when i am double clicking it takes more time to open a file ( any type).write click also takes more time. i have a lot of application installed in my computer thats why i cannot reformat.

For example, I double-click on a PDF, word, excel, txt, jpg, file, it takes between 45 seconds and sometimes even 75 seconds for the application to open. If I however open the aplication first, even by double-clicking the desktop shortcut for the application, it opens immediately. From there, I can locate the file to open which also opens immediately. Also, right-clicking on a document takes also 45-75 seconds for the context menu to appear. Sometimes it doesn't even appear. I've tried many "cleaners" out there such as Ccleaner, registryfix, Cleanup! and others. I've also permanently deleted temp files, temp internet files, cookies, history, files, etc.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have this so called virus/worm "VBS/Solow-B" or FS6519.dll.vbs and I managed to delete it by searching thru the net on how to manually delete this worm. Unfortunately after deleting this I can't open my Drive C using double click unless I used right click then choose open then it will open. Here is the error message that came up. The window name is "Windows Script Host" the message is Can not find script file "C:FS6519.dll.vbs". How do I fix this so that I can use the double click again to open my Drive C:.

I have a dell d520. Recently, after XP updated, I stopped being able to double click the flash drive icon to open it. I can open it by right clicking and choosing explore or open, and the auto open still works when I first plug it in. It works just fine on other computers. I've tried error-checking to no avail. However, if I right-click the program icon and click on RUN AS, it brings up a gray window asking for a user name and password to gain access to the program. View 6 Replies View RelatedI had some spyware/viruses/malware recently, and they've now all been cleaned up with internet security software, but I still have a lingering problem: when I double-click on a folder, instead of the folder opening, a new window opens and it's a search window, with the destination folder (ie the one I just clicked on) as a value in the parameter "look in:". The only way I can just open a folder is to right-click, and select open.
When I right-click on a folder, the menu reads: "Search (bolded) / Open / Explore" etc. which doesn't seem right.
I tried to fix it by changing some options in Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types. There are two kinds of folder, "File Folder" and "Folder". In the advanced options for "File Folder", the only action it lists is "find"... I'm not sure if this is where the problem is or if this is normal? I tried to add a new action, but it wanted me to select an application to perform the action and I have no idea... In the advanced options for "Folder", it looks to be normal, it lists the actions "explore" and "open" (bolded).
The only folder that seems unaffected by this problem is the "Documents" folder on the desktop, and any shortcuts that point to folders.
I'm having a minor problem with my 'my computer'.. In the my computer window, when i double click on any diskdrive, the diskdrive window opens in a altogether new window(previously it used to open in the same window). I did something in folder options(I dont know what i exactly i did) and from then its behaving like this. But when i open any folder in the disk drive window,it opens in d same window.So the problem is only with the 'My computer' window.

Sometimes they open fast but most of the times I have this long delay. Also printing files is a another task that takes a long time. It seems that the printer isn't recoginzed for at least 15 seconds. In any case, I'm now using a freshly installed version of XP, and everything has been running perfectly for about 2 weeks. Suddenly, this one problem reappears: The File Open / Save As dialog box (aka Windows Common Control / comctl32.dll) takes forever to open (20 seconds to 60 seconds). I just did a chkdsk and defrag, and that did not solve the problem. Also, there are no network drives connected which could be slowing things down. This happens in both MS programs (such as Notepad) and 3rd party programs (such as Firefox).

What i want to do is to delete a file, and it does not work with pressing delete either (same effect). But, as i said, the whole conext menu wont open. I have a cable modem with other computer on it and none of them have problems.
When I click on the Icon, the hour glass comes up for a few seconds and then goes away, there does not seem to be any activity on the HD and then it all opens and works fine until it is closed again...

It can take anywhere from 10-40 seconds to do this. My drive is 40% free.
My computer takes a long time when I try to delete a file (doesn't matter what size or kind of file). Once I click on the file and hit delete the hard drive starts going and after a while I get a confirmation message "Are you sure you want to send file.ext to the recycle bin?" I click yes and then it's hung up again for a while as I watch pieces of paper float accross the screen from a file folder to a recycle bin, and then it finally deletes. This is a new problem on my old machine.I also can't open the recylcing bin, but I can empty it. When I click on the recycle bin it opens a window and shows the "flashlight" icon, the hard drive goes, and it never finished it's process, never displays the recycling bin contents.

When I double-click the icon, the icon gets highlighted, but the program or other folder does not open. But the weird thing about it is that if I try to double-click or right-click an icon on my desktop.. it works like it should. So this really just doesn't make sense.
