loads faster) but I'm not quite sure about its contents and don't want to delete the folder unless I know exactly what its contents are. Above is a preview of what the folder contains within it, the folder is named "Common" and that is how it has appeared.When I first got the computer (about a year ago) the folder never appeared to launch during the starting-up period when you first turn the computer on. Until this folder appears, no other program will run and the lag on the computer is enormous. Is there something in which I can do to delete this folder (mind you, I don't know the folders actual location) to stop it from slowing my computer down and causing so many lag issues?

Ran TweakUI to fix folder icons, but here is what happened. double clicking a folder opened the search window. So i went into file types and created a new action, and pointed it at explorer.exe from my windows directory. Now, the problem is, when i double click it opens the folder in a new window, instead of the same.
when I am in the advanced settings of file types (tools-folder options-file types) the Edit and Remove buttons will not light up, but i am the administrator. Restore defaults doesn't work.
Is there a backend way to fix this anyone knows of, short of reformatting ?? system restore to a previous date did nothing.
Whenever I click on anything with my mouse, most of the times it automatically gets double clicked when I actually do a single click. This doesnt happen all the times but most of the times. I even checked my system for any present Virus with updated ZA Internet Security 7, but found none.

The problem is, in doing so I must have enabled some weird seach option, because when I double-click either drive (C: or external) in My Computer it brings up a search window with that drive selected as where I want to search. Unfortunately after deleting this I can't open my Drive C using double click unless I used right click then choose open then it will open. Here is the error message that came up. The window name is "Windows Script Host" the message is Can not find script file "C:FS6519.dll.vbs". How do I fix this so that I can use the double click again to open my Drive C:.

I have a dell d520. Recently, after XP updated, I stopped being able to double click the flash drive icon to open it. I can open it by right clicking and choosing explore or open, and the auto open still works when I first plug it in. It works just fine on other computers. I've tried error-checking to no avail.
