My computer often hangs whenever I play games. After it hangs for 3 times, my monitor will go black and the yellow light will bleep and it will restart by itself. This annoys me very much as I play games a lot.I've checked for viruses,trojan,ad-aware,spyware etc.
I used Ad-aware,SpyBot,PC Doctor and all of it says I'm clean.
A few months ago I built a system for a friend of mine. I had the system running stable @ 2.4 GHz (memory on a 5/4 divider, if I remeber correctly) for a week before I delivered it to him. By stable I mean dual prime overnight, memtest, and hours of COD2 without crashing. Now he has had it for a few months and he is reporting that randomly it will completely shutdown. He primarily uses it to play WoW and so far that is the only time it has crashed. It has not crashed during any other activity but he really doesn't use it for much else. It will usually crash 5 minutes into game play and after a restart it will be stable for the rest of the day. Ocassionally it will crash a few hours into game play. When the behavior first started it would BSOD. Now it just turns off with no warning. After restart it works fine. When it shuts down the standby LED on the MB remains lit but the DRAM power LED does not. I have updated the Graphics drivers to the latest 90 series beta drivers. That did not affect the problem.
My son was playing a game on the web and his computer crashed. He now get a blue screen but can get to the MS-DOS prompt. He had updated his antivirus just before playing.
Few days back when I tried to play the game" Texas Holdem Poker 3D deluxe edition" my suddenly turned off (Not Restart). This happened after 10 min or so. Whenever I tried to play the game my PC turned off. I thought there was a problem with the game. But yesterday when I tried an old game Brian Lara Cricket 99 SE (a 3D game) after playing for 8-10 min my pc turned off again. This happens every time I try to play. When I turn my PC on I get scan disk during start up. What could be the problem?? I can't play.My PC config(quite old): P4 2.66 Ghz, 1GB DDR.
My hardware: Opteron 170 _Stock settings Biostar N4SLI Mobo 2GB pc3200 _Stock timings SB Audigy with newest drivers for XP ATI x1950xt with newest Catalyst's (7.4's)
Sometimes when i play a game or wake the computer up from sleep mode, the computer screen goes to come back on and instead, the screen goes black, with monitor power light flickering and a loud piercing sound through my speakers. One of the times it happened, the ATI VPU Recovery came up and asked me to submit the crash report through email, but that only came up once, the other times, there has been no warning, no recovery, no errors, just blank.
Ok, so recently i experienced this typing problem where typing took up a bunch of CPU in the task manager and lagged out everything. When i would try to play a game for example; i would press and hold w to walk and my computer would freeze until i let go, stopping all the video and sound. So i went into the computer and took out the CMOS battery for a minute or two put it back in and restarted my computer. NO TYPING PROBLEMS! But then on my next boot up they come back again?

I recently designed and built a top of the line comp for my dad. So all hardware is brand new. When i play the online game Shattered Galaxy I recieve the blue screen which the computer either freezes or restarts. Also fire fox just recieved a random error when i was posting this but that is another story. I have updated the video drivers. I took a picture of the blue screen so i will post exactlty what it said hoping that it will help.
My laptop have been having these random slowdowns / stutterings. It is characterized by the mouse cursor acting jumpy or actual slowdown when I'm watching a video or playing a game. After a couple of minutes pass, the slowdowns seem to be gone. However, sometimes they do return later on an arbitrary notice. The slowdowns seem to occur when I initially open a program such as Windows Media Player, Winamp, Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0, or playing a game such as Guild Wars (slowdowns also occur within the game when I open and close the chatbox). As I mentioned before, the slowdowns will cease after some time is spent with the program opened. In addition, start up seems to take a bit longer than it used to be.
I have used spybot, ad aware, McAfee virus scan, disk defragment, and disk space clean up. I have also used registry mechanic and other optimizing programs, but the problem is still prevailent. I doubt that it's my laptop temperature as it never really gets all that hot.
Recently Windows has been hanging a little after closing Firefox and/or Windows Live Mail. For example, if I close Firefox or WM (Windows Mail) and click on the Start button or anything for that matter Windows will hang maybe 2 seconds before it loads it. It didn't used to do this. I've ran anti virus/spyware programs (Which returned no real threats) and Ccleaner. As for the game, it's particulary only one as I notice lags in a certain way that never had before. It's America's Army and every so often I will get this lag that will last for a few seconds and just go away. It will make the game real sluggish but only for about 4 or so seconds but gets quite annoying as this didn't used to happen before.
I have successfully cloned my primary c partition of a dual boot system with XP Pro on the 1st primary partition c: and XP Pro on the 2nd primary partition as d: I can boot into my XP on the c: drive with no problem, but when I attempt to boot into my XP on the D drive it hangs on the blue screen right before booting into the user profiles. And believe it or not it continuously loops making the windows startup sound and the shutdown sound. It does the same in safe mode. I will try to explain the process on what I did so it can help you experts figure out this dilemma that I'm having. My old drive an IDE 100GB IBM primary drive was partitioned into 3 parts: c: 30GB FAT32 primary d: 30GB FAT32 " e: 30gb FAT32 "
I was playing a game and I rebooted my computer. When i went to start it it went to the a blank blue screen before the account screen in the beginning of XP. I know i can restore to new but i will have lost so much information that it would take about 3 months to retain it all back. It says it can not find operating system. I need help in a serious way. all advice and solutions are requested.
my computer freezes when I play some video games and also when I play AVI files (if I play mpeg files they work just fine, no freezing at all) But the thing is when I play games or AVI files my computer will freeze randomly (5 minutes, 30 minutes, just randomly sometimes it won't freeze at all) I don't know if it's the memory or not.
I've been racking my brain on this issue for months with no success. So I have a AMD Athlon XP 2200+ processor running on a Gigabyte mobo (I can get the model no. if needed) and a BFG GeForce 5500 AGP card. I have 2 Crucial DDR-333 512M sticks and a WD 80GB SATA drive. Now when I run Windows and basic apps(IE, Outlook, Firefox, etc) But when I run a few games like World of Warcraft, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth, etc. Occasionally it will just hang the PC. No error, just looping sound and freeze frame.
I was playing America's Army and on this computer it is is kind of laggy and just doesn't run smoothly even with all the settings on minimum. Im using a RADEON 9200, Do you think more RAM could fix this problem? Is my computer able to have anymore RAM?
Look at this log and see if they can find any reason why i have one program Delta Force Blackhawk Down online game will not play any more worked fine till 2 days ago than just wont boot up every thing else on comp works well i have un installled it and reinstalled it and same thing.
I've only had this problem for a while, i have windows xp and this hasen't happened to be before until yesterday. whenever i start up one of my big games(ie a more newer more demanding games) the screen pops up and my computer resets, i dont know what i could of don't to cause this nor what exactly whats going on the screen has a error that says IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL at first i thought my graphics drivers were buggered. so i went off and downloaded newer ones and put them on, but it didn't seem to do much.
i dont really have problems with the games im useing its the way my pc is running, i uasuly play bf2, it uasuly loads a level in around 20 seconds but now it will take anything up to 2 minutes! i have 1gb of ram and seems like its running on 512mb!, ive checked my cpu and it looks fine i also tryed reinstalling the game but that didnt help either
I've had this problem for a couple of days. Every time I start a game like portal or team fortress 2 svchost.exe starts eating cpu. This goes on for a couple of minutes and suddenly svchost goes back to normal cpu usage.
I have 7 different svchost.exe processes in my task manager, 3 system, 2 local service and 2 network service.
I've downloaded process explorer and the svchost that takes all the cpu has the PID 1412, dunno if that info makes any difference but sounds important.
I've searched for svchost.exe to see if there are any more that could be possible viruses but i only found the one in /windows/system32/ I have no idea what could be causing this problem... Also, I apologize if there already is a solution for this in another topic. Didn't find any when I searched.
I downloaded some computer game files and now I am sorry and want to delete them but can't find the files that support them. The shortcut icons appear only on the fifth line of the Mozilla and I.E. browzer home pages. The address line shows the files at http://retrogamer.iwon.com/home.jhtml?tbdd=9197. The files do not appear under C: anywhere and the search function and Control Panel add/remove can't locate them either.
It seems my pc is doing something new that it hasent done before. Right in the middle of games the system just reboots on its own and then i get a Disk Consistency check. I have no idea whats doing this since it wont even give me a error message. Does anyone know what too look for here? A friend said overheating might cause this but he knows i got a big cooling system, even has a hard drive cooling system and a high speed CPU cooling fan with a exterior intake fan
I have windows xp and i want to play a game but everytime i try to install it it says that it does not support windows NT and I have tried everything your site has said and nothing works! What can I do?
I am playing the game The Final Cut (Ubissoft) I have tried contacting Ubisoft by phone, mail and e-mail and have not received a reply. The problem is as I am playing, the game stops amd returns to the desktop. I am almost through with the game and it has worked perfectly until now.
I thought it was this new game i installed, it would lag about every minute and a half, for about 10 seconds at a time. So i uninstalled the game. The only problem is now the computer seems to get bogged down much easier (running AIM and windows media player at the same time makes WMP songs slow), and enters 10 second "slow periods". This never used to happen.
